As posted on another thread. This addresses the issue of dual QPI CPU (Xeon 56xx series) running on X58 micro (E756). The last time was totally no support for booting something like an L5640 or E5649 at all. I can't verify the effect on E760 and E762 as I have modified both boards by soldering the 2 areas as per Shamino's instruction to enable support for dual QPI CPU.

big_willie BIOS doesn't seem to be updating It still showing the BIOS it came with, V6.00PG That is not the BIOS version. It is located further down on that screen. If you hit the Pause/Break button you can halt the screen so you can see it better.. You can find it in Aida64 as well.

Ok so i'm having a problem with these new BIOS. I have 3x 240GB SSD drives in RAID 0 on the Intel Controller as my main drive with the OS installed on it. But i also have 2x 500GB HDD's in RAID 0 on the jmicron controller, purely for backup. The problem is that BIOS 83 randomly sets the jmicron drives as the main main bootable drive and forgets that set the Intel drives as Primary boot device. It doesn't do this all of the time but now and again i have to go back into BIOS and set the Intel drives as Primary every now and again because BIOS 83, for some strange reason, decides that the jmicron drive should be the main bootable one. Not a system-breaker but still, very annoying NB: i'm using a Classified 4-Way SLI mobo E762

I have used SpeedStep, C3 (or C6), S3, and manual CPU Vcore for years, with BIOS SZ2Z and 82. You just can't OC as far W/SpeedStep enabled, specifically there seems to be a Vcore limit. But here's the kicker, you have a classy, I don't. I have heard the Classys are built differently (perhaps just a BIOS difference though), to disallow reduction of CPU Vcore by Speedstep (or something like that) - to allow better OCing. So what works for me may not work for you and your EE CPU. GL to you.

Try replacing your CMOS batt. If you replace it with the computer on (enter BIOS to keep it from booting), you can do it without loosing your settings. Just don't short anything when you are doing it, if you are not comfortable with that possibility then do it the safe way.

Its just that one setting so it cant be the battery. The mobo is only 4 months old. Plus if it was the battery then my internal clock would be resetting itself - thats the biggest tell tale that ur battery is dying - when ur computer tells u its 1979

Just got around to installing this BIOS 83 and redoing my overclock on my i7-930 and I'm impressed so far.. I was able to get up to 21 x 180 on auto voltages (3.78GHz) and still running fine on Prime95 - VCore on load was 1.15V at that level. At 182 it finally crashed on full load.. it was a crash & immediate reboot (no BSOD) so even that may be RAM caused, not CPU lol.. Cooling is a Corsair H60 btw.
