Hello, Sorry for the noob question, but I want to update my bios to 82 but I am a bit confused as to what version I am using... My bios version is IX58S649. I can't find any changelog info concerning my bios. Is it very old? I can't remember if I updated it once when I built my rig or if I am using the one that came with the mobo... The main question is: is it safe to update to 82?

http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?m=6305 Here is the changelog for newer bios versions. I would say, if you're not having any issues with the version you run now, just leave it alone. Each newer version contains all the changes that were put into previous ones.

Hi guys. Are servers down or something, maybe paths are changed? I get 'permission denied' when using ftp client. Downloading via website doesn't work at all. Just nothing happens. And right now Orbit crashed with download after 99 retries. Trying to download BIOS (82) for X58 SLI3 which is en route - need to replace my old MB before LGA2011. Hope it will work nicely without flashing, but it never hurt. Just to check tried many different BIOSes for few other motherboards but still permission denied, so it must be wider problem.

zalbard IX58S649 Very old. HalloweenWeed It is the number just after "release" or "rel.", and begins with IX58 or E7xx where 7xx is your board part number, for instance mine says rel. # IX58SZ2Z and we call that SZ2Z. Dual-digit BIOSes like 73 look like this: IX58xx73, where xx is the last two digits of your board#; for example if you have E760 and BIOS 63 it would say "IX586063." No, that would not be BIOS 49. The "S" series BIOSes were 2009 or older. Yes it should be updated before some compatibility issues crop up, but of course there is always a risk to flashing BIOS.
Main (gaming) rig: i7-3930K; Asus Rampage IV Extreme; H100 W/p-p Excaliburs, AS5; MSI 7870 2GD5/OC; Crucial M4 SSD 256GB. See my primary ModsRigs: Adam for the rest, and I have a second (wife's) rig Asus Rampage III Extreme & 960: Eve. Overclocking is useless to me if it is not rock stable.

Even if I always using Opera I forced myself to try IE/FF. No results. I connect just fine via FTP, but when LIST [or MLSD] cmd is executed = '550 Permission denied' and end of story. And so I have no clue what is and what is not on the server. Apologies for ~30 FTP attempts with various settings. It was not hacking attempt LOL. I do have few others EVGA boards and I can't download anything from EVGA servers except pdf files (but those are accessible via standard http protocol not ftp). But less than 2 months ago for example I needed stuff for my old 680i and downloaded everything just fine. Just click and Voila (no need for any inferior browsers/download managers or direct FTP). So I went further. I thought maybe, EVGA servers are now on the edge of known Universe . So I used USA based Proxy to see if there is anything. And result is that there is nothing. I get EVGA website with 404 Error [not standard server message (e.g. from Apache), it is EVGA own 404 error page] when any file is linked to ftp. So now I know why I can't access any data. Simply data does not exist or access is blocked in some way (like "overexcited" firewall). I would greatly appreciate help in obtaining latests BIOS for X58 SLI3. Are there any mirrors available? Any chances for upload at Fileserve or other similar website?

So I initially thought it was not possible to get the X58 board to throttle the voltage with Speedstep when the voltage is set manually higher. Apparently it works on non-classified board and as I found out it also works very well on my Gigabyte board. This would be a nice feature to fix for a BIOS 83...
