Can somebody answer these questions for me please?

How long does flashing take?
How do you turn off pc exactly after flash?
Can you try update again if fail if pc still on?
Some websites say to remove cmos battery after flashing is this required?

1. Maybe 15 seconds . Something around that value. Still it is the longest 15 seconds of your life (no backup BIOS if something goes wrong)
2. After finished flashing, F1 to reset and simply Power OFF.
3. Can't speak for that on EVGA boards. So far no fails, but flashing BIOS is one of those "heart in mouth" moments - even if you have UPS.
4. Certainly won't hurt. Often it is better way that ClearCMOS button. Just remember to unplug power cord before removing battery.

Hope it helps.

First, that's an oxy-moron. If it failed, there's a 95% or more chance it was because your power failed, or the plug wiggled and was loose. That would leave your computer either off or rebooting the POST, which would immediatley fail.
Second, only computers with daul-BIOS chips will survive a bad flash. Asus Rampage Extreme mobos have this, and I think I seen an EVGA classy with dual-BIOS. If you only have single, you have to await a new BIOS chip to arrive in the mail.

ypsylon answered the rest sufficiently.

Main (gaming) rig: i7-3930K; Asus Rampage IV Extreme; H100 W/p-p Excaliburs, AS5; MSI 7870 2GD5/OC; Crucial M4 SSD 256GB.
See my primary ModsRigs: Adam for the rest, and I have a second (wife's) rig Asus Rampage III Extreme & 960: Eve.

Can somebody please send me the BIOS 82 for the X58 SLI3?

I am trying to download this file since 4 weeks from many different PC's here in Germany, but it just won't work.
Either i have no access at all or the file is empty after download.

Help very very much appreciated :)!

(Why is there no other source on the WHOLE net for EVGA bioses?)

I'd be happy to email you the BIOS.   Just PM me with your address.  Do you want the ISO or the BIN?  Or both.  Send me your exact MOBO model #, please.

FYI, these ISOs  normally create a CD that looks empty after burning.  Or do you mean the file has zero bytes?

Some browsers may not access the FTP correctly and it sounds like you solved that issue. If you're trying to look inside the file and don't see anything, that is also normal. Burn it as an ISO to a disc and you should be able to boot from it.

Thanks for the fast replies :)!

The mix out of empty CD's and ISO's, faulty burned discs and 4,4KB downloads just were too much i guess ;).

In a quiet moment i just loaded it with Firefox again and burned it with another program and finally! My PC booted from them :).

Flashed the bios and the SATA6 port and installed a new OCZ Vertex 3 on it. I'm surprised the Marvell 88SE9128 reads @ 420MB/s :) (writes @ 280mb :P - tested with ATTO) in spite of all the catastrophical tests! Didn't test it before i flashed the Marvell firmware so can't judge too exactly on it.

Anyways... Thanks again :)

Modded 82 BIOS now available.  It includes latest JMicron and Intel RAID option ROM.  Please note that this is a custom modification and as such is unofficial and not supported by EVGA, me, or anyone else in any way.  You are flashing completely at your own risk and assume all responsibility for and consequences of flashing the BIOS.  Please also note that flashing the BIOS is risky and could result in a non-functioning motherboard.  Please also note that flashing custom BIOS could result in voiding your warranty on the motherboard.

With that out of the way you can get a zip file with each of the BIOS updated here (one archive, pick your BIOS from it).

2 QUESTIONS...

Well.. first... THANK YOU DEJANH!

1) Would i need to reset my current bios settings prior to flashing this on my 762?

2) I have 2 Intel 120GB 320 Series SSD's in RAID 0... If I were to add another 120GB 320 Series SSD to the RAID array would I notice a performance difference?

Excuse my ignorance but this brings Intel raid rom to the table to replace pheonix rom evga had packaged into 82 originally besides Jmicron code? Any performance difference? Worth it on a 759?

Thanks.

OK,

Then why would I want to flash to this modded version? Only benefit to ssd raid?

Thanks

Actually they did, a couple of months ago, and deleted the thread just two days later. Seemed unfortunate too, bc ppls were reporting they fixed either S3 sleep and/or the virtualization double-pump (I can't remember exactly). The new revision should be a later revision# than 83. They don't always release all the numbers either, sometimes it skips a few duds.

A more appropriate Q would be: "the next BIOS revision" since they are also not full-blown versions, but only "revisions". The BIOS "version" is 6.00PG and hasn't changed since 2009.

Welcome to the forum earthbound.
We could help you with this prob if you started a thread (we would need your BIOS template),
but the most common fix is tRL +2. Many older BIOSes did not have the tRL option.

but the most common fix is tRL +2. Many older BIOSes did not have the tRL option.

Thanks for the tip. This is the first time I've tried to update the bios since July 2009 as a means to bring the system up to date.

Over the 5 hrs of experimentation I found the memory to be fine with the original bios sz2f (~May 2009 I believe) but not with the latest ver. 77 and 82: the moment I go back to sz2f bios everything is fine, ie. it is clearly not a hardware issue. I did a thorough search and exhausted all the software possibilities such as trl, memory gap, msconfig and memtest as well as hardware ones such as re-seating the dimms.

My question: do I have grounds for RMA as I can't bring my motherboard to the later bios versions without disappearing ram?

Well earthbound, now that I know your mobo and former BIOS revision, I think I know the prob. You need to drop VTT by 100mV W/the newer BIOSes! You old BIOS is 1.1V + offset, and the new one is 1.2V + Offset (this doesn't apply to classys). BTW, the newest version of E-Leet still reports your VTT voltage setting as if it were the older BIOS, i.e. it shows 0.1V off! However, the voltage monitoring is correct. You will see your VTT voltage proper in the E-Leet monitoring tab.

One other thing, you can't load previously saved BIOS profiles after flashing to a different BIOS. As soon as you get your BIOS setup, I recommend that you save all 8 to prevent accidental loading. That should do it for you, I wish you good luck.

Overclocking is useless to me if it is not rock stable.

Yea when are we getting a new BIOS update?  Not that it matter since X79 or socket 2011 is just around the corner. Damn upgrade fever is setting in.
