While I haven't had any issues with the 8.5 RAID ROM I appreciate evga's work in integrating the newer RAID ROM version :)

My E762 Classified has been wonderful since I started using it!

I look forward to seeing what kind of 'free performance' I get from the new RAID ROM!

Most benefits should come to SSD users, but everyone should be seeing more stability long-term.  Performance gains were reported with newer RAID ROMs by other users who have had a chance to use them on other boards.  I hope we see the same.  Free performance benefit never hurts as a bonus

Can you elaborate? I already get max out of Raid 1 - Intel SSD 80Gb - G1 setup. Windows 7 scores 7.9 as well. Any new features Intel Raid BIOS 10.x.x.x brings?

Having no issues with RAID myself, and my array is already quite fast, I am wondering if this new BIOS will offer me any improvements?

Yup

EVGA used to be a great company (I've been a customer since early 2005). But after 2017 it went completely downhill. EVGA doesn't treat customers as customers, but as complete idiots! I used to own over 30 EVGA products (videocards, motherboards, PSU's and so on). Not anymore. #evga #pathetic

Speed increase, depending on brand of the ssd's, of maximum 20%.

I have ran several benchmarks on my array already, but I suppose that is the only way.

I was only asking.

Hopefully the new BIOS will not break something else.

Why should it break something?

When you update your videocard drivers, it won't break anything else either. It will work without problems.

Are they trying to get the newest roms in there for all devices or just the raid rom?

As great as having Intel raid rom v10 is, I just hope were not still stuck with an old Pheonix AHCI rom for our non raided drives instead of Intel's newest. For those of us running large single SSD's with TRIM this is a more important issue.

Re:EVGA X58 Motherboards - BIOS 78 Released 2011/03/22 10:58:36 (permalink)
I completely agree. And I'd wager to say that there'd be a greater mass-economic benefit in fixing/updating the AHCI ROM over the RAID, by simple account of numbers of users (no dissin' on the RAID home-boys :). Now factoring in the actual benefits of which group would see greater is another story (I imagine the RAID people would probably see greater jumps in increases over the solely AHCI running people. Just a rough guesstimate, however).

Anyway, I really hope the AHCI rom is updated to the Intel 10 as well. If they're going the distance to hit the RAID-fix mark, it would seem only logical (IMO) that that ground would also cover the path before it, meaning the AHCI.

I suppose I'm hypothesizing the logic in this from Dejanh's work in modding the BIOS, how by the nature of updating the RAID rom, it included backwards compatibility/update with AHCI as well. Someone please correct me if this is a wrong assumption to make, and that it would also take further considerable work and effort to do the AHCI as well.

Long story short -- Jacob, please plead with the powers that be that we can also enjoy some fresh AHCI goodness as well!!

And of course, many of us would be more than TICKLED if we could get the VT double-pump fixed, too! :)

(But of course, we're more than thankful for any and every little bit of update and fix we can get. Thanks Jacob!!)

I think Jacob mentioned his intention to use Intel AHCI ROM. This shouldn't be a problem whatsoever, since we can already mod the current BIOS and replace Phoenix OROM with Intel one, and it works that way.

It works, but isn't fully compatible. It doesn't work when you set it to AHCI in the bios after replacing the Pheonix with the Intel AHCI rom, you have to set it to Raid and then let the raid rom delegate the non raided drives to AHCI. Its close to working, but it definitely needs some kind of tweek.
Seems like a much easier fix though, since it does function. Probably something like the Pheonix settings are a bit different then the Intel ones, and at the moment were trying to run the Intel rom using Pheonix settings.

Thanks for keeping us updated with the progress of the RAID ROM major upgrade. I appreciate the heads up as I don't have to consider the purchase of a Gigabyte's G1.Assassin motherboard now.
