SSD RAID SATA 3 issues

Can you describe this issue? Also there have been over 5 BIOS updates for the SATA3 motherboard, and over 30 BIOS updates for the original X58 motherboards. Once the SATA3 boards were released they were brought up to speed with the previous ones, so in a way you can say those have had over 30 updates as well.

AHowes GIGABYTE?? Man those guys blew hard years ago.. never understood why people liked them as they sucked at overclocking.

They have world's #1 overclocker working for them right now. They know what they are doing.
EVGA_JacobFLatest update I have is that Award has our full source code, and we continue to work directly with them on a solution.

Curious, but is Award saying anything? Such as: how complex the problem is, how long solving it might take, what steps are necessary... We just want to know what's going on.

I am trying to get an ETA at this point, if I have anything I will certainly let you know.

Thanks!
The question wasn't mostly about the ETA, though, but some technical details. That way we might try and do some research on our own, and have a better idea of the progress rather than just that it's getting there (for example: ROM loading module is being re-written from scratch, etc.). It's nice to feel more involved.
Besides, us geeks just love techy stuff (insert a joke about flux capacitor here)!

That is really the only thing I think anybody wants to know. Even if it's "Still looking into it." I know some will say "Bull ****". As long as that phrase is broken up with legitimate reasons of why it isn't working yet, then I won't complain.
I feel like a PFC again in the Marine Corps wondering WTH is going and no one is telling me ****. I make it a point as a SGT to keep my Marines informed. You should keep your customers informed of the situation as much as possible, no matter how dire the situation.
Asus boards are just as good, only thing thing that separates EVGA and Asus is the warranty, I can sacrifice a warranty for better BIOS support.
As far as GPU's go though, I'll still buy EVGA.

Without knowing the full picture, I don't think you can make any assumption on how difficult or simple it is to implement.

Latest update I have is that Award has our full source code, and we continue to work directly with them on a solution.

I don't want to sound rude and harsh. But I have one simple question to ask:

What took you so long to start handling this issue seriously in proper way?

Having so outdated RAID ROM for premium board in SSD era is at least unfair toward customers. Absolutely the worst thing in this issue is that EVGA would not do anything about it if there was not community involvement (dejanh).

I was waiting for solution long enough. From now on,  I will post links to this threads on all forums where I participate. Not as act of revenge or some juvenile anger, I simply feel responsible to show people what is going on.

Basically really really slow speeds in RAID.

I have 2 WD Caviar Black sata 3 in Raid 0 and the performance when connected to the SATA 3 ports is terrable.

When they are connected to the INTEL controller they run just fine.

I have already RMAd a board back to you guys and it made no difference

Its defiantly the controller when using RAID.

The SATA3 problem is the controller's problem. The first generation SATA3 controller isn't performing well enough. It's the same on other boards. And even if it did you wouldn't get any advantage over sticking to SATA2 ports with your config...

Sure they did. Like most 486 boards, you had to change the crystal oscillator, usually from 33MHz to 40MHz resulting in a WHOPPING 7MHz overclock!

Back on topic... I haven't had any issues with my 760, but for my next build I'll probably go back to Gigabyte simply because I REALLY like their dual BIOS. I once had to hot flash the BIOS on an EPOX board. After that nerve-racking experience, I appreciate the safety of Gigabyte's dual BIOS.  That's also why I'm still running on my original S61G BIOS...

I am thinking of Gigabyte for my next setup, instead of EVGA if they cannot fix a simple bios. It's as simple as that.

Without knowing the full picture, I don't think you can make any assumption on how difficult or simple it is to implement.

Latest update I have is that Award has our full source code, and we continue to work directly with them on a solution.

Not knowing the full picture?! That's also EVGA's fault, cause you guys aren't keeping us up-to-date. The only response we are getting is "We are working on it" x 100 and zero results.

Also, see my support ticket over 1 month ago, which was answered by Nick, he said the Intel RAID ROM couldn't be updated at all. Than a forum user (dejanh) has to show it was possible. A forum user who has more knowledge than the EVGA bios team (or what's left of it)? After his updates EVGA hastely updated the ROM to something "less-old" (still almost 2 years old). If Gigabyte can do it, why not EVGA?

I take it you can understand our frustration. And this frustration and the lack of updates is going to lose you clients. The only one who really supplies us with some kind of updates is dejanh.

EVGA used to be a great company (I've been a customer since early 2005). But after 2017 it went completely downhill. EVGA doesn't treat customers as customers, but as complete idiots! I used to own over 30 EVGA products (videocards, motherboards, PSU's and so on). Not anymore. #evga #pathetic

Beside BIOS outdated fact what bothers me more is EVGA attitude regarding this issue.

At the end of the day all I can loose is 330 euros that I paid for E760 and some nerves. But EVGA can loose much more. Once company starts loosing its reputation it is way too hard to get it back.

Performance/stability  issues caused by outdated RAID ROM on one side and being treated as dumb by EVGA on the other side...  The second one makes me feel bad.

All I ask is fair, honest treatment so answer me this one question: CAN you get us latest Intel RAID ROM ?

It is completely OK with me to get negative answer and I will live with it. Just be plain and fair and cut this generic PR announcements.

Oh and let it be known; while my posts may sound like I am bashing EVGA, this is not the case, I still think EVGA has some good products, however when I pay for the best, I do expect to get the best.

I just seriously hope EVGA can tackle this problem soon and that the ETA doesn't turn into an EOL. :S

Why not bashing ? What is bad in bashing them ?

I haven't seen a single sentence from EVGA saying :

"We are sorry for all the troubles and inconvenience caused by outdated RAID ROM, double pump, etc..."

It seems to me that EVGA honors their products more than their customers.

And if this sounds like harsh or bashing - you are right, it is.

So that makes it alright does it.

I purchased from EVGA Limited Not Other Boards Limited.

My issues are with a company that has sold me a product that DOES NOT perform as stated on the box and the material they advertised it on.

It's whats called in the legal world as misrepresentation and Im now changing my stand point on this matter.

Im not going to sell up im going to ask them to fix it OR refund it.

If it doesn't work as it should do then FIX the thing.

If you can not FIX it then gimme my money back or i will see you in court !!!!

I doubt the box says it that the "SATA3 controller in RAID performs much faster than SATA2 controller in RAID".
Besides, it's Marvell who makes the controller, not EVGA.
And no, there was no other controller option back then so you did get the best of the best.
You can't really sue for performance, either. You weren't given any guaranteed numbers.
The best you can ask for is refund if you're lucky...

1. Side of box states 2 SATA III 6 GBps ports. And look at the website, manual, and other advertising media.
2. I bought my board from EVGA NOT Marvell.
3. Not really an argument is it that "Hey well there was no other option other than a bugged out controller that does not work as it should but anyhow we will put it on our Innovative board"
4. Don't worry about me when it comes to sueing but thanks for your advise.
5. If they can FIX it then FIX it OR give me a refund for a board that does not work as it was advertised too.
6. I wont reply again on this subject as I do not want it to get into a flaming war.

I do not want to sound bad or something but the current Raid version with 76 bios i run for example has no performance problems with SSD. I run Raid 1 SSD X25M-80 Gb Intel and that thing screams. Windows reports 7.9, and benchmarks are showing insane speed. And this is on SATA2 ports. All my ports are occupied with Raid 1 and there is no problem with any of them. Very busy SATA controller i can say.

RAID 1?

Try 4x Mach Xtreme Technology DS Series 2,5 Zoll SATA II SSD - 160GB in RAID 0 and you will experience problems.

You guys should cut Jacob some slack hes only one person.  Also someone posted about jacob tweeting about rig... so what how many people do you know that take there work home with them? None, hes a person and has to do things to relax like the rest of us.  Least hes making an effort.  Go to any other forum for any company and post a problem bet you don't get a company member to respond to you.  Call their tech support gauranteed its based in some 3rd world country.  Sorry but the Evga bashing has to stop at some point.  I myself am a bit POed at the lack of new ROMs etc but jacob said they are working on it so i assume its being worked on.  You guys should trying dealing with Creatives tech support or RMA department youll have a new appreciation for EVGA.  Sorry ive had a rough day between my wife being sick, overloading myself with college work, financial issues, I am a bit grumpy.
