If you guys think Asus is any better good luck. They returned the same board that I RMA'd and it was still broken! They haven't updated the RAID ROM's either.

Good Evening Gentlemen (and Ladies), I am quite the casual user and noob builder. I built my first real rig back in January (maybe Feb?) of 2009 using the original X58 SLI. The rig has been working great however I feel there is a bottle neck, so I am finally trying to methodically update as much of the software as I can in order to acertain whether or not I need to upgrade. From what I've gleaned from this thread, many of you are eagerly awaiting release 79 of the bios. My question is whether or not this motherboard will be affected by the new BIOS? Or does it just affect the newer X58's made by EVGA? Here is my rig: eVGA X58 SLI intel core i7 920 6GB RAM 2x 4870 Sapphires 300GB raptor 64GB G.Skill SSD My current plan is to merge my OS onto the G.Skill after I optimize it and see if I get much of a boost in speed. Is the thread on this forum on overclocking worth the read? Or is there a better forum out there for the noobs? I appreciate any responses and again i apologize for my ignorance!

Your motherboard will be affected by the new BIOS as well. This forums is good for getting all sorts of information, including overclocking information. Just post the questions and somebody will always answer

Jacob, not to be pesky but, can you please keep us updated on the progress with the RAID ROM integration situation (hey I'm a poet). Not looking for particulars just interested if any more progress has been made and perhaps a timeline of when.....................A lot of us have been waiting for some time for this to happen and are hoping for EVGA's success in getting this much desired and necessary feature integration out to us. Thanks in advance.

On a more serious note... Jacob, you're awesome. Thanks both to you and EVGA staff. Hope (hell, I am pretty sure at this point) you'll get around to update all the other optional BIOS components (and add Intel ACHI), too. And to fix HPET & C6 and all the other (much more simple!) stuff after!

While I haven't had any issues with the 8.5 RAID ROM I appreciate evga's work in integrating the newer RAID ROM version :) My E762 Classified has been wonderful since I started using it! I look forward to seeing what kind of 'free performance' I get from the new RAID ROM!

I look forward to seeing what kind of 'free performance' I get from the new RAID ROM! Most benefits should come to SSD users, but everyone should be seeing more stability long-term. Performance gains were reported with newer RAID ROMs by other users who have had a chance to use them on other boards. I hope we see the same. Free performance benefit never hurts as a bonus
