dejanh

I want the VT and S3 fixes with no Gulftown microcode.

I agree with Dejanh on this point. EVGA will have to strive to make this happen pretty quick.

After a prolonged discussion with sham I got the impression that they are not going to take the bios in a direction that will take care of Blommy users only and not implement Gulftown enhancements. So all mods or fixes will be implemented with support for Gulftown as well as Bloomy. Hopefully they can clear up to the problems with Bloomys with Gulftown enhancements.

 Remember that the bios is modular and the modules with microcode and enhancements for Gulftown and Bloomys comes from Intel. EVGA can modify these modules but not to the point where it breaks any new enhancements. I guess this is Intel's thing. So really Intel needs to find where the problem is being caused within their own code. EVGA can help by testing modified code with their hardware impementation but Intel will have to sign off on any and all changes on the code.

Thanks ShockTheMonkey re EVGA / Intel - that explains a lot. It seems EVGA have their hands tied to a certain extent.

yes, you should go back to the bios that worked prior to 43,44,and 49. Choose the bios that's specific for your mobo model.

I would like to make a request , if possible, for an update on the ich10 rom. (Intel has released drivers that support trim on raid drives , and since v8.0.0.1038 ich rom is quite dated , I would like to know if this rom passes trim commands to ssds in raid).
Thx evga team for a great job so far!!!!

Short (smart*ss) answer: start with a DVD ISO and burn it.

What are you trying to do?

The ISO is a CD ISO IIRC.  I don't think it will burn and run on a DVD.  I could be wrong...

Make sure you use the "burn image" option in Nero.  Don't just burn it as a data file.

Yeah ok, I don't really care as long as it gets fixed.  As it stands right now I am forced to not upgrade to BIOS newer than S22D which means I miss out on any enhancements that new BIOS may bring which IMHO is not acceptable.  Again, I don't care how they do it as long as they do it.

I doubt the VT issue is related to Gulftown on the new microcode anyway.  They attempted to finally fix the double-pump on every reboot with VT and it did not turn out quite as they had anticipated.  They should be able to fix this regardless.  In my mind this is just a first-attempt mistake and insufficient testing.  Then there is the S3 resume CAS latency issue and HD5800 resume issue which may or may not be related to the new microcode.  Neither has been confirmed or denied.  As far as I see it it's fixable as well.  Many other things prior to S22D were deemed "hard to fix" or "not fixable" that ended up getting fixed.  Finally Turbo Performance, a specific Gulftown feature, can just stay disabled as long as it is not doing anything screwy with other features such as SpeedStep.

Hi i would like to know why retail 980x have the same rule about uncore than the old i7920, 950... =>uncore x2
It's specify in the bios A0=>uncore X1.5 B0=>uncore X2
You have to update this in the next bios.

Got to say my system is stable again with this latest bios and I can live without VT and Turbo for stability. Had problems with 1600mhz ram recently that was stable way in the beginning and not as of late. Though now its stable again with less vtt and cpu volts! Prior I was also using saved profiles and I suspect that some minor details maybe get lost when you load a saved profile like minor unseen latencies. Can't prove it though. Just a feeling. So I rate this bios almost a full thumbs up...

Will wait patiently for the next latest and greatest release!
