This BIOS is ONLY for the EVGA X58 SLI Classified Motherboard (part number 141-BL-E759- )
S22D Updates: - Added "Reserve RC for Bridge" - Enables resources for 5 VGA's.
- Added High Precision Event Timer
- Disables PS2 keyboard in device manager if no PS2 keyboard present
BIOS updating can be accomplished VIA the below methods:
CD/DVD Installation - Recommended installation method- Download the following .iso file: E759_S22D.iso
- Use a CD Burning software to burn the .iso image onto a blank CD (Nero, Alochol 120%, MagicISO etc.)
- After it has burned, insert CD and restart the machine, go into the BIOS and load defaults, save and exit
- Now set the CD Drive as the primary boot device, or press escape while the system is booting to select CD as the bootable device.
- After flash remove the CD, and power off PC Completely.
- Turn on the PC and load defaults in BIOS
USB FLOPPY Installation - Recommended installation method- Download the following executable: E759_S22D.exe
- Insert blank floppy disk into drive and run executable
- After the floppy has written fully, restart the machine, go into the BIOS and load defaults, save and exit
- Now set the USB Floppy as the primary boot device, or press escape while the system is booting to select USB Floppy as the bootable device
- After flash remove the floppy, power off PC Completely
- Turn on the PC and load defaults in BIOS
USB Flash Drive Installation - Alternate installation method- Download: E759S22D.bin
- Visit this thread and follow the installation instructions. (thanks 30h6).
Warning:
**Do not restart or interrupt your PC while the flash is ongoing
**Do not Flash BIOS on overclocked settings
**It is always recommended to power-down after flash and Clear CMOS

yeah, i watched the video and tried each thing they suggested, the boards dead i think, i have had FF a couple of times before and ways always able to fix it quickly but this time nothing makes a difference. I did hope having some down time in the box may have done the trick but its not coming back to life as much as i want it to, it was a good board, in great condition and i am pretty worried about what i am going to get as a replacement to be honest, i would really rather not have to RMA it but looks like my luck finally ran out.

I totally get you. Somehow only the original, purchased E759 feels like the real "Classified". All others, E760+ and even RMA E759 just feel "regular". That was my biggest fear when my Classified appeared to have bit the dust about a month back...turned out it was the EK block warping the board that was causing my troubles. This board is so good but so sensitive

Added to the BIOS Changelog thread. I also added the notes from shamino and dejanh, hopefully I reported them correctly. Hrm, 64-bit High Precision Event Timer? I may have to check that out.

Does plenty good for me...stops CPU-Tweaker from barfing on itself all the time...which reminds me, I need to let Felix know before he thumps his head on a table over a board related issue.

OK I tried this bios and I do not like it. 1. uncore I set to 18x instead of auto will not boot. 2. mchstrap I set to 1867 will not boot. 3. not sure what this is but running LinX core 2 became the hot core has always been core 1 the hot core and I mean core 2 hot like 15c hotter than the others and cpu clocks down in LinX yes intel speed step disabled and what ever the other one is is also disabled. Non of this happens with S223 bios. Just letting you know. as far as S3 I never use it rig is on or off. EDIT Put S223 back on all is good again.

Wow, that is majorly weird. This is probably the best BIOS to date for me. I am running 18x uncore right now, though my MCH strap is set to DRAM Ratio. I also did not notice any changes in temps on cores, same as it was under S227. Let me re-test again. What is your CPU clock running at for daily use? Super quick test with my daily 24/7 OC...note the ambient temperature is about 27C and fans are running at only 1000RPM hence the temps + I ran LinX like 30 seconds before I restarted this test:

But with this bios no boot just real quick F3, F8 and looks like flashing something else inbetween but to fast to see even F3 to F8 is very fast. Did you make sure to load BIOS defaults, save and reboot, then flash to this BIOS, then load BIOS defaults again, and then save and reboot, and then finally input the OC figures? I prefer to flash with /Wb /cd /cc switches too to update BIOS boot block, clear DMI data, and clear CMOS data. I would not know about E-leet since I rarely use it for anything at all other than monitoring settings, but it could very well be that there is a compatibility issue with it. Also, did you set your HPET to Enabled and 64-bit?

I'm not sure I understand your question...HPET was disabled before on this board and that caused all sorts of clock readout problems for me...I'm not saying that it will have anything to do with your problem but properly enabling HPET at 64-bit won't hurt that's for sure. It could be that something is incorrectly reading the calibrated values and causing the chip to misbehave...maybe, who knows... mrmuiz

I know. I am really trying to get an answer on that one. I am surprised at the silence though. Every time I ask nobody seems to want to answer why it needs to power cycle on reboot every time.

That's really messed up. I tested S3 all the way from default clocks to 220MHz BCLK on the i7 920 and it suspends and resumes perfectly fine. I also compared it to previous BIOS and overall this release is just so much more solid. A few questions for you... 1. How are you trying to wake it up (e.g., keyboard, mouse, key combination, power button, etc.)? 2. What code are you getting when it does not want to wake up and how does it behave, is there no sign of life at all? 3. What kind of overclock are you running exactly (clocks, voltages, multipliers, etc.)? I want to replicate it on my board and see if I get the same problem. I should be able to do it since I have a few DRAM sticks, one of which is the same as yours.

I just got everything "Perfect" with the last bios and can't say I have any problems. Looking for slightly better clocks on my 24/7 settings...I might just give this one a shot. It would be nice if we could just save and restore profiles like the good ol' days.

Yeah, everything works, even S3! I'm finding I using 40w less than with my old bios, so I don't know what was up. Also, the only time I get a system shutdown/Reboot is when I make a Clock/QPI change. On a simple voltage change, it reboot from bios still running. on the old bios S222, it would completely shut down after any changes in bios, reguardless of what you changed.
