Wow this new bios update is HORRIBLE. It also broke S3 for me I found out tonight. I couldn't even restart my computer at all till I unplugged my computer from the power! I made a video of after I restarted my computer manually after a failed S3 sleep. My computer just went crazy on me!

YouTube video on computer going crazy after a failed S3. Bios S22A.

After unplugging my computer and restarting it the weird stuff did no just stop there. I could not start my computer couse I got this error saying I changed my CPU! I was like ****!

Then while starting my speakers went crazy on me and made some random LOUD noise!

Stay away from this BIOS! This things have never happen to me in previous bios updates. Just horrible experience with this board EVGA, Thanks.

What it really fixes? I have my WD 2 TB RE4-GP in 1 partition working without any problems. I'm using as a secondary disk for storing DATA. What actually this bios fix with 2tb disks? I'm still using S227.

After this bios update my motherboard takes forever to turn on compare to past bios updates. I have vitualization on and I know with that on takes a bit longer to turn on cause it completely shuts off. Now after it turns back on it take a long time to post.

Also, today after a cold boot my computer did not want to post at all! My screen was black and it showed FF. Nothing was showing or posting at all and I could hear my computer trying to start up. I had to hold the reset button to make it start up again.

Also, why in the world does the Classified have to turn completely off when you set virtualization on? I have not seen other motherboards do that for example ASUS.

Getting a bit disappointed in my Classified board lately. I think I am going to RMA my board.

It's not your board man, it's the BIOS updates that need to get up to snuff.  The VT stuff should have been fixed a long time ago, and regressive updates like this one that break S3, cause slow startups, no posts, etc., should never make it out the door.  I realize that they cannot test every possible change, but changing the boot sequence like in this case can have serious implications which clearly it is for at least some of us.  I am pretty sure there are more of us too that would affected, but people (a) don't post here or (b) don't update their BIOS.

Please restore the normal boot sequence in the next BIOS, and if at all possible fix the VT enabling so that it does not power cycle the board every time on every boot.  Finally, if that whole shutdown issue with VTT over +350mV can be addressed that would be just stellar.

den, pm me your email we made a beta bios that went back to the sequence you wanted and you see if it makes your s3 ok or not.

Re:EVGA X58 Classified (E759) - S22A BIOS Released 2009/11/23 05:52:06 (permalink)
My system is not overclocked at the moment and i thought my S3 was still working but today i tried to put my system to sleep and it turned off the monitor but all the LED's were still lit and my fans were still spinning.  I also noticed my keyboard lights were pulsating, i checked the POST LED and it had FF (i have the system set up to show CPU temp so it should not be at FF).  I had to force the system to shut down by pressing the case power button and when it restarted windows it showed that it had not been dhut down properly and i could select to start in safe mode.

Seems somethings not right as S3 is not working on a system thats running within its specifications.

On a side note can anyone tell me how i can figure out if my CPU MIC is degraded/faulty without having another CPU please? thanks.

My sig is too big

Its worked fine up until updating to S22A (i would update my sig but i am not sure what the exact problem is but no matter how much i delete of my sig it always states i am over the max number of letters so i just left it the way it was on the old forums).

It seems updating to S22A has "broken" S3 Sleep, it works correctly 95% of the time about 4% of the time i do sometimes need to restart because some USB peripherals done work or a program seems buggy and the last 1% it doesnt work at all (this is the first time i have gotten an FF instead of a successful sleep).

I will try going back to the preious BIOS to see if it makes S3 functions correctly 100% of the time again

@Moltenlava - what you are describing is at least one thing that I have experienced as well with S22A.  Going back to older BIOS fixed it immediately.  I have been running strong with S227 again more than a week now.  Just this morning I woke up the system from 18h+ S3 sleep.

At the moment you are probably best using either S225 or S227.

Re:EVGA X58 Classified (E759) - S22A BIOS Released 2009/11/25 18:12:51 (permalink)
Here's an updated version of the BIOS for those that want to try it...AFAIK these are the changes (cumulative with changes in S22A)...

***Please note that this is only for the E759 Classified board.***

1. Adds support for 2TB partitions.
2. Adds new S3 states to allow S3 at high BCLK values. The newly added ranges are (set clock to down-clock needed for S3) 150 to 133, 170 to 150, 190 to 170, 210 to 190, 210+ to 210.
3. Adds ability to Enable/Disable HPET and run it in 32-bit and 64-bit modes.
4. Changes boot sequence, from poll clockgen > poll qpi ratio to poll qpi ratio > poll clockgen (should allow for higher BCLK boot).

Please note that this is a FileFactory link so you have to select the free basic download option from the page that opens.
