Hi, so basically got this new PSU, and I just noticed it makes a weird noise, it sounds a bit like coil whine. I noticed it goes away when I put it in eco mode. It might not be the fans since there's another noise that goes away when i turn on eco mode which is the general humming. hard to explain but if anyone could help that'd be great.

I've used the same model for over 9 months but did not have any such noise.
neither with ECO mode on nor with ECO mode off, it was really silent even with my ear 1cm away.

are you sure the noise comes really form inside the PSU? did you test it prior installation?

It's sooo hard to tell what it is, can't be the bearing as when I turn the pc onto it's side it doesn't stop. It's possible its's just the fan giving out the noise because when I turn eco mode off as far as I know the fans go off, and that's when the noise dissapears together with the other humming

it might be, although I never heard my PSU's fan even while spinning.
just to make clear, ECO mode ON means "no fan until needed" and ECO mode off means "fan runs all the time".
so if you want to switch the fan off you should switch ECO mode ON...

I am going to borrow the thread, I seem to have about the same problem! When I don't have ECO mode on and the fan is spinning, there is a wierd noise, not that noticeable when the case is on and such but still really anoying. Anyone know what may cause this?

Here is a video of the noise.

Sorry for intruding your post but it seemed like about the same issue.

really, am I just paranoid? there is a small and fast ticking sound that I hear at least.

PS. it's in the beggining of the clip, at the end I switched to ECO mode and then it stops. That way I Believe it's the fan. Now I run the PSU in Eco mode, but I don't know if that is a good solution if the PSU is indeed faulty.
