Well to my disappointment, the EVGA Pro SLI Bridge will not light up with the 970s.  I was really looking forward to finally having the LED on my bridge light up when I got my second 970 FTW.  Well turns out the 970s PCB isn't compatible with the LED on the bridge (talked with support), while the 980's is.

This is very disappointing to me, I would have thought that EVGA would support the second to the top video card to be compatible with a simple LED on a SLI bridge.

So this is just a warning to people with multiple 970s and wanting the bridge, as this would have changed my mind when I bought it, they will not light up the LED on the bridge.

I was hoping so too, had a cheapo ribbon bridge and then ordered the EVGA one. But, it's still a nice looking bridge.

Unfortunately the NVIDIA SLI bridge will not light up on 970 either, 970 does not support the LED function on SLI bridges.

Will EVGA ever make it happen?

Is it a firmware issue, driver issue? If the 770's could do it why not the 970's?

This is terrible.  I just got my EVGA pro bridge and threw it on my 970s and no light.  I'm crushed. :(

You can follow this tutorial to change the LED to white!

Also, @Jacob, why the heck won't the 970 light up? Is it ALL gtx 970s? (I'm assuming so). Dag-nabbit I just ordered the Nvidia bridges because I figured they WOULD light up on their OWN gosh darn card. Jeeze thats frustrating... So now I'm either going to have to stick with a ribbon cable, or spend another $400 ontop of my original $600 budget for 2 gtx 980s instead... bummer..

Ok, I just spoke with an Nvidia Rep over chat, and he said that all Nvidia Reference 900 series cards WILL light up the LED on the bridges. Whether its the 980 (from several manufacturers) or the reference nvidia 970 from BestBuy, they both light up the SLI bridge. They said if a card does NOT light it up, then the card manufacturer chose not to include that feature on the card in their own design.....

Yep not only does EVGA and other Nvidia board partners leave that feature out, but they also leave you with a cheap junk cooler :) EVGA lost my business on the 9 series, which is very sad to me

Yeah... I would understand leaving the feature out if it was because they replaced it with another feature, but to just leave it out... probably for the money.

That sucks because I was really hoping to go with both a motherboard AND a graphics card from EVGA for my next build, but it looks like I won't be doing either (classified is too expensive for lack of features and cramped layout, FTW and micro have no features at all). Their only hope (or should I say my only hope) now is doing an Nvidia reference 970 style card.

I really love EVGA. I really do. Its good to know all of this though, as I will most likely be buying the Nvidia 970 from Bestbuy (since those LED's work and its the cooler style that I want) since Jacob isn't guaranteeing that we'll get a reference style 970 from EVGA. Perhaps the LED thing will be fixed in a GTX 970 Classified.

That's what I just picked up last week! I was so irritated at the fact that all of Nvidia's board partners went the same route. You pay a little more premium($379.99) from BestBuy, but you get a beautiful cooler, and a totally functional card, along with a 3 year warranty direct from Nvidia. I wonder why everyone cut corners so much this launch? Supply and demand for the holiday's maybe? It's like getting a beta game at full retail price :) Lot's of those recently too! greedy greedy corner cutting companies these days.

I cant, for the life of me, understand how this issue causes some to completely abandon an amazing company like EVGA.

It's akin to never drinking a Coca-Cola again because they didn't have my name on the cans during their "share a Coke with" promotion (not that I'm a big soda fan, but you get my point).

+1.......Just the way society as a whole is going. Light or not it looks a whole damn lot better than the PCB looking bridge I used to used on my Classifieds......back plates and all....hmmm maybe Ill get one of those giant spot lights to show it off

For arguments sake, why is it fair for us consumers to get the shaft,? paying the same price over the years for a higher end GPU, only for newer cards to be lacking features we have come to expect. Not to mention the cheap-O coolers they are sticking on these cards lol. I still love EVGA, their customer service is the best in the business, but when we the customers dishing out wads of cash on EVGA branded cards, which are generally a little higher in price compared to the other board partners, it would be nice knowing they aren't cutting corners(which they clearly did in this case)

For the record, when i said i was hoping to go with evga for this next build and wont, i didn't mean that i will ABANDON EVGA FOREVAR BECUZ i got the whiney shaft... Im just saying, for the 900 series graphics cards, and the x99 motherboards, other competitors have better options :P i will never leave evga. Apart from hardware choices (bang for buck) aesthetics are really very important to some of the computer building enthusiasts out there. Its not unforgivable betrayal to get tired of the 13 year olds gaming call of duty hd war zombies dominate your neighbor BLACK AND RED theme that so many companies cant seem to get rid off. That little LED on that bridge really sells a beautiful build, and can be really frustrating for some people after the spend $700+ dollars AND NOT GET IT. Especially when it sooooooooo simple... And from our perspective (though admittedly, possibly uninformed) no reason NOT to include it.

Sometimes it really is the small things in life :/ but if not for the LED, then the coil whine issues, difference in coolers that everyone is supposedly freaking out about, the higher prices with no backplates included, the fact that they're louder and hotter than quite a few of the competitors' cards, all kind of paint this little red flag for me in this generation, that has me waiting and looking else where for now. The LED may or may not just be the cherry on top.

+1 lol, should have went with the Nvidia SLI bridge. It's like putting an Adidas logo on a pair of Nike's :) Other than that bridge, it is a darn good looking system!

I just saw a picture of someone running MSI 970s with the EVGA bridge lit up...I can't even express how much this pisses me off.  I know it is vain and not a functionality issue, but really EVGA?  Really?

    This is pretty funny.

+1 lol, should have went with the Nvidia SLI bridge. It's like putting an Adidas logo on a pair of Nike's :) Other than that bridge, it is a darn good looking system!

Wait you telling me it works with others, but not for EVGA themselves!

Unfortunately the NVIDIA SLI bridge will not light up on 970 either, 970 does not support the LED function on SLI bridges.

hi there evga jacob will this feature ever work has spending all this money for a sli bridge for it not to work isnt nice  and with the picture showing msi working then why wont evga sort this it looks bad for the company that another maker of card works fine but the actual makers of sli bridge cant or wont get it to work

please reply and let us no a defo answer of will it work or not in future or a reason of why when msi works fine ??? thanks backplates arrived at last today all fitted

I hear you on that and I agree!

I mean whats the point creating it in the first place? it seems that EVGA's 970's were rushed and fell shortespecially when the SLI Bridge is working for another company like MSI! and not for EVGA!?..Most of us be spending our hard earned money on their GPU products every time a newer and "better" one comes out.
Think about it, look how they "finally" coming out with a GPU with Custom Colors allowing you full color control to match your color theme, so it seems only the 980 KIngPIn will have this featureI do wish they had or will do this for all future GPU and not hold back on us loyal customers.
@ the same time I can understand the dark side of it, it's a great marketing scheme for EVGA = $$$$$ but shame on ya for that!

I swear a long time ago one of the EVGA guys posted on here that they would indeed light up. Needless to say I wasn't too happy when I plugged mine in and found out just the opposite.

Mine lights up fine on the 970 SSC. EVGA sli 2 card bridge and EVGA SSC 970s. If it makes a difference, I use it on the connectors to the inside of the card. Pics or no proof? Well, here you go. Shows they are 970SSC

    Lit up

Maybe only the fitrst ones don't light up?

I'm guessing those are the new SSCs?  The new SSC and FTW+ have been reported to light up the SLI bridge.  This thread was created before the new cards were made.  The old 970s will not light up the SLI bridge.
