    removed that version sry

above quote taken from 5.2.3 sticky post from another user.

Yep, Confirmed. my PrecisionX16 5.2.3 is causing some kind of video freezing issue. When running and up on 1st or 2nd monitor, and a fan curve active, I ran GPU-Z Render test (to get the card working) during this test after 10-30secs of moving the window of GPU-Z around, artifacting and trailing start happening until it froze the entire screen after moving window around. This same thing I guess is happening inside Dota 2 from Steam, after a few seconds of moving mouse over the top tabs in-game (play, watch, store) everything stopped and froze, sounds still heard in background. When PrecisionX16 is closed, the entire issue is gone. This + nvidia driver rollbacks of 5 different versions leave me to believe it is indeed PrecisionX16 5.2.3 causing this freezing issue.

Now weather im the only one or not i have no clue but this is happening to me and you guys should know about it :) i want to help, I guess I will report in a thread over at Software forums for this directly to see if any other people have this problem.

    as a recap for bug-reporting:

5.2.3 precision x is freezing my Dota 2, and any windows that I drag on screen
seems to be a video bug causing windows to trail and eventually freeze the screen
sounds can be heard in background
fullscreen BLUE screens appear when alt-tabbing (not BSOD just a blue screen) this is rarer and happened only about 3 times so far
watching video from VLC/Windows Media Player also showed trailing and freezes
    happens on 5.2.0
does NOT happen on older Precision X 4.2.1

precision closed = no issues at all

    i7-4770k
    GTX 770 4GB FTW
    Windows 8.1 64-bit
used Nvidia drivers 337.88 - latest 344.11 and persisted (ruled out now)

Kboost works on gtx 780 sc acx, but while kboost is enabled the overvoltage control does not override gpu voltage.(even if set to 1.212 the gpu sits at default Voltage(monitored through gpuz))
In this order. Then re-disabling overvoltage with Kboost Enabled forces the gpu voltage to ceiling out at 1.212.
Both of these are Repeatable results

Pretty much the same problems as this although I haven't tested k-boost at all.

If I leave K-Boost enabled on a Titan Black Hydro overnight that is running Folding@home, by the next morning Precision reports the GPU frequency as ~530Mhz. Folding performance drops by 2/3rds and the system power draw drops by almost 100watts so I know the ~530Mhz reading is correct.

What's worse is the frequency seems permanent until Kboost is disabled. This was WITH "prefer maximum performance" enabled in the GPU driver, and GPU temps in the mid 50's

At restart of comp 2 server osd windows pop up in the tray still .
When you get a crash due to not having the game osd exe file on the server it  reverts back to default settings.

Autostart is still not working with 5.2.3, and it did not work with 5.2.0. Worked with 4.x
OS: 8.1 x64, GTX Titan SC (not Ultra)
What it does: It adds the task to the scheduled tasks, I see it there. When I delete the task and uncheck-recheck the "startup" it does recreate the task.
When I execute the task (manually or via logoff-logon) PresicionX is for about a half second active, and then ends itself.
When I manually do what the task does, i.e. open an administrative CMD box, go to C:\Program Files (x86)\EVGA\PrecisionX 16, and manually do
    PrecisionX_x64.exe /s
the same happens, it starts for a half second, and then gone.

It does not crash, there is no event.
Apart from that annoying bug the UI of V16 is bad, that you have to click those pseudo-arrows left and right to get to the menu you want if a step back in usability. And it did not take over my previous Precision profiles, luckily my fan curve is working.
And when I see this big thread: I am not alone with the far-from-well-tested program, going back up 4.21 now which works fine.

    <edit>
And to add one more bug: the X16 installer did not clean up the scheduled tasks, the v 4.2.1 autostart task was still there, right beside the newer version of the same.
    </edit>

FPS counter in the OSD can not be enabled.  It worked in 5.2 but in 5.2.3, "show in OSD" is grayed out.

Anyone know how to resolve this?.  I performed a clean install and restarted my pc fyi.

Re: EVGA PrecisionX 16 5.2.3 bug report thread... 2014/10/14 05:15:29 (permalink)
Apologies for posting this feature request in this bug thread but it appears to be the best place to mention this.

I wish to make a feature request for future versions of EVGA Precision 16 (or later) concerning the OSD feature.

I am using 2 user accounts on my Windows 8.1 64 bit PC, one account has admin privileges while the other has standard user privileges.

I use the standard account for day to day use. If I open Precision 16 (5.2.3) with this I need to provide my admin password (using UAC), Precision then opens. However if I play a game in this user account, the OSD will not appear (I realize this is because Precision is running with admin privileges and is disconnected from a process (the game) running as a standard user).

With the older version of Precision 4.2.1 I could view the OSD while playing games in the standard user account (even though RTSS.exe ran with admin privileges). Would it be possible to start/spawn another (child) process with standard privileges to enable the display of the OSD within a standard user account (to play games)? The workaround I am currently using is to switch to the admin account and play games with Precision running in that user account. Playing the games using the admin account, the OSD appears as expected (even though the game is not running with admin privileges).

It would be fantastic if this feature could be implemented (although I realize the above use case is very rare). Thanks for your time.

Edit: 27th November 2014: This feature has been implemented and works in version 5.2.6. Many thanks for this!

This is interesting, you're the first person other than me that I've seen posting this. I also see this happen in BF4 sometimes, it's not a driver crash because the screen doesn't go black, there is no TDR etc etc. It's simply dropped frequency to that ~530MHz. Nothing I do fixes it unless I exit the game.

Note that k-boost doesn't work for me so there's one difference between us.

Be smart and uninstall this new garbage tuner its a perfect example of bad programmers at work. Download the legacy version 4.2.1 and then install rivatuner 6.2(by unwinder) for the 64 bit OSD. Problem solved.

I still cannot get "Small Font" to work correctly in the "OSD 2/2" menu.
"Small Font" erroneously acts the same as "Medium Font", on my Logitech G15 v2 keyboard.

Can you please finally fix this issue?

    Thanks,
    Jacob

    ----

Please please PLEASE fix the "Font Size Keyboard LCD" setting for "Small Font"!
It is not working on my Logitech G15 v2 keyboard. It ends up using the same font size as "Medium Font". :(

    I found C:\Program Files (x86)\EVGA\PrecisionX 16\Profiles\EVGAPrecision.cfg
I see where you are setting FontSizeKeyboardLCD value correctly to 0:
    <add key="/Settings/FontSizeKeyboardLCD" value="0"/>
... I see that it is correctly being read as 0, and written as 0.
... But I cannot determine why it has no effect!

Please look at your code, and fix it! Are you passing that value correctly to the Logitech LCD applet launcher?

    BUG:
The key F5 is permanently bound to taking a PrecisionX screenshot, despite me setting the option for a different key, or clearing it entirely. F5 is used in my game, and your bug is causing 400ms screen lag every time F5 is pressed.

Please fix this. PrecisionX 16 5.2.3

Still no OSD and it still creates problems for the games I play, like Divinity - Original Sin. It makes my cursor in Divinity either disappear after ALT+TAB or simply not work. Normally, arrow cursor changes to hand symbols when you point it at something that can be picked up, but Precision X 16 prevents arrow cursor from changing to anything else. Back to 4.2.1.

This is so horrible! I mean even if the new update fixes some bugs, a ton of them will still be there and Precision X is NOT going to become an option for anyone who values stability. It is in ALPHA stage or BETA stage at best. EVGA should've stuck with RivaTuner instead of stealing bits of code and trying to call it their own, while unable to actually get them to work like they should. Its shameful. Precision X 16 SHOULD BE TAKEN DOWN until it gets much better. Its not a stable product.

EVGA PrecisionX 16 is causing Skyrim to crash on launch. I have a modded game, but it doesn't crash when I remove all the mods. I spent a lot of time modding the game, and I'd like to play it that way. I'm currently running windows 8.1 64-bit.

The F5 key bug is caused by Precision X permanently binding that key to taking a screenshot, as I indicated 4 posts up. In addition to being highly annoying, this bug also made me waste a gig of my backup space, since File History was monitoring the folder it was saving screenshots to.

    Please fix this bug, eVGA.

I have had Precision X 4.2.1 for a long time with no issues. I tried both 5.2.0 and 5.2.3 and they both cause SERIOUS input lag with BF4 and BF3 only. Not sure if it's an origin thing but I reverted back to 4.2.1 and all is fine. Am I the only one with this issue?

Precision OSD server does not work well with executables that have spaces in the file name.

    Steps to reproduce
    1) Add an executable with a space in the name to the OSD server exclude list. (Example Diablo III.exe)
    2) Restart Precision so that it has to reparse the exclude list.
    3) Open OSD server.

    Actual Results
Diablo III.exe is split into two entries, diablo and iii.exe, since the server exclude list uses spaces as delimiters.

    Expected results
There should be only 1 entry in the list
    diablo iii.exe

I also posted this problem on another topic.

First of all, sorry for my bad english.

    I'm having problems "overheating" with Precision X 16 5.2.3.
the previous version, skyrim ran the 56/61 ° C with the fan locked at 46%. Now it is at 82 ° C, with automatic option makes it much effort / noise to keep at 62 ° C.

Edit: I noticed now that all games are run at the same temperature, games "light" simply become "heavy".

    I'm using a GTX 760 2GB

I don't think the "TEMPERATURE HYSTERESIS" setting is working at all. I have set it to 3*C, alongside "FAN SPEED UPDATE PERIOD" of 1000 MS... However I am still witnessing the fan change % values every single time the temperature changes, on GPU 3 (GTX 460) of a 3-GPU system (GTX 660Ti, GTX 660Ti, GTX 460).

Can you please fix the Hysteresis?

There has been a thread for every revision up to 5.2.6 so far, so this is just one of them. We definitely see your thread and appreciate you creating it. Hopefully EVGA is doing their best to get this perfected for us.
