I recently updated my Precision X 4.2.1 app with Precision XOC 6.0.7 when I installed my GTX 1070 FE. 6.0.7 would take a minimum of 20 seconds to boot up and within that time most things were nonfunctional e.g. my keyboard would not register key strokes for 1 to 2 seconds later. Every boot was like this until the app was up and running, even then my system overclock became unstable. I know this because I uninstalled it, deleted the file folder and re-installed Precision X 4.2.1 and my system was stable again running Real Bench. I was going to ask what version of Precision XOC works best with Pascal but I seen a newer version is out now - 6.0.8 Has anything changed with it or is there a better more stable version to run? Thanks

As soon as I installed it I ran Real Bench and it passed but it wasn't from a cold or a reboot, maybe a reboot will throw something off.. retesting now. The app boot after a reboot still takes time to get up and running with the same non-responsive keyboard. 2 min into the test after a reboot Real Bench crashed. It's defiantly coming from the Precision XOC 6.0.8 app. Precision X 4.2.1 will not cause Real Bench to crash. This is with 375.63 drivers. When I change drivers I use that DDU app to make sure everything is uninstalled. EDIT: I'm just not sure if my system is unstable or not. That's what I'm trying to find out. I've ran IBT using 50% of my ram, 10 iterations and it passes, P95 26.6 800K small and large FFTs in-place passes. Memtest HCI passes over 100%. I've tried Precision XOC 6.0.7 with my entire system at stock clocks and settings running Real Bench and Real Bench would crash.

I haven't tried Afterburner. I thought this being an EVGA card it would be best to use this software. My motherboard is a Gigabyte, I swapped out my EVGA board a few months ago to test this board out, and to use the USB 3.0. Do you think it would still happen even with the EVGA board?

You can't disable the server unless you delete the files.

why would the file cause Windows 10 not to boot if it's renamed and the extension butchered?

The main .exe is most likely causing the problem as it will continue to search for the server files even after being renamed/deleted.

Ok, so I had to physically remove the SSD drive and hook it into my main system and search the EVGA folder. I deleted the entire folder. My system is still not booting up.

Sounds like you may need to access safe mode via windows disc/usb. Perform a system restore once you're in safe mode.

I've tried getting into safe mode 3 times and it still gets funky and says there is a boot issue 0xc000021a er something Automatic repair doesn't work, neither. EDIT:I've only had trouble when using Precision XOC

Ok, since you can't get into safe mode have you tried doing a system restore from just the advanced options menu?

I put the drive back into the machine it came from. Same issue. I don't use system restore. 5 minutes ago I was thinking I'd have to consider buying Windows 10 and just low level formatting the drive from my main rig and starting all over. I only have 2mb download so whatever I end up doing it'll take me till the end of the evening 6-8hrs worth to get everything installed again.. I upgraded from Windows 7 64b Pro. I can't log into photobucket for some reason.. might be from a browser security add-on. I wanted to upload the photo I took with my phone to post with my post.

Yes it appears so. I don't think it did anything funky but it had it's hooks too far into the OS. Like I said I renamed those server files and hacked the exe files so they wouldn't boot up, restarted the PC and from there that's when it said the hell with me and left, lol The reset option did what it was suppose to do but we'll see how the OS ended up.

I have to ask 529th why did you not just uninstall EVGA Precision OCX? Have done this at least 20 times of the last year and never had this type of a problem. Renaming Files like this now hope you know is not a wise thing to do! You say you do or do not have a backup Image to restore your OS? Do you maybe think the Real Bench and Pascal GPU just do not get alone together?

I believe the system was stable and that there was an issue between the XOC and Real Bench. The one outstanding variable was that with my other ram kit things were stable with both the previous 6.0.7. version installed and Real Bench. I was going to leave XOC installed and remove the server files.. . I didn't want the two server executable running with the XOC app, I think I might have just been using the wrong Precision, I think there is another Precision X app that doesn't have the options to upload and share things to a community bench board. I never keep a backup for things like the OS.. even on my main rig. The reset worked OK but I might just dump it as it was an upgrade from Windows 7 64b Pro, and just pickup Windows 10 Pro 64b. I have two machines that I upgraded from Windows 7 64b Pro and one is still a little different than the other like the windows defender icon is different on my main rig than the game rig, the game rig still has the old icon where the main rig has some blue looking icon with a shield or some sort.. never really looked into why it just appeared that way after a system update so i figured it would eventually appear that way on my game rig, build.

You have been warned! You do know most of the garbage files that start up with Windows can be turned of under regedit.
