I have a question.

I have a gtx 980, should I use precisionX or precisionXOC? Is PrecisionXOC just a newer version of precisionX ?

There used to be 2 separate versions for specific cards, but recently merged into one universal version for all cards. Just get the OC version.

Well, it seems that the more EVGA tries to fix this software, the more useless it becomes. Even though the load on Windows start up option is active, it DOESN'T load on Windows start up, the profile save function is still sketchy, at best. I love yer hardware, but the software supporting it is simply awful. (expletives omitted due to overzealous, easily offended moderators)

Not only do you enable startup on the main page of Precision X, you also have to click into the settings cog icon located at the
bottom right, select the general tab, then select "Start with OS" check box , click ok, test with a reboot. Common mistake.

Well, given that I did that first thing out of the box and it STILL fails to start with the OS, that's not the problem. But thanks anyways.

Yeh fair enough, worth a shot. I've seen legitimate issue's with PX start up expressed by other forum members, can't help there i'm afraid.

the Previous version of Precision KBoost was working for all cards back when precision was a good app but now with OC X no just for EVGA and MSI does have full clock boost like Kboost and it actually works but i wonder why only for evga cards now when before was for all people was using precision for that future and you only need registration on evga site to download it

For those that do not know, the PrecisionX (and XOC) Advanced Settings 'Secret menu' can be accessed from the PrecisionX main screen by hovering the mouse cursor over a blank area of the PrecisionX main screen, then pressing Shift + Ctrl + Middle mouse button..The Advanced Settings 'Secret menu' includes the option to 'Turn off KBOOST limitation (BSOD risk)' which may allow KBOOST in situations that normally would not allow KBOOST.

I do not know if it would work with an other-than-EVGA card, but I don't see why it shouldn't with any NVIDIA-based card, all you can do is try it.

Be aware there is a BSOD risk as stated..If you encounter persistent BSODs after overriding the limitation, you'll need to boot into Safe Mode and uninstall the NVIDIA Graphics Driver through Control Panel -> Programs and Features, and then reinstall the NVIDIA Graphics Driver after a normal boot using the Windows Standard VGA driver, then uncheck the 'Turn off KBOOST limitation (BSOD risk)' option after you install the NVIDA driver and fuggetabout overriding the KBOOST limitation..Not that big of a deal, and simple to recover from.

If 'Turn off KBOOST limitation (BSOD risk)' works, that's great, if not, oh well, it just won't..One KBOOST limitation (with persistent BSOD) is using a DVI-to-VGA adapter, at least it is for me, but works fine when using straight HDMI.

If you do not have an NVIDIA Graphics Driver already stored in the usual C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver folder (or otherwise), boot into Safe Mode With Networking to download a driver..It's also advisable to NOT have the 'Start Up' (Apply at Windows Startup) option in PrecisionX enabled until you're sure the 'Turn off KBOOST limitation (BSOD risk)' option works for you..You should 'Start Windows Normally' as opposed to 'Repair' if/when prompted upon restart/s..The 'Repair' Windows option on restart is a waste of time and will do nothing in the end except tell you that Windows could not be repaired, blah blah blah.

Just my input, and from personal experience here..Hope it helps.

Just updated, thanks.

Any chance of including EA Origin to OSD exclusion list as well in the next update? It seems to be showing up after the new Origin layout update.

Not sure why anyone hasnt responded to this, open PrecisionX 16 Server -> click Add and add these following .EXE's.

-origin.exe (C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin) <- For me
-originthinsetupinternal.exe (C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin) <- For me

I got auto upgraded to this version by Steam. And now it's totally fubar. The fan setting curve is not respected at all where it was working fine on the older version. My fan now runs at 210rpm until the gpu hits around 95 degrees at which point it very noisily kicks up to ~4500rpm for a few seconds, enough to drop the temperature to around 85 degrees. Then back to 210rpm, rinse and repeat. The only reason I run this crappy software with it's god awful UI is to get sensible fan behavior. And now it doesn't even manage that.

And don't get me started on the necessary to provide name and email address to even use the software. Or the necessity to provide your full address just to sign up to this forum to Foul language removed, please respect the terms of service about this abysmal software that needs 770 threads (!) to fail to do it's job.

Go to control panel, Programs, uninstall programs then choose EVGA Precision XOC then choose Uninstall.   Glad I could help.

The full name and address is required if EVGA is going to send you items, and applies toward the EVGA store, as your profile extends across the entire evga site, to include the forum.

I highly suggest utilizing the stand alone version of Precision if you don't want it automatically updated by steam.

Thank you for the report on what is happening, and hopefully evga can work toward making the software better.

Now, vulgar language is against the terms of service shown in the general discussion thread. Please refrain from posting vulgar language.

Re: EVGA Precision XOC 6.0.7 Released 2016/10/02 23:57:42 (permalink)

After installing the new Precision X OC I'm unable to adjust the pixel clock. When I click "ok" it just reverts back to default.

System Info: 16GB RAM, Core i7 2700k @3.5Ghz, EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti Superclocked w/ EVGA ACX Cooler, OCZ SSD (boot drive), 2TB HDD (game drive)

I did not had any issue changing the pixel clock before XOC, I have the latest NVIDIA drivers, currently that is 372.90 Date:09/20/2016. When I first did the reinstalled I was v6.0.6 XOC, however I have since uninstalled 6.0.6, deleted the EVGA folder, rebooteded and installed 6.0.7. This seems to make no difference. I tried uninstalling the X OC, and I installed X16 and everything works exactly as expected.

I got k-boost working on msi afterburner v4.3.0 beta 4. Works fine with my two pascal titan x's.

Ahhh AB finally added K-Boost huh?
When I enable K-Boost in PX 6.0.7, I restart PrecisonX, my core clocks don't stick to desired offset, and the voltage fluctuates still.
As far back as I can remember K-Boost is suppose to lock both the core and voltage to desired setting(MAX), which it currently doesn't with .90 driver.
I guess I'll try deleting my Evga folder and try to re-install PX 6.0.7 and give it another try after work tonight. I have gotten better Benchmark results leaving voltage alone, oddly enough.

No. You have to use a older evga precision x skin with afterburner to make it work.

anyone else getting the precisionX 16 Server window popping up on bootup, and as soon as you click it it closes, and then pops back up.. over and over.. Even though the OSD is turned off... And while its doing this if I try and click and drag the main precision window around i can only move it a few pixels before focus is lost on the window..

the only way ive been able to stop it is to close precision down and then reopen it

pretty annoying to say the least, the previous version did not do this at all

*edit*

so i decided to try a reinstall again.. and now it doesnt even want to start after booting.. the task is present and it even says the task completed successfully, but precision does not open :-(

it seems I'm using nearly 4 terabytes of Vram, and I'm just guessing that's not accurate.

Users have reported that windows 10 build 1607 is causing the issue. I'm running version 1511 and have no issues.

Seems what happens is that the Vram usage goes down, but never goes back up, and it when it drops below zero, it bugs out and says 4 mil+ MB used

I'm not sure if this is related, but when I enable SLI, it switches the position of the GPUs, top GPU is listed at GPU 2 and bottom at GPU 1

two different ways to over clock:
1) move the slider on the first page
2) move the curve on the second page

How do these interact? They are not additive.

Re: EVGA Precision XOC 6.0.7 Released 2016/10/05 23:21:58 (permalink)
I overclocked my 1070 with version 6.0.6, then upgraded to 6.0.7.  Now the software behaves like it thinks that my overclock is now the default factory setting.  The GPU and Memory clock offset sliders are sitting at zero even though my card is clocked at 1900/4000MHz.  If I click the "default" button, nothing happens (presumably because XOC already has the offset sliders zeroed out).

No combination of uninstalling 6.0.7, reinstalling 6.0.6, or installing MSI Afterburner can fix this.  My system thinks the default clock is 1900/4000MHz. What happened? :-(

If it's important, I am running the Win10 Anniversary Update (Had to, couldn't install the new NVidia drivers on the build I was running before).

What is the correct version to be using with my SLI 980TI? I was gonna download the X16 version but on the website it says that XOC now supports all EVGA cards. I could make the argument that it was intended to mean that all 1000 series EVGA cards are supported, but the message is on the X16 page.

Sub topic, has anyone found away to turn off the shortcut keys? I uses a program called snagit and the prtscrn button conflicts with snagit.

Well that lasted about 3 days lol start up at os start up stopped working

try toggling general checking box os start up and menu checking start up  both dont work.

Can i ask a question why wont you just put it in regular windows 10 start up under msconfig i noticed when evga  was doing it like it should have i still never saw it in windows start up?

every program like itunes etc has at start up and they show up in the actual start up menu msconfig yours never does regardless if its working correctly or not?

i would like this program to actually be listed in start up like all normal programs that automatically put themselves in the start up menu so they actually start on start up.

Just updated, thanks.

Any chance of including EA Origin to OSD exclusion list as well in the next update? It seems to be showing up after the new Origin layout update.

Not sure why anyone hasnt responded to this, open PrecisionX 16 Server -> click Add and add these following .EXE's.

-origin.exe (C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin) <- For me
-originthinsetupinternal.exe (C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin) <- For me

When hitting run the app will freeze on the first voltage point adjustment once it reaches 150, how am I suppose to let it scan my entire system to figure out the best voltage point for my GPU if it freezes on the first step? Am I doing something wrong? Also should I let it stay running in default mode, where it's only 720p and no AA and 10 sec Test Period? Thanks in advance.
