Using two different devices (Asus Transformer Tablet TF101, Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus), and utilizing both WiFi and Bluetooth connections:
I can confirm that this fix (new App version and new bridge.exe replacement) stops the crash-on-connect that was happening. However, I'm still getting a "No GPU to Control". Even after a clean reboot.

So I remove all of the EVGA Precision X. Reinstall it (skipping RTSS because I have a later version), replace the bridge.exe, disable external monitoring, re-enable it. _NOW_ it works over BT and WiFi. However, only one device can connect at a time, and I need to reset the bridge.exe app (exit it and it auto-respawns), if I want to connect another device. Annoying, but at least it works for one device at a time.

    TL;DR -
    1. Update Precision X android app
    2. Re-Install Precision X desktop
    3. replace bridge.exe
    4. Reboot
    5. disable/re-enable external control in Precision X settings
    6. Connect with app via WiFi or BT (if BT, pre-establish your BT pairing first)

I replaced the bridge.exe file, now when I launch Precision X on my desktop, it continues to launch multiple Bridge.exe files and gives me the "do you want to run this file" prompt.  after 30 or 40 of these it will finally crash and stop.

I manage to get it working.   I launched the new Bridge.exe app and when only a single prompt asked if I wanted to run the app, I selected never ask me again for this program. After launching PrecisionX again, bridge.exe starts, and I was then able to select connect over wifi.

Works very well, but is there any way to make it default to Wi-Fi? I get the dialog on every start up, which is annoying.

Probably don't need to say this to many of you, but I was absent minded enough to forget that my firewall can interfere with incoming network connections. Adding a rule allowing incoming and outgoing connections to precision.exe fixed all issues for me, hope this can help someone.

Re: EVGA Precision X for Android - Crashing Fix 2013/12/19 07:26:26 (permalink)
EDIT: Got it working.  Basically, ignore the IP address it lists (I have multiple NICs and multiple subnets on my machine - i guess it picked the wrong one to say what IP it had).  Use your actual machine's IP.  There are many ways to find this, but the easiest (for me) is to open a CMD prompt and type "ipconfig."

I tried this TCP IP WiFi and it didn't work.

First and foremost, the instructions here aren't compatible with Windows 8/8.1 default security.  If you "download a file", in this case the bridge.exe zip, windows marks the file as unsafe.  You have to right-click the file and click the button that says "Unblock".  Else, PrecisionX will go crazy opening dozens (hundreds?) Of copies because you are prompted to allow the exe.

Next, the default IP it gives itself seems to be using 192.168.x.x.  Well, this is all well and good with default unsecured networks.  But, I run a different IP subnet to isolate my network segments.  In my case, I am on 172.16.x.x for my gaming/work segment to isolate the traffic from my web servers on my managed switch.

Point being, I can't connect to that 192.168 ip from my android, which is also on that 172.16.x.x segment.  Ill try to dig into the config files to see if this can be set manually.  I'll also try to set a similar second IP via android, but that might be limited even if I am rooted.

Is there a command line argument we can use to set the IP?

Yes firewall allows port/turned off BTW.

Wifi Access to EVGA Precision X! 2013/12/19 12:24:52 (permalink)
Didn't see this posted, so here it is...

This "patch" also includes WiFi access - not only Bluetooth!  You check the same box for enabling access from external Bluetooth connection, which also now includes the WiFi access.  When you start EVGA precision, you are prompted for Bluetooth or WiFi access.  Clicking WiFi, and open port 49999 on your firewall.  Go find your IP address of your gaming rig, and head over to the latest Android app.  When adding, it can ask you for an IP address.  Type it in, and BAM - wifi access!

I was surprised this wasn't included with the latest EVGA Precision X download v4.21 since this was patch/post was released in September, and here it is almost xmas.

Anyhoot... Finally, I can monitor my Titans and keep 'em from overheating when gaming in Battlefield 4 64-bit, over wifi!

It would be nice if this app worked without having to jump through all the hoops to get it to work :(

The app will connect to my PC after entering my IP address, and then reliably inform me that the connection was lost after about 10 seconds.

How do I get it to remain connected? I added evga Precision X to the Windows Firewall exception.

Same, the last version of PrecisionX, PrecisionX 16, not have that option to enable external control in General Settings menu and not have the Bridge folder into installation folder.
Not is possible to connect android devices to the new PrecisionX 5.2.6?
With the older version it works.

This was for older precision. If you want to utilize this feature, you will have to go back to 4.2.1 at least. 5.2.* is still under development and does not support Bluetooth at this time, so the feature won't work until they have all of the kinks worked out.
