Cool GTX You misunderstood me. Even if we are talking 1 stock number of GPU --- the power sockets are molded and have tolerances ---- they are rigid soldered to the PCB - which has tolerances So the assembled PCB with soldered sockets, has stacked tolerances --- the rigid Power Link like wise has stacked tolerances. So unless they have some wiggle room in the Power Link design -- issues are bound to happen as you have two rigid ports to align on both parts Sure hope the sockets in the Power Link can float - mounted in silicone or urethane and self align with out stressing the PCB and solder joints
Sorry, I doubt that it is as complex as all that. Seems they can just snap in wired connectors... no need for a pcb, its just a hard, shaped extension. 1070 FTW 8+8 connector, X 2.. 32 crimped pins, 16x lead wires, molded housings... cheap , easy. Hell, I'll mold em, if they will let me.. crimp, assemble, QC and ship if EVGA wants. Still need one for myself though.. so hurry up already EVGA..

Saw a video the other day: Actually it is a bus bar system; which explains how they will adjust for each GPU.

Just a heads up.. Heres my situation, I purchased two Nvidia GTX 1080's one for me one for my son, it wasnt until I went to register them that I was told that EVGA and Nvidia are different, I was under the impression that EVGA and Nvidia were the same, well I missed out on two free games and two free powerlinks while paying $699.99 each. Just info for those out there buying these cards from EVGA/Nvidia, they are different and dont offer the same benefits/perks. While EVGA does offer perks, Nvidia does not. All of my previous GPU's and PSU's are EVGA, and not Nvidia, I will definitely pay closer attention to what "name" I am purchasing in the future.

Was really hoping this would provide some much needed additional clearance for the height of some of the taller cards (i.e. FTW/Classy etc.) But looking at the pictures, and the one below in particular, it doesn't seem that will be the case . I originally thought the "bar" width would be the only offset, but clearly you still have the full original connector and THEN the width of this Power Link. What I am really wanting is a 1070 FTW for my Air240 build and it looks like I will still just need to go with low profile "90deg" connectors to keep the wiring from pressing up hard against the window. Or go with a different likely reference based card (Gaming, SC or FE).

Nvidia and AMD make the chips with the reference boards. Then third party companies, called ABI partners, take the reference design and modify it, keeping the same chip on the board but adding more power connectors, bigger coolers... So every EVGA card has a Nvidia chip on it (EVGA doesn't make AMD cards). The rewards you speak of are for who you buy it from. If you buy from Nvidia then it will be the reference card, and from EVGA it is prob the EVGA card with Nvidia chip. So you have a 980 and a 1080 in your rig? Do yourself a favor and sell the 980, it does nothing. You cannot SLI a 980 and 1080.

Negative. Any card with up to 2 pcie power connectors towards the end of the card is good to go. Unless they reversed the plug that is. Regarding the heights they needed room for the adjustable placement of the connectors as well as the voltage rails. But this also makes it a more universal adapter that can work on most AIB cards, even AMD cards.

Just installed mine, and I actually think it reduced my clearance, i.e. the width of the powelink arm on top of the width of the connector, as shown in _cramil's pic, is actually more than if I just had the wires coming out of the card, because the wires can be bent away while the powerlink can't. Also, if you install the side arm flush with the card body, the end of the top arm covers up the edge of the LED lit text on the 1070 FTW. _cramil, do you have a link to one of these 90-deg connectors you speak of?
