I'll answer again. You need 60mm. Each slot is 20 mm apart, each GPU is 40 mm thick. You have one 20mm space between cards, or "1 slot".

Shaman got it in before I could.

Sorry, Scarlet.  I'll go slower next time.

What use is knowledge if there is no understanding?~Stobaeus

Great thanks.

I ordered this one since the HB ones are out of stock.

https:// www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00X5X3LQY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

What is the difference?

This is not the new SLI HB bridge, it is just a LED bridge.
There are some differences:

Yea the HB bridge seems to be sold out everywhere. But should not matter, I'm not running 5k or 3D surround, only 1440p at 120hz and occasionally 4k.

Thanks guys!

cancel the Amazon order and wait for a High Bandwidth bridge to become available. use the ribbon cable sli bridge that came with your MB until then.

Why buy a bridge that will limit what you can do?

Where does it limit me? I'll never run surround and and before I'm able to run 5k, there need to be cards that can run 4k smoothly.

TPU present NVIDIA GTX1080 SLI ...

https://www.techpowerup.c...ce_GTX_1080_SLI/1.html

70fps on 4K in Crysis 3, 77 fps in Far Cry Primal, 95 in GTA 5...
That mean GTX1080 SLI should be option for gamers who bought 4K monitors and want to play in native resolution.
One thing is very important, fps is almost double compare to single GTX1080 and looks like NVIDIA really
optimized better SLI in games with this generation and because of that they limited GTX1080 on SLI configuration.

thanks, this info really helped.

So it would appears the HB bridge only works on 16x16?

I thought it worked independently from the PCI lanes and it's a direct connection?

I thought so too, but these are the results I got. Looks like there are no benefits at 8x/8x.

because it hasn't been released yet.  They initially stated early July, but they are still waiting on the bridges to release them.

Are there any difference other than looks between the Nvidia HB bridge and EVGA's? My Nvidia bridge arrived earlier than my 1080s did and it's just sitting there.

Ok, I have two 980ti Hybrids bridged with a EVGA Pro SLI Bridge 2-Way (100-2W-0021-LR).
Getting two 1080 FTW with the intention of Surround with (3) 4K screens.
Would I need a better bridge ?

After reading all the pages in this thread I have come to the conclusion "yes" a HB bridge will be needed...

Thanks anyway...

Re: EVGA PRO SLI BRIDGE HB 2016/07/16 13:27:59 (permalink)
One thing i've noticed when testing bridges is that when the elastic bridge is connecting 2x 1080's, in the nvidia control panel it gives the message 'using a high bandwidth SLI bridge would improve performance.' Or words to that effect. Then when you put a HB bridge in the machine, that message is gone. But the interesting part is, i have this EVGA bridge also: http://cdn.overclock.net/b/bb/500x1000px-LL-bbba247d_ProSli.jpeg. The EVGA pro SLI bridge 3-way (the one on the right in the picture). Its not a HB SLI bridge but because it connects both SLI sockets on each of the 2 1080's, the nvidia control panel sees it as a HB bridge and doesn't show the message telling me to put in a better one.

I've tried benchmarking both the HB SLI bridge and the EVGA LED 3-way SLI bridge and both are yielding very very similar results - only a few points discrepancy in Firestrike Ultra between them.

Re: EVGA PRO SLI BRIDGE HB 2016/07/17 10:17:49 (permalink)
is there some possibility that this bridge will improve performance even on a GTX980 Ti SLI?
I'm using the old EVGA Led Bridge, should I upgrade to this one with a GTX980 Ti SLI?

No and No.
Only Pascal generation see some improvements in 5k resolution and Surround config.
