Pretty much. You only need a new hb bridge if you're running 4k surround or 5k. 4k and below will work just fine with a LED type bridge.

There is the potential for using the extra data lanes for things that sli doesn't do today over 1 tab bridges. imo. so getting a HB bridge can future proof the configuration. maybe.

it seems that the increase in performance is achieved when the cards are configured pci ex 8x 8x ... if the cards are 16x 16x does not have performance gains seem

Really? so are you saying that no one runs two FE's in sli?

Actually this makes sense in light of the fact that when the inter-card communication saturates a single bridge that it begins to use the PCI-E lanes. However I haven't seen any explicit tests for this. Is there a valid benchmark that demonstrates this statement, or are you conjecturing?

This doesn't sound like a carefully executed series of tests. interesting, but there are too many variables.
If it is true, then I presume that even in the 16x - 16x configuration that there is sli traffic taking place on the PCI bus, which isn't a good thing if you can get it off the bus. Any tests should take random load on the PCI bus from other devices to be closer to real-world example.

Can the LED switch at the bottom of the bridge be changed while hot, or does the PC need to be shutdown before changing the LED color with the switch?

I changed mine while it was on. No issues doing that so you should be good.

If I convert a fan-cooled GTX 1070 to use a water block (specifically, the EK-FC 1070), will the EVGA HB bridge work with it?  I know that the Nvidia HB bridge is too wide.

Never mind.  Silly me.  I found the answer in another thread on this forum:  "Yes".

I´m running 2x1080GTX FE with 2 ribbon bridges provided by my motherboard, I play games at 2560x1440 @ 144Hz Gsync On, the change to a HB bridge will be only cosmetic, nothing will be improved?

Tks

All the statistics so far point to the 2 ribbon bridges not negatively  impacting game performance at 2560x1440.

I see...so the only advantage of SLI HB will be above 4k?

It looks that way, based on benchmarks so far. That said, cards in SLI will push sli traffic onto the PCI bus if they are overloaded, so I will get a HB bridge to mitigate that possibility as well as to future proof my configuration.

Same here, I´m gonna buy right now on Amazon.com one EVGA 2 slot HB bridge, it´ll look pretty nice glowing in Red on my NZXT Phantom 530 and it is also future proof as you said, the cons is just the price, to receive in Brazil I need to expend about 100 US dollars for a 40 buck item LOL

Re: EVGA PRO SLI BRIDGE HB 2016/07/01 09:51:41 (permalink)
From what I heard the HB bridge won't increase FPS really at all..   maybe 1% faster.     The biggest advantage for the HB bridge is with reduced stuttering.     With regular SLI bridge it's common to get micro-stuttering.    Nvidia mentioned this in the 1080 reveal the HB bridge would reduce stuttering especially at 4K resolutions.
