when you first start clocking, can you go right to the 40x multiplier? hell if i got my chip to 4.4ghz id be happy. pretty happy with it now though

A quick question.

You mentioned that if its getting 75c+ temps its too hot. You do mean underload while running p95 right? Were you able to keep it below those temps with 1.49 vcore?

I can barely keep below those temps underload with the cpu on a waterblock.

Hello Everyone,

ive done everything the guide has said relating to cpu overclocking/settings.  I set my memory settings to 1600freq and default settings.  However, when i open up EVGA E-LEET utility tool, it tells me my DRAM Freq is at 800.

and its saying my clocks are 11-11-11-28

When they should be 9-9-9-24

Any help would be great thanks!

800 reading is correct, you are using DDR memory = Double Data Rate, 800X2=1600.

Set your memory timings manually for both channels.

system ...
p67 ftw
corsair vengeance 1866 16gb
corsair ax1200 power
i2600k
dual evga 580 video cards
dual water loops, 1 for video cards , 1 for memory and cpu

So far i am stable at 4.6 ghz .
video water loop under stress testing with evga oc scanner with 1920 only hits max of 34 on one card and 32 on the other.

This seems to be a sweet spot can get it somewhat stable at 4.8

(haven't tested too much as voltage needs a huge jump to over 1.3x and temps were too high for my liking around 72, also can get it to boot at 5.0 but havent bothered to try to get it stable as temps would again be too high for daily driving.)
(i had to bump up the bclk to 10020 otherwise efleet shows 99.8  any idea?
Issues:

1. bclk not keeping in bios after reboot.
2. efleet not showing any clock speeds in overclock tab and incorrect video clock speeds (I believe the incorrect video speed is the secondary card which is current not in sli going into a p8 or p12 reduced power state, however picking one  card or the other does not show the correct speeds of the active card ever).
Currently prime 95 testing so far stable at 4.6 10020 bclk at 1.250 volts with idle temp at about 35 and max at about 62.
Still working downwards on voltages to see how low i can go

c1,c3 e are off turbo on , and without vdroop on

3. Another issue i have is that i cannot seem to change the name of the profiles in the bios, again is this a known issue.

Thanks for all your help with the guide and any questions you can answer.

I see others at 4.5GHz getting about 119Gflops on linx or IBT but i'm only able to achieve 98Gflops after much tweaking. I have tried multiple boards, different ram. for what ever reason i can not get my ram stable at 2133 so i have it running at 1867 @ 8-9-9-24 Any ideas? i'm at 4.5GHz at 1.335v

Re:EVGA P67 Quick Overclocking Guide 2012/02/25 13:49:12 (permalink)
well I came up with few new questions, I was curious to see what all those PLL, PCH, VCCIO Voltages means, and what they do, so I found this guide
http://www.masterslair.com/vcore-vtt-dram-pll-pch-voltages-explained-core-i7-i5-i3/

My question is what is the advantage of OCing by using BCLK?
like for example, if I wanna archive 4.2GHz and I set BCLK=10500KHz (105MHz indeed), and my CPU multiplier = 40
                                 or
leave BCLK = 10000KHz (default), and my CPU multiplier = 42
they bout leading me to the same goal 4.2GHz CPU speed, but what difference does it makes? and what is the best way?
Thank you for any input on this.....

You should only use the multiplier - only overclocking enthusiasts should use BLCK tweaking..
for example..
max bootable multi of my 2700k is 55x = 5500 MHz.
With 105 MHz BLCK the final clock is 5775 MHz.

Max 3Dmark11 works with 5300 MHz on the EVGA P67 SLI - with the ASUS M4E I'll reach 5600 3Dmark11 stable.
But the P67 SLI cost only the half..

I'm waiting for the EVGA Z77 FTW - now with offset :)

Re:EVGA P67 Quick Overclocking Guide 2012/03/25 19:31:17 (permalink)
It's a nice guide, helped me get easily to 4.5GHz (multi 45) with almost standard "Turbo" vcore, now using 1310mV and seems I am able to pass 3 rounds of LinX 0.6.4 (w/ AVX).

however I am running a permanent OC with all power saving features disabled in BIOS (optional in Jacob's guide). for some reason my Windows doesn't want to boot up when I enable them back on, the result is STOP error 101 on loading the welcome screen. all works fine and passes stress testing when I disable them.

Thats probably why he suggested disabling them.  The stop 101 error almost always indicates too low vCore. You have two things to try here, either lower the overclock and see if the problem goes away or try raising the vCore and see if the problem stops. Do you have CPU PLL Voltage Override enabled and vDroop disabled?

I actually had to do neither, simply disabling the power saving features saved the day. my guess is that downclocked (power saved) CPU was not stable with automatically lowered voltage (god knows what it was at), while at full power it's still stable.

yes, I enabled the PLL override. running without the vdroop . will try 20 rounds of LinX overnight at same settings to see if vcore is OK or still too low.

Re:EVGA P67 Quick Overclocking Guide 2012/03/25 19:58:38 (permalink)
yea, I disable them too, otherwise I was getting STOP 0X000104 I believe, and anyway those down-clocking feature don't save you any power in between, and I know for sure because in my battery back up LCD I can monitor real time KW/h energy consuming, and with those EIST and other power saving features I was IDLE at 1600GHz CPU clock and consuming  189W/h on my wall power outlet, with out,, I IDLE at max CPU frequency 4400MHz and IDLE at 195W/h on the wall plug so the saving is so minimal it don't even pay to keep those option on in my opinion.
Video cards down-clock is useful, when my 470 rev up to 625MHz the computer start drawing 600W/h from my wall power outlet.

If you have the RAM multiplex set to AUTO is going to set it lower for some reason, I have my G-SKILL RIPJAWS X DDR3 2133 and if I set on auto it will run it at 1600, once I set it manually to DDR3 2133  now is running at what is suppose to, about the timing you can either use 1 or the 2 profiles available or set you timing manually to what the manufacture of the ram is telling you. If you all-ready did I don't know what to tell you, that is the only think I can think of.
Good Luck

ok, if you wanna make sure at what your memory RAM is realy running at, even use CPU-Z or simply download E-LEET, then go to the window memory next to CPU and see at what your mem is running what ever # comes up that is your effective memory speed and you have to multiply it by 2 the result is your memory speed, look mine as example shows 1064.4 X 2 = 2128.8 so I know I am running at what I set it in the BIOS, that may save you a lot of time, if E-LEET shows 800 then you will have to trouble shoot.

If you have the power saving option enabled, like EIST and C1, it's normal, the CPU will down clock and the Vcore will decrease when you not using your CPU at 100%, go to your advance CPU setting and disable all the power saving options, and then you will be able to see the Vcore and the CPU clock speed you set at all the time, + if you leave those power saving options enable you will run into problems later when you will do higher OC for some reason, it will BSOD of lock up your machine, just disable them you will save headache later and in between the power saved is few Watts on hour, so is not even worth to keep them on anyway.
Good Luck

has the P67 sli been tested wit the IB class yet? i know it'll support it can support it, but has anyone tried it yet? has there been a memory update list if so? high memory on SB was 2133 and now IB is 2600? with all the 680 card users has anyone confirmed the usage of PCI-e 3.0?
