cpuz has a list of "to-do's" as far as i can tell concerning z68 chipsets. stick with eleet to give the "and that's that" answers.

low vcore will not affect those tests, its frequency and stability.

it looks fine, gflops will go up when you OC your memory.

if you pass linx keep going lower until you fail to post, bsod, or hard lock

Re:EVGA P67 Quick Overclocking Guide 2011/10/07 06:10:52 (permalink)
so vcore is good then at 1.3v with 4.5ghz? wow i thought maybe the vcore was to low...lol thats great!
and good i hope the gflops go up...lol when i had an unstable oc at the same speed, but ram at 1866 my gflops were 57 average.
i will run some more tests on the 4.5ghz oc just to be sure first. i have to admit im happy at 4.5ghz and cant really go to much more on the vcore. loads at 1.32 without vdroop at a max of 72 on the hottest core peak, so maybe 1.325v will be my max i believe that should give me around 75 degrees max load maybe a bit ore, but either way under 80 for sure which i feel is good to keep the chip under 80 degrees max load. would say that is a good temp threshold? to stay under 80 degrees max load?

btw having all 4 sticks of ram in now still, will this affect my oc on the cpu once i remove 2 stick when i start to up the mhz for the ram? i would like to get stable at 1866mhz on my ram with 2 sticks and see ow that goes, of course 4 would be great, but at the same time i dont want to stress my imc anymore than i need to. its rated for 1066/133 right? so 1866mhz would stress it as is right?

just want to be sure before moving forward. thank you guys. am i on the right track from the post?

Im retesting the current 4.5ghz oc @ 1.3v w/o vdroop and all 4 stiks of ram at defualt speed (1066mhz)

running linx now 20 passes just to be sure (15 of 20 passes so far)

Im not sure how much higher i can go though. i thought 5ghz took alot of vcore?

Ok so linx seems to hold as well as the cpu at 4.5ghz with 1.3v

so i guess my next question is, do i stay at 4.5ghz or try for higher. my temps look ok i think and 1.3v for 4.5ghz holds great imo.

so higher ghz with more vcore/ same

or

4.5ghz and lower vcore if  can

???

Yea, 5ghz takes alot of vcore.  I only did it once and even then I had my h100 rigged to a window ac unit.  Even with all of the cold air i think i was mid 70's.

so would you say i found my sweet spot then?  is 1.3v w/o vdroop good for 4.5ghz or could ibe lower/higher ect?

here my ram - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145330

there 9-10-9-27 at 2000mhz 1.65v

so if i go with 2 stick of ram for now at 1866mhz what is a good start for timming to try and volatage? also would the accio have to be raise then?

your temps look good at 1.3v , for gaming and most other programs you will not notice much (if any) difference > 4.5

for 5ghz you typically need a minimum of 1.4v and some need over 1.5 to do it.  It all depends on the cpu, each one is different in how much power it needs.  There is a 5ghz club thread here, take a look though it and look at what their vcore and temps are and that'll give you a good idea.

start at 1866, vDIMM 1.65, try without changing VCCIO first.
Try 9-10-9-27, leave cmd rate on auto

if that works try 9-9-9-27
if that doesn't work try the vccio at 1.1

you can start with 2 sticks and once you get a solid run try and put the other 2 in.

Re:EVGA P67 Quick Overclocking Guide 2011/10/07 09:23:20 (permalink)
ok so 1866/1867 ram speeds pass with 2 stick for 8gb's at 9-10-9-27 timmings at 1.65v

eleet shows ran at 1.63v even underload, does this mean i could run 1.63v instead of 1.65v?

also i noticed my max load temps went up a small bit from before, i assume its because my imc is running the higher mhz?

would i be pushing the imc to much to run all 4 sticks? im ok with 8gb tbh for now.

what would you recommend now?

btw- i will try 9-9-9-27 soon. im worried about stressing the imc to much tbh.

also if 9-9-9-27 runs good, then is it possiable to lower volatges until stable?

cpu and ram? (ram maybe if its runs at 1.63v, i guessing here)

Re:EVGA P67 Quick Overclocking Guide 2011/10/07 09:47:09 (permalink)
a .01v or .02v difference is not a big deal, I'm dialed in at 1.61 and it shows 1.6 in eleet

first get your timings to where you like it, then you can lock in the vDIMM

your max temps are perfectly fine for a LinX run

see if you can hit 9-9-9-27, if you want to go further after that you can start lowing the 27. tbh you're not going to notice a difference even if you get it to CAS8 other than when benchmarking.

Are you running something in the background while doing the LinX ?  Your GFlops are about 1/2 of what mine are with my 2600K at 4.5, I am getting around 107 for mine.

also noticed when i left my pc on idle for awhile (left somewhere and came back) the idle was high imo, but there never that high normally? anythoughts as to what cause that? no one at pc, left idle.

BTW- R my gtx 580 3gb temps ok for idle?

Here is a run I just did, Stopped it early so you could see the right overclock as I have it set to throttle down when idle:

lol, your temps are still fine. you're running one of the most demanding applications out there. aside from stress programs like that, no other application will put that much strain on your pc.

when i do f @ h and it is at 100% usage i am still 10c below the temps i get when running prime95

i think i hit my personal max with the evga superclock cooler though...lol  dont want to go above 80 degrees max.

im running linx again for fun at 29000 maxing out my available ram to see what happens.

no on to the ram tweaking if i can get lower timmings ect. im going for 9-9-9-27 i think, is that normal and decent timmings for 1866mhz?
