KrlosParra Just got an answer from Jacob. I guess we can put this one to rest for a couple of months then.
Well that is disappointing. I have been die hard EVGA for over ten years. I have gone with an Asus motherboard now as EVGA has not come out with a new X99 for several years, and the one they have was unavailable. Now it seems I will go with a different video card as well. EK does not make a full cover for the FTW, I live 1000 miles from the nearest Microcenter, so it looks like if I want to finish my build before fall I will need to go a different direction. Like many here, I would be willing to wait if there was information about a release date, but I don't want to keep waiting for something which may never materialize.

I hate this. I hate the fact that we have to find out by other means rather than EVGA mentioning something.

I just ordered two 1080 FTWs. EK won't have their full block until some time in September. Will the Hydro Copper have some performance advantage over the FTW? If the Hydro copper is available before the EK block I would want to step up to that, unless there is no performance advantage.

There shouldn't be any performance difference. They would both be full waterblock. It would just be down to radiator, reservoir and fans.

While I love the hydro copper it always comes out so late after a cards release and then is extremely hard to find in stock. I just buy a vanilla card and slap a block on myself.

One of the reasons I like the HCs is the spacing between inlet and outlet. I'm using some Monsoon 90D light port fittings and it's a bit difficult to switch over to the closer port water blocks as it would require a good amount of tube routing changes. It does seem like we are in the home stretch at least. I also like the simple solid looking block. It would also have a clean look laid down with an adapter.

I have been under the impression that there would be a significant difference in the HC, that it would not be a standard card with a block, and would have a performance advantage. Probably wishful thinking on my part. We won't know until they come out, and many of will have gone a different direction by then.

I think EVGA has abandoned the Hydro Copper. They are all in for the hybrids. I don't like the hybrids, as it stands now; I have my radiator fans, and one for exhaust. I switched from ASUS to EVGA, because of the hydro copper. Now I have to by an EK water block, and an ASUS 1080, and go all surgeon on the damn card. Thanks a lot EVGA, you really know how to chase away customers.

Personally, I have bought 2 x 1080 Classys and am just waiting EK blocks as the wait for actual HC from EVGA in Europe will be a LOOOOONG one I fear (live in UK). Bigger issue for me is whether to use these on existing X79 (whilst awaiting nextgen) or go to X99 which would seem daft as X99 is already old, admittedly not as old as X79, but still old. My main reason for waiting for these are the sheer warranty factor. If you get a non WC card and remove the stuff on it, your warranty is void.. Im not paying $1000+ for cards that can be useless 6 months after for various reasons.. Im in no rush, I will wait for EVGA's Hydro's..

eVGA does not void your warranty. You simply have to put the card back into factory condition and not have done any physical damage to the card before an RMA.

You can get the MSI EK X which has the same 3 year warranty as the EVGA Hydro Copper cards. I own one after owning a 780 Classified Hydro Copper and I have no complaints other than the BIOS level voltage limit but that is a problem with all new cards right now. Actually the MSI card is the first non EVGA I have ever owned besides my first gpu which was a Radeon X1300. There is also the Zotac ArcticStorm but I am not sure on warranty on that one.

At this point I'd stay on your X79. Given how close AMD is to releasing their Zen processors, I would bet good money Intel has something really cool up their sleeves that they're only holding back in order to steal AMD's thunder. That said, my i7 6900 is sitting in a UPS truck somewhere, and I should have it next week. It'll be a monster upgrade from my X58 system.

I don't know yet but since EVGA was wise and didn't made an oversized edgy bridge like Nvidia did, their bridge is already one of the only one compatible with our 10x0 line of blocks so it's pretty safe to assume that it will be the same with the upcoming FTW and Classy blocks.

Unless you are determined to buy EVGA I would just get the MSI 1080 EK X. First none EVGA GPU I have bought since the ATI X1300 and it is the same quality and 3 year warranty as from EVGA. It easily overclocked to 2.1Ghz on core and 5.5Ghz on memory. No card is going much higher than that unless you do a hardware mod anyways. Even with modded BIOS whenever that finally happens you won't need dual 8-pin for the few people here I have seen that seem to think that is somehow going to give them a better overclock because let's be real here anymore than a single 8-pin connector is literally doing nothing without a hardware mod or modded bios. Besides I am really enjoying this competition in the waterblocked GPU segment. I don't think EVGA expected this.

I am starting to think that EVGA is simply trying to do too many different products with too few people. I'm sad to see people jumping ship just because the competition has their product out already and EVGA doesn't. Still, in the end the competition makes the whole market work harder. I hope this delay doesn't hurt EVGA too badly, and that when they finally release this it will be just what people hope and expect from EVGA, ie: the cream of the crop. Meanwhile, I'm loving my 1080 SC + EK full cover water block. It's the EVGA "hydro copper" you can actually get right now.

Don't worry, the hydro copper line does not make them much to begin with. That is a very niche group of people that buy those cards, margins are tighter as well. Most people buy SC and FTW, that is were EVGA make most of their money in the gpus anyway.
