Why the **** would you go FE... thats just burning Money. Just wait a day or two on Infos on Hybrid/Hydro Copper... since both have 2x 8-Pin, I'll guess they'll be similiar to FTW/Classiefied and will give your more OC potential...

My Fingers itch like hell, too, but not that much that I would even consider to put my Money onto the FE.

I am glad I sold my 980ti's when I did. It looks like my firestrike score will be similar.

I was getting 22,826 with the 980ti's
If the OC FE can get 20,000(guru 3D review), I am sure with the Hydro 1080 I can get close to 23,000

Any of you guys that want to grab a 1080 to step up to a hydro will be disappointed to find out you can't step up to the HC. **Usually**, the reference card is the step-up model. I just don't want anyone to be upset about learning this after the fact. The step-up can be a great program if used correctly.

http://www.evga.com/support/stepup/

Graphics Cards

  • EVGA will only release reference versions of its products, NVIDIA reference spec and clock, to the Step-Up program.
  • Step-Up is limited to pre-approved graphics cards only and can only be used for exchange to a different and higher performing GPU.
  • Products known to have a limited availability will not be made available to the Step-Up program. (Limited availability determined by EVGA.)
  • Customers who received their EVGA graphics card as part of a complete computer system are not eligible - except for those listed on our approved system vendor list.
Graphics Cards Examples:
  • GTX 780 Ti → GTX 980: YES (Upgraded GPU)
  • GTX 960 2GB → GTX 960 4GB SuperSC ACX2.0+ 1GB: YES (Upgraded Memory)
  • GTX 970 FTW → GTX 970 FTW+ : YES (Upgraded Model)

Really, I just want to know:
- when the FTW is going to be released (and when I can pre-order one, and where)
- when the classified is going to be released (and when I can pre-order one, and where)
- if EK is going to release blocks for FTW/Classified
- when the HC is going to be released, and at what cost (and when I can pre-order one, and where)

Then we can finally make an educated guess about what to bu.

I'm disappointed the Hydrocopper will not be a true single slot.

Could have lived without that DVI port.

Placed order on newegg for 1080FE
Realized that I will take at least $200 loss on transitioning to Hydro Copper
(Selling card on ebay, fees, etc)

Damn it! when is hydro copper coming?

Don't get why people buy the hydrocopper. Buy an ek block and the ref based pcb and you got the same card for less and better 2nd hand sale  or for when your loop is down as you still have the stock cooler for whatever reasons. Your paying the cost of the regular plus the block and some for a hydrocopper. Evga needs to throw in an air cooler to the hydrocopper bundle for it to make sense.

Agree with the first part about getting it cheaper, but the 2nd part about better resale, it's far from it.  Hydro Copper cards are very sought after, esp on Ebay, people fight over it more than any other.  Even after the announcement of the 1080, i sold a 980Ti Hydro locally for $700..there are a few 980Tis locally with EK blocks on still sitting there being used as coasters, lowering and lowering their prices every week.  A lot of people buy this card because they don't want to mess with putting the blocks on themselves, which can be intimidating and tedious sitting there cutting the thermal pads.  Also they retain full warranty whereas if you put a waterblock on a regular card you might get it voided.

Another reason to buy the HC is if you have a case like mine that mounts your GPU vertically, it's nice to see that LED logo :)

Re: EVGA Hydro Copper GTX 1080 2016/05/27 20:03:24 (permalink)
Asked about the availability on EK-blocks for the FTW-version (ordered two of those)... thought about getting classified instead if blocks wont get produced.

Then I thought about the HC and if prices for two HC's are equal to that of two FTW's + what two blocks would've cost (+terminal) then it might be a nice option.

I read up here that the HC will use a custom pcb, will that be same as the Classified one... will FTW also use the same pcb? How have it been in the past=

Lots of questions... guess none can be answered, but thoughts and speculations perhaps :)

Is the Hydrocopper PCB based on the FTW or the Classified Version? Or has it one of itself?

Probably one of its own. They usually release a regular Hydro Copper and a Classified Hydro Copper.

I can't imagine they'd produce another PCB just for Hydro und Hybrid. So far the Hybrid and Hydrocopper was based on the Reference Card, this time it sure looks like a Custom. But 3, maybe 4 (Kingpin) different Customs + Reference ACX + Reference SC + Founders Edition would be overkill for a Single Release.
