Hi all,

I'm really interested in getting the EVGA Hybrid cooler for my Palit 980 Ti Super Jetstream card but on the EVGA product page it says it is only for reference cards. I've seen people say on other forums that it fits anyway. On a different 980 Ti Liquid Kit cooling manufactorers site they say that their kit is also just for reference cards, but then lists my card as compatible.

So now I'm a bit confused, and I really want to go with the EVGA option. So, can anyone help me clarify this?

Cheers!

You need a reference board with the blower style cooler and shroud to use the fan to keep the VRAM and VRM chips cool. It is compatible in the sense that you can mount it to your GPU chip but you would need to find a way to attach a fan for cooling the other components. I have seen people hang a 120mm fan on the side of the video board using zip ties but it is an ugly solution to say the least.

These coolers do a great job keeping temps down. https://www.arctic.ac/us_en/accelero-xtreme-iv.html
Another member at OCN had excellent results with his GTX-980 keeping load temperatures under 45°. I've never used one but I have thought about it more than once. Both NewEgg and Amazon carry these. Just make certain to get the right model for your video board. My video boards have a modded VBIOS and run at 1580 MHz with 1.275 voltage applied and my temps with a custom loop using EK full cover waterblocks rarely go over 42° when gaming so one of these is certainly doing its job and should show a lot of improvement over the factory cooling setup from EVGA or Palit. I think this cooler would give similar if not better cooling because of the backplate that actively passes heat away from the rest of the chips and other components.

AH great! This might be the solution for me then. Pretty cheap too compared to liquid cooling (Amazon is listing them for half of the price on Arctic's site for some reason). Thanks for saving my day :)

I think this is the one you want: https://www.amazon.com/ARCTIC-Accelero-Xtreme-III-CrossFire/dp/B007YLUCKQ/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1467567278&sr=1-2&keywords=accelero
Many times you can get a product cheaper from Amazon than from the company itself even though it is shipped and sold by the company. I find many video boards and even specialty watercooling products for a better price at Amazon than going direct to the manufacturer. Click the Xtreme IV box. It doesn't carry over when I paste the link.

Both those coolers seem to be for reference cards. I'm gonna shoot them a mail and double check.

It would be best to check with ARCTIC to be sure. Your video board seems to be based on a reference circuit board from looking at its height as compared to a 'Custom' circuit board like the larger ones on a EVGA Classified or even my MSI GTX-980 Gaming 4G but looks can be deceiving especially if they moved some of the components around.
This review seems to call it a 'custom' circuit board but the dimensions are similar if not the same as a reference circuit board: https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Palit/GeForce_GTX_980_Ti_Super_JetStream/3.html

I'm considering to do this to my GPUs, but mine are in fact the non reference cards. Plus, I have no idea what direction to go in for this, and/or if I'm even capable because of it being a non reference card(s). What would you recommend?
