Hi,

I'm thinking to buy the EVGA Hybrid Kit for my GTX 980. Although I asking at those who already have the card, how is the loudness level at IDLE? I've a Fractal Design R4 (at 1m distance) and I need an absolute silent PC at Idle because I work with that. Will the pump or the fan of the Hybrid Kit let me reach this? Opinions are welcome. Cheers.

    Thanks for the reply.

But I read that you can't control the fan speed of the pump because of the Fan 2-Pin. Only the blower-fan is subject to rpm-modifications. Isn't?

Only the squirrel fan can be controlled, either through the default fan settings on the card, or by using PrecisionX. The pump and radiator fan will run at a constant speed.

Yep, and the pump should be loud/noisy:EVGA Forum: .... 980-Hybrid-being-loud-is-there-a-fix-m2347905.aspx

    How do you know that?

Even D5 and DCC produce sound, completely silent pump/fan/motor not exist.
People spend 500$ on custom cooling and still hear little pump noise.
CORSAIR made 20 models of AIO system and you can hear every pump if you put head inside case.
Case is not for head, hardware should stay inside not head. 1-2m from PC you will not hear nothing except Air hum.
I suggest replacing fans with two identical for push-pull, example CORSAIR SP120 LED, they are not loud and push enough Air. Or SP120 with 7V resistor. For me PC look somehow nice and powerful when you hear just little Air hum from fans, not motor sound.

Anyway you should research little and about Hybrid, you will see that no better solution than that.
With him you will have more space for OC on cards as 980Ti/TITAN X...
They work up to 85C full load and need very good cooling, plus EVGA models are overclocked 100-150MHz.
Graphics with power consumption 250W + OC can't work on 60C and less on different way except custom loop.

You're right about the loudness, but I read in the forum that the pump of the evga hybrid is noisy also when the case is closed ("buzz sound").

The corsair h90 should be silent with closed case (neweggs reviews). So I will try this solution with a NZXT G10 (that I will cut to hold the reference blower) and thermal pad to full the gap between the gpuchip and the h90 without to remove the heatsink as for the evga hybrid.

Actually, they're very quiet. If you have an issue with your cooler, you can exchange it easily.

If you choose, you can run the fan off the motherboard or a fan controller to lower the speed to make it quieter.

The problem shouldn't be the fan, but the pump.

    You will be satisfied.
Hybrid is not launched before 5 days, when some problem exist usually few owners show here immediately to ask advice.

On Newegg people didn't talk about pump noise, they are satisfied.
Their temps are lower for 20-25C depend of graphic model.
One guy even talk about 45C TITAN X under load.
Maybe he didn't play most intensive games but let's say 25C for sure difference and when you OC temps will increase much slower than with other coolers.
    I immediately recognize nice product.
For TITAN X example this cooler is necessary if custom loop is not option and if someone don't want to keep constant fan on 70-75% because noise.

Sound? What sound? Didn't notice anything with the 980 nor the 980 ti hybrids, that is, after the initial boot up with some sloshing sound that goes away with a little time.

The loudest AIO's I've used have all been Corsair.  Currently using a H220-X and it's practically inaudible unless I put my ear right next to it with my case open.
Can't wait to get a Hybrid cooler for my Titan X.  Even if there is a slight pump noise it'll be much quieter than the reference cooler whilst providing better cooling!

Both hybrid kits i had buzzed from the pump. rma'd the first one and the replacement had the same noise. exactly. Sold it to someone since they are so hard to get with him knowing the pump is loud.

Dunno, im certainly not the only one and ive seen videos with the same noise of others. I just have the stock coolers on my cards now and they really dont bother me that much though im gonna look at the corsair setups when they come out cause all my corsair AIO's have been silent

Now I am again at the start point: Many say that the pump has buzz noise and other that it is silent.

I'm Actually in process of buying one for my EVGA 980 TI which should be here in couple days, I was actually planing on not even starting the card till I get my Hybrid Kit but now this whole " Pump Buzzing " is alarming.

All the Hybrid units, whether they are pre-installed onto the card or if you install the kit on your own, are very quiet when in use.  It is possible that if the radiator is installed upside down, then you may want to turn it,  so that hoses are at the bottom, and also make sure the radiator is set higher than the graphics card/pump location.

You can also check out Jacob's post on how to properly install the cooler here:  http://forums.evga.com/FindPost/2353937

Re: EVGA Hybrid 980/980Ti/TITAN-X: Loudness level? 2015/06/26 01:20:54 (permalink)
So, I received yesterday the Hybrid card.

It is NOT silence at idle: it has pump noise (*buzz* sound) like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25515gnTmjM

Is there something to do? Or RMA?

    Thanks.

I think they're all like that.  Mine's what I'd consider loud at idle too.

I would have thought EVGA would have made it so we can control the pump through software and set a curve but disappointingly the pump has to be at 100% all the time.

    Thanks for your reply.

    That's mean for me: RMA.

I don't think RMA will help as I believe they're all like that.

I'd RMA mine if I thought I'd get a quieter Kit but I've got a feeling I'd go through the effort of removing the cooler, sending back to EVGA, waiting for the new cooler to arrive and installing it to find out it sounds exactly like the one I sent back.

I meant RMA for the return.

    Ah ok.

If you can get used to the noise, I'd recommend you do as the kit's cooling is phenomenal!

I use the pc for to work and that noise is disturbing :(

Edit: I think, the pump is now quite silent, but the fan isn't: Can I just try to deactivate the radiator-fan? Or is this dangerous?
