I recently purchased a GTX 650 TI that came bundled with a DVI-I to VGA converter.
My monitor is a Planar PX 2411MW. it has HDMI, VGA, and DVI-D inputs.
I was using the HDMI input from my old video card, which was an EVGA 240 that supported HDMI and VGA outputs.
The monitor received signals with the HDMI or VGA outputs on the old 240 card. I just tested both inputs again.
When I installed the 650 card and use the DVI-I to VGA converter that is bundled, the monitor registers NO SIGNAL on D-SUB.
When I borrow my son's DVI-D cable and plug in to the DVI-D input, the monitor gets signal on the DVI-D input from the 650's DVI-D output. I therefore know the card is working.
So the oft-asked question: why does the DVI-I to VGA converter not seem to provide a recognizable signal from the DVI-I port on the card to the VGA port on the monitor, yet I know all three inputs on the monitor work?
I will eventually go out and purchased a DVI-D cable, but I am curious why this does not work.
