Hi Forum,

so im a lucky owner of the above card. After inserting into my Sys, ( 3775k, 16G, Asus Maximus V Board)
i found that the card is running at around 1385 Mhz core frequency at boost under load.  I checked this with several different testing tools. GPU-Z, combustor, precisionX, etc.. The card is stock, no OC at this time.
I thought that the boost core clock should be 1317 Mhz.
Is this an error of the diag software i used, or what can be the cause of this difference?
Not that im unhappy with the performance this far, the card is running very quiet, the performance is phantastic at least for my games, no coil whining thus far ( ok im well over 50 years old, so may be its just me, walkman generation...cant hear higher frequencies. arghh..)

but i would like to know how the clocks / frequencys are set from factory, is it possible that those EVGA Cards have such a high variation in stock speeds? Anyone else found such behavior?
thanks and a.t.b. from germany
Ralf

All cards are different and some are able to clock higher out of the box.  It has to do with Nvidia's boost system.

Very Typical.  Its turbo Boost 2.0 taking the boost beyond that base / boost clocks.  My GTX 980 SC boosted in the same, roughly 50 mhz higher than base boost.

I have a 4 gb 960 now too and it boosts to 1417.5 until the thermal hits 60c then throttles down to 1404.4 Both well above the Base Boost Mhz.  Its a YMMV scenario.  Enjoy it.

Well that's why it's called "superclocked", 1380 is the same as mine gets. So it's normal for the SC versions.

Fine. Thanks for the replies. I now see it clearer.
In the old days, that was easier.  manufacturer clocks were fixed / a given.  Well, prior to overclocking.
Its nice to have a card which boosts up to 1392 Mhz under load out of the box. I played around with precisionx and with upping of the
power target to 105% and setting an offset of 100 Mhz Core clock i was able to run Valley Benchmark @ 1490 Mhz in 2560 fullscreen.Same with furmark, dont know if that is stable and healthy over longer time, tested it for 10 minutes.  Now back to stock, ~ 1390 Mhz is fine for my demands at this time,(planning to buy a second one for sli).

    Thanks again.

Same here, but believe it or not, the best test for overclocks is playing BF4 for some hours. I can run whatever benches without a problem, but BF is usually where I see problems. Yes, 1390/1400ish is very good and fine. By the way, furmark is relatively useless...it's really only good for testing how hot your GPU might get...despite w/ Furmark drivers usually have it on a "blacklist" and throttle automatically when you run it. Better: 3DMark11, Firestrike, Games etc...
