Hello,

I just recently bought an EVGA 600w PSU , and an EVGA GTX 970 from Newegg.ca.

As the title says, upon boot up, my computer holds at the HP startup screen, and then a series of beeps occur and nothing else happens.

I currently have a 3.40 gigahertz Intel Core i7-2600, and my motherboard is a PEGATRON CORPORATION 2AB5 1.01

Now one issue I came across is that my mobo does not have an 8 pin slot for the power supply hook up, but instead it only has a 4 pin slot. People have stated to me that I may lose some performance because of this, but otherwise it should work. Now I am not so sure.

The new 600w power supply works fine, my older AMD HD 6850 works fine, so the issue I believe is with the GTX 970 or maybe there is some compatibility issue with the GPU and my Mobo that I and others have overlooked. I have made sure the GPU was seated correctly in the mobo's GPU slot, and have hooked up the PCE-I cables to it properly (wouldn't have seen the HP startup screen if it wasn't I believe). I have restarted many times but the result remains the same, computer holds at HP startup screen and beeps, which I believe if I read right, is a warning sound from my mobo BIOS that says it cannot initialize the GPU.

I was wondering if you may have a solution to this or an understanding of what may be happening.

Just to refresh, I am currently running the 600w PSU and AMD HD 6850 GPU without any problems. And just to note, I am not a computer guy, this is actually the first time I have installed a GPU and PSU (not that hard to hook up as it seemed, minus this problem). If you need anymore info on my specs, i will do my best and research.

I know older HP machines (pegatron MoBo) have a compatibly issue with the GTX 960 and MoBo. You may be seeing this and to my knowledge I don't think the card will work in a x4 slot. Someone else may be able to explain more or there is a post not to long ago along the same line, I will try to find it.

Sorry for the problem but you may need to either buy a new MoBo or return the card.

This is almost an identical issue we helped with earlier,

    Thanks for the reply,

I am led to believe and suspect that the GPU and motherboard are not compatible.
