I just grabbed 1 of these from newegg at a final cost of 174.99 after 20$MIR so it sounded like a good deal...(and gonna grab another this Wed 6/29 to run in sli on my good ole asus rampage iii extreme with i7-970 hex core cpu. i had to replace 1 of the gtx660 cards that crashed so i figured  this would be the best bang for the buck..
PS... since i am out of work on medical disability my problem is money also....i have 2 full coverage water blocks for my gtx660SC cards and want to water cool the new 960's and cant find anything waterblock related that will work other than gpu only (probably)
any help on finding/getting 2 full coverage blocks for these???ANY help/suggestions will be appreciated..(also another reason for this is that with my rampage iii board with my gtx660 cards with oem cooling installed the chipset full coverage block for it at the bottom of the 2nd SLI slot the water fittings definitely interfere with the mounting of the 2nd vid card...trying to avoid this also. dont wanna really upgrade and change out MB/cpu since i have a coolit systems boreas chiller cooling my cpu/both gpu's full coverage and m/b full coverage blocks and my 24gig dominator ram also.. temps run at full load converting 6 movies at a time run around 49C full load...wanna keep all my other hardware the same...(if it aint broke..LOL)

Did you consider a 1070? Would have been cheaper and faster then those 2 cards in SLI. Plus you would have had 8GB ram. Nvidia has set that as the new standard going forward. The games are just going to get more demanding. Just right to be wrong. I would have sold you my 4GB FTW version if you was interested. I just replaced it with a 1080.

That, or he could see if the 1060s will launch within 90 days. If not, go for the 1070. It will definitely be a huge huge step-up, and you won't need to go SLI.

Yes, definitely consider a 1070 plus the step-up. You already basically have a good portion of the 1070 paid off, as you already paid $175 for the 960.

He can start a step up for that 1060 to a 1070 as well, and just pay the difference + shipping.

if you still have the ftw version how much would you want???since we found out the wife has to do chemo every 2 wks i have to take that into consideration and based on my dr reports when i am able to return to work i will have to change careers...just turned 55 Fri and now have to changeup this late in the game...bummer
its a LOT easier to get 1 card now and another in a week so the misses wont see a 425.00 hit for 1 video card although i agree that would be my best bang for the buck since i gotta upgrade anyhow...thx for all your advice..its a lot to think about
