Re: EVGA GeForce GTX 1080/1070 Stock Thread 2016/08/06 19:03:16 (permalink)
The BIOS issue, as far as I can tell, is that the installer doesn't recognize that it's an EVGA GTX 1060.  This appears to be due to problems reading the SubVendor ID from cards installed on AMD chipset motherboards.  This same issue keeps the software that controls overclocking (EVGA Precision X OC) from recognizing that it's an EVGA card and so the program disables numerous functions that are supposedly only available to EVGA cards (Automatic overclocking, curve-based voltage control, BIOS installation, etc.)

I'm also having all sorts of latency-issues too, and many people are complaining it's the NVidia 10-series cards, but I'm still investigating the source of this.

The lack of availability of the GTX 1080 SC,GTX 1080 FTW and Classified is so ridiculous. We all like to know when these cards will be available for mass production is there any set date?

Thanks cyber_nicco; I have an Intel board myself but was curious if there were other problems as well to watch for.

And yes silentoption, it seems that other than the 1070, everything else is hard to find...

There's a hot fix driver 368.95 to fix the latency issue you are seeing.

Get weird issue with my Gtx 1080. Happened just once, but i dont know why.
I left idle my pc for 5 days. When i back i run some application and core clock stuck on 1275mhz instead of 1950mhz like always. Memory clock was not affected. Gpuz reports PWR limit at 32%. Reboot pc fixes.

Any experience this issue? Card is OC by factory only.

I am sure i have good psu. Corsair 750 W

All sleep options are turned OFF. All power management options in Windows set to Balanced ( default ). In on nvidia is adaptive ( default ).

There are some peoples experiencing the same issue on geforce forum.

Screen:

Do something or ignore this if i happened once? Drivers 368.69

I agree it is ridiculous. What is the point of Micro Center having exclusive to be the only vender to sell the 1080 Classified?? I mean unless you live in the same city or state that has a Micro Center your SOL because they are only available for in store pick up. I am and have been a strong supporter of EVGA products but, sorry EVGA I don't see the point...

We are loyal and dedicated customers and for that we get ignored and receive 0 transparency into when 1080s (especially classified) will have sufficient stock. I am very unhappy with the current state of information from evga.

I am at a point that I might get the Gigabyte 1080 G1 since that is one of the few cards that are available at this time. Card have an awesome review from Jayztwocents plus it's 8 plus 2 phase power but has 8 pin connector instead. When I have the funds to buy the card I'll probably buy either the GTX 1080 FTW or Classified if they are available if G1 is probably my future card. It's August and the 1080 FTW and Classy are still not available anywhere due the fact they are sold out in a few minutes after being available.

I'm really close to buying that Gigabyte G1, always used EVGA for video cards so I'm not sure about Gigabyte quality and customer service.

I didn't realize only MicroCenter are selling the Classified, AND only over-the-counter.. seriously EVGA what the fudge? Do you realize we don't all live near a MicroCenter, and even if some of us do, it can be a major mission to get there, particularly if some are not fully mobile. The Classified is the generally the premium, so shafting all your loyal customers of years by refusing to sell to anyone but MicroCenter is fudging rude. They can't be giving you that much of a deal.. Heck, if MicroCenter would ship them that wouldn't be so bad, but they will do in-store only! What a sell-out. It's already priced up for the additional power phases... so much for the Classified Crew. Where's the love? *sigh* Do you realize how many impulse buyers you lose by forcing over-the-counter MicroCenter sales only? Bad move  ...and I'm one of them. That puts the final nail in the coffin for me - I'll wait for a Ti edition or skip this series entirely.

Is there a source to that claim that Microcenter is the only retail store that will sell the Classified? I don't see any EVGA tech denying this, either. So, it could be very true.

Any news about UK stock for the 1060 SC? Amazon, Scan etc say awaiting stock. At least I can order it from Amazon and they'll ship when they get it.

I too would like to know this. I ordered a 1060 SC from Amazon UK, there was no delivery estimate and instead it listed them as 'temporarily' out of stock - but I've never seen the product page say anything other than that. Naturally, I've been obsessively refreshing the page at least 284 times a day.

This week according to CS:
"We're very sorry for the stock delays, and are getting the cards out as quickly as we can. Please be patient, as more stock will be arriving in our web store and at our resellers in the coming week.
Please contact us with any further questions. Regards,  EVGA"

Other than this thread, go to the EVGA 1080 product page and the 1080 Classy (way down the bottom) is the only one that does not have auto-notify, it just has a price, no option to buy it. If you then click on the link for the 1080 Classy, under the subtitle "Where to Buy".. there is only one place listed: Micro Center. The other cards (example Founders Edition) list a bunch of different places - Best Buy, Frys, Memory Express, Micro Center, NCIX, Newegg..  and on the EVGA site itself once there is stock available. If you go to Micro Center, it states in-shop purchase only, no mail order.

This isn't the first time EVGA has done this - it may have been one of the 980 models or something completely different, but I do recall a year or two ago I wanted to buy some EVGA product and it was Micro Center over-the-counter only, no other option. As a result, EVGA lost my sale and I got some other brand (or didn't buy at all, I don't recall now which it was). I DO know I was just one of many who were frustrated by this practice and ended up buying from the competition as a result, or didn't buy at all.

Doing this with THE top of the line 1080 is a low blow to loyal customers. Brand loyalty is hugely important in such a competitive sector, and taking THE top tier card and making it available only to some customers just stinks.

Let me say this. While I was able to snag a Classified from my local Microcenter stock of the card in general especially as an exclusive is extremely limited. I know the East Coast microcenter aren't getting more than say 4 or 5 cards a week or so a representative was telling me. Forgetting about just the classified for the moment what about the FTW model which isn't an exclusive and it's virtual non existence. I would also think Evga would make stock available for their store which I guess isn't priority either. I have not received a product in stock notification in like 2 weeks and I purposely selected like every card for auto notify.

I don't know if it's a gpu issue (i.e. production issue or an engineering issue), binning issues, etc. It seems that asus, zotac and msi cards are readily available.

In the past it seems often stock becomes available at resellers before it does here at the EVGA website (or maybe any stock here just gets taken so fast that most of us aren't aware it was there in the first place), but you're right, this happens with EVERY new series.. no idea why EVGA production planners still don't have it together to assess demand more accurately time after time.

It is definitely a shame. I am a huge EVGA fan but am contemplating a switch over to MSI or Gigabyte. I can't bring myself to deal with the awful asus support no matter how great their product might be.

I have said it before and will say it again. EPIC FAIL of a product launch yet again by EVGA. August and on the website nothing to buy, the promised accessories
(HBSLI bridges and power adapters) not in stock or available. Months after launch and people have to play the lottery to get a card. Was waiting for a 1080 classy but at this point screw it I'm switching manufactures not cause I can't get one but because EVGA dosen't care one bit about their long time loyal customers and probly never will as long as the money flows..

Dang, gave up and ordered a 1070 yesterday, oh well I'll be happy with a 1070 and it was $430 so I saved some money.
