I've had my 1070 SC for a few weeks now and I recently upgraded to the 86.04.50.00.72 bios as instructed in the thermalmod section. While the GPU temperatures have generally not been a problem, I found that with the new fan curve the fans are making an audible noise when they kick in at around 50 degrees celsius. Using PrecisionX I narrowed down the affected RPM range to roughly 680-730 RPM (19-20% fan PWM). At 760 RPM this noise is gone.

Now, generally speaking this wouldn't be an issue, but since my GPU rarely seems to get above 50 celsius during gaming, my fans just hover at the 19-20% PWM range, thus the noise is almost constant while not on idle. Has any of you experienced a similar issue? Has it gone away with time? Any chance it'll fix itself with the thermalpad mod? Is this covered by the warranty? I'd rather not RMA this one, as otherwise I've been very pleased with the card, no coilwhine whatsoever.

EDIT: youtube. com/watch?v=MPwiRvLX9yw in youtube managed to catch the noise (at 25 seconds into the video, till 27-ish). Except for me it's constant at the mentioned RPMs, just on a little lower tone.

Be careful as them fans will cut your Fingers. I am not really hearing any noise at low fan level.
Do you still hear the Noise when you have your Side Cover installed on the Computer Case?
You could set a Fan Profile to run at 30% and see if the noise stops.

    Thank you for the welcome!

I should point out this is not my video, but the sound you can hear from 00:25 to 00:27 (the pulsing high-pitch noise) is the one I get constantly at the RPM mentioned above. In my case, the sound is quite loud, and can be easily heard through my Fractal Design Define R3 case (when closed), even through my noise-suppressing headphones.

My card maxes annoying noises at 32-33% which is something like 1100-1200 RPMish. Probably the best idea is to make custom fan curve that basically skips the range that sounds annoying.

Here's a quick video I shot with my Nexus 5 (not the best tool for audio-recording), I used PrecisionX to adjust the fanspeed from 18% to 21%, then to 19%. You may need to turn up the volume, but the noise should be quite distinguishable. The phone is on my table, roughly 50cm away from my mouse and roughly the same distance from the GPU (closed case) with a table in-between.

I'd agree that a custom curve would be the best solution since you don't want to rma.
