Hey all, So I just got my GTX1070 FTW today. Replaced my old Strix and hooked up the power. Uninstalled Strix software and updated the Geforce drivers to the latest and installed Precision XOC. Just noticed the card looked like it was getting hot - so went into Precision X to have a look at the details and realised the fans are on 0% at all times. Card is getting up to 90C in game without fans coming on. The fans were set on auto, with the default fan curve. Have also tried setting to manual and fans still not coming on. Anyone know whats up with this? EVGA Z77 FTW Motherboard i7 3770K w 32GB Ram Windows 10 Professional Nvidia Driver 368.81

Just to add - the fans do spin up fine when the PC is started - but they switch off again once it hits Windows and remain off.

Ah so I set it to manual again, then back to auto and now they work.
Must be some weirdness with Precision Xoc.

I have this same problem... ooh why would EVGA create a gfx card that doesn't have the fans always spinning even at a minimal 42% like my GTX 750 Ti did... I had to get the over clocking app to get the fan speeds up

agree with you melchior82 , don't understand why nvidia or any card
company doesn't make fans spin all the time........
that's why I try to always buy ftw/ftw2/ftw3 cards with dual bios , and
put bios switch on the secondary bios, which keeps the fans running
all the time. That way I don't need to run 'software' to keep fans on..

ooh JOY... I take it that means I will have to redo the manual FAN speed settings, on system restart? my old GTX 750 Ti SC didn't have any of these issues I have been having with this new card...

no, if you uninstall the overclocking software, the card will default
back to what is on the card bios, which probably is fans slowly spin
up once the temp reaches 55-60 degrees Celsius,
so, fans off until card reaches those temps......... then slowly cools
card down... but with dual card bios, primary bios is like how
your card is, and secondary bios the fans stay on all the time
like in the old days,(without extra software) which is how I like it
What gpu you have melchior82 ? what make ,model..
just curious...

Some people like their PC to be quiet as possible & the GPU fans not spinning till around 60C is the end result
Precision XOC or MSI Afterburner can be run to set a custom fan curve; including a minimum above 0

my rig is pretty quiet... but even so what noise it does makes I don't even notice it... so it doesn't bother me...

I'm with you at 30% the GPU fans are silent enough & around 70% they become noticeable but not objectionable
