Hi, I just bought this card and I noticed this noise: https://youtu.be/XohOncuElz8The higher the fan speed, the stronger the noise Is that coil whine? Can I RMA the card? It is really loud :(. Cheers

thanks, I noticed it ;). I will do it later. Anyhow it is a whistle that is generated only by the fan speed (not by the gpu load). Could it be coil whine?

How do you mean that? How can I check this? Before that I had no problems with. My PSU is Corsair AX760i.

That does not sound like coil whine, but rather the fans turned way up.
What did you do to get the card to make that noise ? Also are you using any software to control the fans ? like MSI Afterburner or EVGA Precision X.

Yah just sounds like the fans running at 100% speed... did you set a custom fan profile to make them run at full speed?

It whistles, you notice it if you use headphones and specially at the end of the video.
Yes: I put the spin up with PrecisionX.

Fans make noise when they spin and air makes noise when it rushes past objects. Sounds normal to me.

Apologies for hijacking this thread, but I'm certain that my EVGA GTX 970 FTW+ has got coil whine. Despite all of my efforts I couldn't cure the card of its coil whine, so I hoping that EVGA will replace thorugh RMA. I tried running heaven benchmark and other benchmarks for a sustained period, two different psu's I've tried - nothing worked. Even if they grant a RMA, there is still the pain of having to fork out for shipping costs to them (I do have to cover that don't I?) Here's a link to the first of some video samples on my youtube channel comparing idle with load scenarios if you check out my page you will see the entire list The issue with this is that I could only film with an ipad 2 so the quality is somewhat poor and youtube's volume is lower than my actual experience. I've also included download links to the raw files and if you play them in VLC media player with at least 150% volume in the player and your headphones at max, gives a more accrate reading of what I can hear.

Every person's ears, measuring equipment, computer case arrangement, and room acoustic properties are different. It would be impossible to answer your question given the information available to us.

Once again, it is impossible for us to predict since we don't know how loud your card actually is in the first place. Since your recording equipment is calibrated in comparison to nothing, how can we know how loud your card is? Theoretically, every card has an infinitesimally small difference in audio characteristics. But would another be quieter? Who knows. It is equally possible that you currently have the quietest card on earth and that every other card would be almost immeasurably louder.

I changed the card and this is good: no fan-noise anymore (they are very, very quite and just at 60/70%..).

So is coil whine in Witcher 3 menu normal? I'm assuming it being at 3000 fps is the cause.
