michael-evga Anybody know the difference between the primary and the secondary "performance" BIOS that comes from the factory on the FTW card? I see the second one has more aggressive fan speed curve, anything else different?
Should just be the fan curve and ability to flash the secondary bios without worry of completely killing the card

Ok, I was hoping it had a higher power limit and let the card work harder before throttling it. Thnx for taking the time to answer my questions, I appreciate the help. Now for another one :) PrecX vs Afterburner. Does PrecisionX have special features that would allow the FTW card to go for a higher overclock, any secret EVGA handshake in there? I took a quick look and didn't see anything extra but maybe I missed something.

No secrets, no magic, and not much difference. Both programs can work, but afterburner has been around much longer and has been worked on by the same developer. That developer (unwinder) also use to make precision x in the past, but no longer does.
The precision x16 does have hiccups, burps, and other noteable things that happen. Some people absolutely do not like it. I have very few issues with it lately. There is only one GPU it has a "secret handshake" with, and that is the K|ngp|n card, which uses RGB lighting, so that handshake gives control of the lights.

I was real used to the old version of precx on my old pc, i was using a version before the fork from rivatuner. I tried the new precx 16 on my new pc, but switched over to afterburner pretty quick. Just more familiar to me and less 'isms. In a way, i'm glad there's no compelling reason for me to use precx16 because i like the interface and compat and less resource usage of afterburner more. Sorry to say that on the evga forum, but its true. I wish the split with rivatuner had never happened. (ducks?)

Woohooo. I took a closer took at the secondary BIOS and there is another difference besides the fan speed. It also permits a higher power target to be set, the power target slider in afterburner or precx goes up to 120%. That's just what i was looking for! Also, the fans never spin down to 0 in the secondary BIOS, the floor is 17%. I wasn't looking for that part, but f it bugs me enough, I can use MBT to fix it. Everything else in all tabs besides the fan and the change outlined in red looks the same.

Pretty much the same question as juanete. How different is the FTW pcb from reference? Will HG10 N980 fit?

I have the EVGA G2 850W PSU There are no 2x 8 pin cables provided, will it be OK to connect 2 separate single 8 pin cables to this GPU, and would I need to select any particular ports at the PSU end to do this ?

I have two single 8 pin cables to my GPU. I think as long as the ports on the PSU match the cable, you should be good to go. My PSU labels everything for me so I haven't had to do that. I guess double check the manual to be sure.

That's fine. As a single rail design, it doesn't matter which port you use. Which ever VGA ports makes it easiest for routing your cables.

I really hope that's true. I have a 980ti FTW, and I'd love to add it to the Swiftech H220x with an expanded loop/radiator.

I switched from a 980 ftw (2xRMA) to a 980 Ti ftw and since have no issues whatsoever. In 1080p the FAN noise is much lower compared to the 980. Overall great experience so far.

Only the GPU is cooled activ the voltage transformer and the memory modules are cooled passive. Yes you have to replace the backplate but there is a new one deliverd with the cooler I will post some photos tomorow
