Sajin Fastest EVGA GTX 980 Ti Next To K|NGP|N? Not really... that would be the classy.
It has the same clocks of the Classy, so actually it's tied for the fastest next to the K|NGP|N.
LOL. I was looking at that too.

Greetings all, I've been looking to upgrade, and it appears the 980 Ti FTW is the choice for me. I gather this just came out within the last day or so. I've never considered such a high-end card before, is it going to months to maybe a year or more before I see this card decrease in price or perhaps have some sort of rebate? Thanks.

They'll have other cards out before they have a rebate or sale on those cards. The classified was highly sought after and once people buy up the FTW they'll be sought after because they have the exact same specs. If you're wanting to upgrade I would do it now before you have issues finding it.

You could most likely cancel your Amazon order and still buy from Newegg since they aren't in stock at Amazon yet.

Some smaller cases cannot physically hold a 980 Ti Classified due to the extra width.

Could you explain how the classified is superior on air? It's wider and has more heat generating phases with the exact same clocks. If heat is a factor, the ftw may run a few degrees cooler.. We will see, of course. But the ftw is meant for Air users where the classified only has the extra phases for sub zero overclocking. It doesn't change much at all air or water overclocking on this generation. They also had it at $20 cheaper after an instant rebate. Now, if you are going to kill that, why not spend $70 more and GUARANTEE a cooler running card with the hybrid? The hybrid will inevitably perform better than most classified or ftw cards, and it runs cooler at stock.

I think his logic is "bigger fans." Having a 780 Ti Classified, and being a chickenliver and not really overclocking it (350D case... 780 Ti Classified... do the math), a 980 Ti FTW would be PERFECT for someone who wants a healthy OC out of the box, and has little to no actual desire to OC further. The extra phases really only come into play when you want to OC / OV the card to the moon and you need the phases to ensure a cleaner power delivery under chilled / frozen conditions. The way I see it is this: FTW: perfect for the air cooled person who wants a nice 19% OC on the core, set it, forget it. (Or has a very small rig and cannot fit anything taller than a PCI-E slot.) This is the ideal high-performance gamer card. Classy: Good for liquid cooling, sometimes chillers. Good for gaming also. Can live in a larger mATX case (ie: Obsidian 350D or a caselabs), can also game, but due to maxwell's efficiency, unless you have it in a liquid loop or chilled a bit, you won't go much further than an FTW card. KPE: DICE, LN2, or for that crazy person who figures out a way to get liquid helium to work. VERY easy to get into dangerous power territory (I believe that they can handle something like 1200w of power when OCing.). For me, the logical choice would be an FTW (set it, forget it). but my heart is telling me to go for my very first KPE.

The same documented issues in various posts with the 980FTW. I had to return 4 of them before I gave up and got a refund. It dealt with instability with the card which they may have fixed by now with previous revisions. I'm also aware its just branding (to an extent)..but not going to bother with it anymore. reference or SC has been perfectly fine with me.

plenty of people had the issue with the 980 FTW. It's my own personal stance so it really doesn't matter if you understand it or not. I had nothing but issues with my 980 FTW branded card so I'm just opting to forgo the FTW line for the time being.

The 980 Ti FTW and 980 FTW are completely different cards. Yes there was an issue with 980 FTWs, but that doesn't mean there is going to be an issue with the 980 Ti FTWs anymore than it would for the Classified, Kingpin, or any other non reference card. If you don't trust EVGA with non reference cards, then that's fine I suppose. However, the 980 FTW issues don't have anything to do with this card at all.

FFS, I'm well aware the cards aren't the same. I'm merely stating I don't trust the FTW line of cards after the 980 issues I had. I don't care what anyone else does. I was merely voicing MY stance on purchasing another FTW card of any series.

thebski The 980 Ti FTW and 980 FTW are completely different cards.
And he was merely voicing HIS stance on purchading custom cards of any series.
