My EVGA GTX 980 Hydro Copper block finally arrived and I haven't seen anyone
else post pictures of it so I figured I would.

Its pretty nice looking.
I wanted a full cover block even though the rest is just an acrylic piece but I
also wanted the lighted EVGA logo and light up block.

Pics are of the un
boxing. Ill have it on the card tonight with some info on how it cools my 980 SC
ACX2.0.

Yep, gotta hand it to EVGA going with EK instead of Swiftech, these blocks are a thing of beauty.
I just don't get it though, they make a Hydro Copper Block for reference 980's but no block for
their flagship 980 Classified .... just doesn't make sense to me.

I'd love to get one myself, if the payment system EVGA uses would stop rejecting BOTH cards from different banks due to a billing address mismatch even though addresses are identical across the board and have no issues anywhere else.

Edit: Scratch that. On a hunch I reversed my street and apartments lines like ive had to do for Playstation to get it to work and it goes though, except due to the delay all of a sudden the block has gone out of stock.

Are these the same as the flagship blocks for the 980, with the jet style block or is the old pass through?

It's pretty either way. More pictures please :-)

Very nice. I really like the EVGA on the water block. Let us know how it performs.

well it is installed and running in the system unfortunately the LEDS don't light up. Ive had the block off the card 2 times to re seat the led connector but no luck. From what I read  from http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Graphics-Cards/EVGA-Hydro-Copper-GTX-980-Water-Block-Early-Performance-Testing they didn't have working LEDs on their test unit. Not sure what gives but ill give EVGA a call tomorrow.

Performance wise, according to precision x16 my card is idling at 24-25 degrees celsius which is down from my ACX 2.0 at 44 degrees. Ill check it here in game shortly and see what the it ramps up to.

Cooling wise for the GPU only loop I have a Alpha cool D5 with high flow top, into an alpha cool ut60 480 rad in push pull format.

just played 3 different games, Quake live, Team Fortress 2, and AC:Black Flag and I never saw the temp get above 28 degrees. pretty impressive so far. Ill have to get pushing it quite a bit more in a more GPU heavy game. Monitor is a ROG swift running 2560x1440 144Hz

The hydro Copper cards is listed with higher clock speed,

    1291 MHz Base Clock
    1393 MHz Boost Clock

Any chance we can get an official bios for our reference cards + waterblock?

These cards are tested at the overclocks to verify they work before they are absolutely sent out. EVGA is not going to give you an updated bios for the hydrocopper clocks, because they haven't tested your card at those clocks to verify that it works.

You may be able to get a modified bios, but it could brick your card, so it would 100% be at your own risk.

Is there a chance you could take another picture of it in your case, with your regular case lights OFF so we can tell just how bright/where the LEDs are on the hydrocopper?

Thank you for your call and please do not hesitate to let me know if you should need any additional support after updating the connector on the block as it was discussed earlier. chrisb@evga.com

It is the standard pass through style  no jet block on the card like their newer cpu blocks.

see below, ive included a few with out the case lights on for you. Ill be honest im kinda disappointed with how "hot" spotted the logo led is on the front but thats to be expected since the LED is facing the logo. Might have to open it up and put a piece of paper in there or something to disperse it a bit.

Thanks Chris, Lights are on and working as they should.

EVGA was kind enough to call me direct after seeing I placed an order for the card informing me that it is possible the LEDs will not light up and if this is correct, just swap the LED connectors wires. Which in my case I had to do. Kinda sucks to have to do it and EVGA offered to RMA the block for me to get me a new one but honestly if you cant de pin a connector I dunno if you should do a custom water cooling loop IMO..

More pictures as requested, This time with the LED's ON.

Great looking block. EK makes EVGA's blocks now, or am I reading that wrong?

What a blessing that would be if true. The last HC blocks I bought were Swiftech and were horrid quality. Swore I'd never own another HC block as long as Swiftech made them.

thebski, you are correct it is EK now.

Im with you, Swiftech was the reason I never purchased a HC block before.

    Hi Packie,

I have a quick question. I just purchased the GTX980 Hyrocopper and I see yours has blue light emitting from the block. Are you able to change the color of the light?

    Thank you!
