Smokey the Bear Cool, I won't be buying one now and after all this time you offer a single pitiful option. In fact I regret ever buying this card period, this really screwed up my plans. Next round it's clear that ASUS is the brand to go to, and A good Kyro block will suffice for any reference block. Thanks EK. I wish I never had this damn card, stuck on air for three months. Who's to really to blame, EK or EVGA? EK released a block for literally every other custom solution before this one, and 'jokingly' called EVGA a shady company on Facebook. I think I'll happily abandon both - that isn't very professional and obviously has a ton of truth behind it. I'm sure EK and EVGA are confident in their sales regardless of a boatload of customers jumping ship this term. I guess while EK is horrible in this scenario, EVGA is really the one getting abandoned. Both companies seems to be confident that they have endless supplies of customers, so let's see where their fumbles land them in a decade. Heads up; there's a new player in town called Diamond Cooling - they aren't on the scale of EK and don't plan to compete but they offer service EK couldn't dream of offering. It's very small and they don't have many cards/blocks, but the owner is fantastic. If you send him a card, he can make a block for you. I plan to ask him to make me one for the 980ti or whatever I end up with after I sell this garbage 980 at a loss.
You ever make a block?
No, but I make deadlines. I aired out my frustration though, so, I'm good.

Ek went through major changes, relocating and revamping a lot of things. That probably caused some major delays.

Luc did post that they pushed off other projects to accommodate the K|ngp|n cards as well :-) you all will hopefully get your wish soon.

I just ordered my backplates, next is either the cards themselves or the water blocks. Waiting on pack pay to come through for my disability but the VA likes to take their time. So if the water blocks are out by the time that happens I will more then likely order those before they sell out, then get the blocks and start my X99 build.

So, do we know if these are for sure going to be compatible with the 980 classified backplate? Or will an EK one need to be purchased as well?

I personally have heard no news about an EVGA branded water block. But I know EK is working on one.

What I'm asking is if these, upcoming EK 980 classy water blocks, are compatible with EVGA's 980 classy backplate or will an EK backplate be required. I know reference backplates are compatible with the EK FC980, but am wondering if that will remain the same here.

They better be! They will have one pissed builder right here if they aren't! I just ordered 3 classy back plates yesterday for over $60! Besides, EK's back plates are ugly and boring.

I'm with yah. The EVGA backplate looks awesome, and I'd like to not have thrown out $20 as well! :) I'm sure we're good, but a confirmation before they are released would be sweet.
