Ok here is the thing man, if you assembled your pc, and it works just fine with your gt440, but you dont get output to display when using 780 in the same pcie slot, chances are you got defective 780, it happens sometimes, you may have to RMA it. What brand is your 780? and where did you buy it?
Also, with 780 does the screen go black when you start to boot into windows, but you can get into bios, or is it always black and the only way you can get into bios is by using gt440?

The bios update was just a shot in a dark, since it worked for me, but we have totally different hardware.

I just found a post on different forum of someone having the same issue you are having with the same board and 780, he was able to fix it by flashing bios. I recommend that you go on you tube and watch some tutorials on how to update bios, try to find your board, if not any video with modern UEFI bios update will do, but basically you have  to study a little to understand whats going on, then when you feel comfortable, download newest bios from MSI for your board and do usb update, this should be done out of windows.

I just looked through MSI bios update instructions, there pretty straight forward, after you install live update 5, do a scan, but don't download everything it shows, select just the bios update and download that, once you have bios update file downloaded run it and select in DOS usb mode, select you usb drive in dropdown box, and hit ok and program will create bios update usb (make sure your usb is formated to FAT32 before you do this). Then restart in bios select your usb as primary boot device and boot from usb and follow on screen instructions.

I sent back my card as DOA. In the meantime, I should probably do a lot of that research you suggested me. Can you link to the forum post?

Here is the link http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1866881/newly-installed-asus-geforce-gtx-780-msi-970a-g46-computer-stuck-black-screen-bottom-corner.html

But since there are others that have the same issue as you its totally possible that bios update is the real issue, I would focus on updating your bios while your 780 gets replaced, watch some videos and follow msi instructions.

vdgamer is right.
You need to have the updated BIOS to support the newer card.
There was probably nothing wrong with that card. Shame you sent it back before updating the BIOS.

I may be wrong, but as far as I know(and how I have always done it) a MOBO BIOS update is typically done outside of windows. I believe you installed your motherboards chipset etc... drivers.

BTW props to vdgamer for being extremely helpful.

I seriously love this guy for staying with me. But anyway, using Live Update 5, the bios updated inside windows, which I' guessing was a big nono? I don't know how to revert that.

You do not need to revert anything, Im guessing its like lampinridcm5 said you probably installed some mobo drives, which is no big deal you can always uninstall them through control panel, but your bios probably wasn't updated, this is why I kept telling you to boot into bios and check.

Anyway just follow my second post on this page, MSI bios update instructions are pretty clear, and the reason why it was taking forever to download stuff through "live update 5" was because you were downloading all the crap it found missing after scan, but if you manually select just bios it shouldn't take long.

Exactly.
First thing you have to do is check BIOS revision.
Update if it needs it.
Very easy.

You cannot just guess that it was updated with that live update. You must check for yourself.
Boot into the BIOS and it should be pretty easy to find. I cannot remember where it is on my MSI UEFI BIOS.
I remember when you first booted up a PC the BIOS revision would be right there during POST.
Guess those days are gone.
