Well I could not stand it. I removed the stupid "ACX" cooler and glued a dead silent 120mm (that is all I had) to the heatsink and mutilated the fan cable so I can run power to this fan from the silly proprietary fan header on the PCB. At 42% with the new fan, can't hear it one bit and as I speak it is idling at 24c. At full load I top out at 61c with 100% speed, which is still near silent, definitely quieter than my 8800 GTS and can't even be compared to stock at 42%.

Am I happy doing this? Hell no. Am I going to get a headache from fan noise? Hell no. Is EVGA going to fix this issue? Perhaps.

I also couldn't stand it, even after I said I would wait for a fix. It's back in the mail to NewEgg, and I ordered the Super Clocked version instead. I don't think the ACX version is worth it, seeing as the clock speeds are about the same, but the noise is stupid loud.

I have also received one this morning, and I have to say that the noise this card is making is just ridiculous, I have no idea what they were thinking by putting that monstrosity on this card.
I mean in a way it is my fault because I thought by default that, considering power efficiency is the main selling point of this card, they'll be smart enough to put cooling inline with that but this is just insane. I'll wait till Monday and will either go with what cnelson3225 did, or I'll just send it back and get the MSI one, because it seems that at least they did their homework. The first thing I did was flash the new bios, and the result is this? Seriously I don't want to know what the buyers who bought it before that thought.
Anyways bottom line, I would advise any potential buyers who still have functional hearing to stay as far away from this card as possible.

Thank you all guys for pushing this thread. I'm too owner of a EVGA 750 ti FTW ACX and i must say, despite the nice building quality of your ACX Cooler, the noise of the cooling unit on the 750 ti ftw is just insanely loud. I'm stuck at 42 % fixed Fan speed, even with your update the Fans are to damn loud. Srsly, i don't need the card at 25 to 29 degrees on Idle. I'm proud owner of many of your EVGA Graphics cards and they all do very well, but on this one i have to say i'm dissapointed. Is there really no other way to silence the cooler via software ?

Greetings from Germany =D

I think I am going to contact Newegg about returning my 750Ti right now. It hasn't arrived yet, and I am not even considering opening it with all the noise complaints. I rarely worry about noise, but as I will be watercooling, and would rather keep the noise down a little this time.

Sorry EVGA. This one is not For The Win... :-(

As soon as the card arrived,  it is headed back to Newegg.   The RMA is already set.   Looks like I will not be an early adopter again...  Way too many headaches over the 700 series line :-(.

I also think the card runs loud, the update helps a bit. I was thinking of returning it but for the money its a great card. I will keep it, maybe evga will find a solution for this issue.

I had patience through the Ti Classified Bios fiasco, and they made good on it. Maybe next round they will impress me. I will not adopt extremely early again though.

For now, I am going to aim for a Gigabyte 750Ti for now.

Use GPU-Z to check if the Bios-Update succeeded.
If it shows "82.07.25.00.53" you're done.
But I agree with the others. It's still too loud and I'm about to return the card
and get the SC instead or even an MSI.

I was expecting some noise, but not nearly as much as what it turned out to be. I wanted to use this card as a new low-powered PhysX card in addition to my Titans, and it's louder than both!

On top of that, after doing the vBIOS update on this GPU, I'm having difficulty getting the system to boot properly with CSM disabled and SecureBoot enabled.

I'm not sure if the BIOS update is working as it should, I uninstalled the Nvidia drivers and restarted, applied the update and restarted. With the Microsoft display driver it's pretty quiet, but as soon as I install the Nvidia drivers the fan noise doubles. It's apparently not at the lowest setting when Nvidia drivers are installed. I checked in Precision X as well (only works when Nvidia drivers are installed) and the fan speed is reported as 42%.

Ive the 750 Ti ACX FTW myself and yeah, its not that quiet the Cooler try to imagine... but whats good at first is that the Fans dont make any buzzing Sounds or somethin else.

The Sounds just came from the Airflow the Fans provide - u will notice some difference if u just put the Plastic-Cover off the Cooler.

I dont know what ill do exactly now... i just ordered an GTX 760 V2 cause of the DHE Design - so i normally dont need to modify the Cooler anymore. But... hm... maybe i find a good solution for other Users here.

One more thing: It seems that the two Fans are switched "in Line" after each other, that mean if u stop one Fan the other will Spin as twice as fast - does this mean this Fans are made for 6V Maximum Voltage? (Well if u put 2 Car-Batteries in Line theyll give 24V - so if u put 2 6V Fans in Line ull Reach 12V for example)

best Regards

Re: EVGA GTX 750 TI FTW ACX way too loud 2014/03/07 14:11:33 (permalink)
The FTW card naturally will be a bit louder than the standard SC version.

A couple of reasons, mainly it is 2 fans vs 1, but also the GPU consumes more power (with additional 6pin power) for overclocking.

The fans on the card are controlled via voltage, (not PWM) so there is a minimum voltage the fans can operate at, this is around 1800RPM.

If noise level is the primary concern, I would recommend getting the standard SC (small board).

i dont belive that is an issue with your card, for example my GTX 780 SC ACX has a minimum fan speed of 39%, that is even if my card is running at 25C. While if I let it do what it wanted to it would run the fans at 100% during gameplay. This may be due to EVGA belives strongly that their fans are durable enough to withstand a lifetime of running at those speeds. Personaly i limit the cards maximum operating temrature and keep the fans a the stock 40%.

Good thing I'm getting the small SC model then (for PhysX and Mining), I didn't want the ACX version due to the 6 pin plug anyway as I'm  making my computers as energy efficent as possible.

I see no point in these. I don't care whether my PC is loud or not. I can't hear it (big headphones) nor friends on VoIP can hear it (good mic). And in fact, 60% of my dual fans (EVGA GPU) are still quieter than my x3 Aerocool 120mm case fans which run at 100% all the time (little jet) :)

Want it silent? Buy a little fridge and put the pc in there. Or get passive cooling.

Board: MSI Z87-G45 Gaming Edition
BIOS: v1.9 Newest!
CPU: Intel Core i5 4670 @ 3.8 With ITBoost

Other HDD: Samsung 7.2kRPM 80GB SATA III, WD Caviar Black 1TB Sata III 7.2kRPM
COOLER: Corsair H80i Push-Pull
OS: Windows 7 64bit Ultimate OEM

CPU runs 45*C on 100% load (Corsair H80i)
GPU runs 71*C on 100% load (stock EVGA cooler )

I must be lucky or something beause my card is super quiet!
I got it on Monday 10th of march. it was shipped from newegg in California and I live in montreal city in Canada. not sure if the new bios was preloaded or not. before removing my previous card I removed the drivers and when I put in my gtx 750ti ftw I imediatelly installed the BIOS update and after that I reinstalled the latest drivers. I can't hear it at all and the temperature at full load seems to be hovering around 45 celcius. really great card I'm happy with it.

Why does the fans have to work below 40°C / 104°F anyway?
Can't we just have the option to switch them off totally?
When gaming I don't care about the noise, but when I work on my Desktop I really would prefer having those fans shut down.
I don't think the card would overheat under no load without active cooling.
At the moment even in the Valley Benchmark my card never gets hotter then 45°C / 113°F anyway, and that with smallest possible fanspeed.

Thanks... :) I use 2x Scythe Jyu Slim 100mm fans with 2000rpm in combination with a PCI-Slot fan-controller (Lian Li PT-FN03) for fine tuning. I put my soundcard directly under the 750 ti without problems...

Not crazy about that particular fan controller, mainly cause the red/black molex wires could easily snap off the PCB from moving them around too much

there wasn't really an alternative available for me because my case (Silverstone SG10) doesn't have a 5,25" drive bay for front panels

Mine is nearly 60 dB when I put a meter inside my case. For reference my case with a H60 water cooler and 2 240mm fans is ~45 dB before installing the card (since I'm not sure how well calibrated my meter is and don't have a standard laying around). The BIOS update didn't change it drastically and on the fence if I should attempt to return it or strap a spare 120mm fan I have laying around on it. It doesn't even get above 45C. Sigh.

I love the Scythe Jyu Slim series. I have one in each system where space on my coolers don't allow better fans, and they always impress.

For those of you installing different fans.  Is the video card controlling the fan speed or have you connected the fans to the motherboard?

Edit: Just read its 2pin which is controlled by the voltage going to the card.
