I just purchased an EVGA GTX 1080 yesterday and cannot get the HTC Vive headset to initialize and for the headset light to "turn green". However, when I pop either one of my GTX 980 cards back the headset works again. Anyone come across this yet? I have my HTC Vive connected with a DisplayPort cable and my 65" 4K Samsung TV connected to the HDMI port. I have tried different USB 3.0/3.1 ports in combination with each of the three DisplayPort connections on the card with no luck.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Jamie D.

You probably need evga or nvidia tech support. log a ticket with them.

Do you have the latest nvidia driver with support for the 1080?

Doesn't the HTC Vive show up as a device/ display in your nVidia Control Panel?

Perhaps on the 1080, it's seeing it as something else and needs to be enabled correctly.

    Just a wild guess...

Should it be fine to swap between my EVGA GTX 980 and my 1080 without reinstalling the drivers each time?

It should be. I never had an issue switching between a 980 and 680.

There was forum discussion (no tech support involved) that Nvidia 368.25 drivers ONLY supported the 1080.
If so, then you may have to roll back the driver when you use the 980. If thats the case, shame on Nvidia for not releasing a production ready driver with the 1080. ask your tech support.

Yeap, the 368.25 driver won't install with my 980 Ti, though I'm certain that can be bypassed by modding the .ini file. I really hope Nvidia doesn't fracture their drivers between 10 series and older, probably to avoid having competition for the new features on older cards.

Any update OP? I wasn't able to get an FE on Friday so I'm going to try and grab another card, hopefully and FTW or classy(when they are announced). I just got my Vive like a week ago and am loving it. I would be really dissapointed if the 1080 had issues with it. I hope this gets all sorted

You need to connect the Vive to HDMI, display port to Vive is bugged for now with the 1080.
