This is my first post in this forum, so I take the chance to say hello to everyone here and thanks in advance for all the help.

I recently purchased and assembled all the pieces for a new pc, everything is fine except my gtx960 gpu is not detected by the system.
I plugged my monitor to the 960, but the system only sees the MoBo integrated gpu (however, the BIOS shows nVidia plugged in PCI-E2).
My problem is totally similar to this one: forums.evga.com/EVGA-GEFORCE-GTX-960-not-recognized-Please-Help-m2303853.aspx, with the noticeable difference that a fresh OS reinstall did not solve it.

The EVGA gpu totally works when installed on my friend's pc, and so do other gpus installed in my MoBo. I really cannot figure out what the problem may be for the life of me.

Here are my specs:

MoBo: AsRock H97 Performance
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB
CPU: i5-4690k (not OC'd)
PSU: Corsair TX650W
SSD: Adata Premiere 256GB
OS: Windows 7 Professional

I've tried fiddling with the BIOS, disabling onboard gpu, changing PCI-E speed, reinstalling the OS, nothing seems to work. I'm clueless.

Is your bios completely up to date?

Make sure pci express is chosen as your primary video output option. Make sure the card is getting enough power from the power supply via the aux power connector on the card. Try a different power supply if you can, maybe the aux power is not working. Also turn off secure boot in the bios.

Thanks for your replies. I've updated my BIOS to the latest version (2.30), PCI-E2 (where the 960 is plugged) is my primary video option, secure boot is turned off, still nothing. I've tried switching power connectors on my PSU, but unfortunately I don't have another one to test it. I can try to borrow a friend's GPU with a slightly higher power consumption than mine to see if that works on my system, would that kind of test help?
Or is the fact that the 960's fans are spinning a proof it's sufficiently powered?

If the fans are spinning it should have power. From my experience, the 960, 970, 980ti I have will not enable fans on boot if no aux power is connected. I would contact EVGA tech support to see if they have some memo on something like this happening before.

I seem to have solved this problem by using an adapter from the 6+2 pin PCI-E plug to a 6+6 pin. Which is quite strange because the user manual said to just plug the normal 6+2 one. Weird.

    Thanks anyway for the help!

Glad you got it fixed. I'm not sure why that was either.
