Hello All,

We have decided to renew the folding promotion for another year!  After researching and taking into account opinions in threads on the forums here, we have made the following changes.  Due to advancing technology, the points needed will rise this year.

Tier 1 : 750k (750,000) (5 EVGA Bucks)
Tier 2 : 1.5m (1,500,000) (5 EVGA Bucks)

Thank you to all who help with this wonderful cause.  EVGA really appreciates your support in helping to find solutions to some of the worlds biggest problems.

Thank You,
Rob

Thanks for keeping it, however, I think this is the final straw for me. With the lack of activity in the forums and PG not caring about the donors I just have no passion anymore. I've been doing the minimum because of the cost of energy but I'd have to fold too many hours to get the bucks.
Good luck all it's been a fun 5 years.

Thanks for continuing it.  Since this is my first year and my first run, I look forward to the incentives.  Thanks EVGA.

Figured we see a jump in points. With the qrb the way it is now 1.5mill is about 10days on a 780 or a 8425 4p.

Yes, we paid close attention to the discussion that was occurring on the forums, then did a bit more research.  Happy to keep it going for both the EVGA Community and the Folding @ Home community!

    +1...

My passion is gone as well...  I just gave my last 262 EVGA bucks to my friend to help him build a new rig.  I got him a Z87 Classy!!!  Awesome board!!!  Over my 5 or so years of folding, EVGA probably gave me 5-600 EVGA Bucks.  Thank you EVGA.  Anywho...  Looks like I'm going to have to pay full price for my EVGA Gear now!  Oh Well...

Does this begin starting with the month of March I assume?  Just started folding for EVGA bucks a couple days ago to get my 500K and see what the fuss is about.  Guess I started too late lol.  Awesome promotion nonetheless.  Just a shame that the bonus points leading to the change are so inconsistent these days.  Still on the fence about continuing my folding career like others and now I'd actually have to put my full weight behind EVGA to go for the bucks.

Well hello new tiers!!  Thx EVGA staff for the news and the decision making

It's a little higher than I predicted - I figured on giving some little incentive to smaller cards and some older cards still = at 500M was still do-able
at 750 I figured we would lose a few - because they can't make it or barely make it

460 at 16k PPD - 480k in 30 days won't make it - add in cpu (16k PPD) - 480k - you make the bottom tier - running full out all month

Still for me Im done the tiers in a few days if I crank it.

Like I said the incentive should be to upgrade and replace hardware... 5 years of gpus should be only supported - 400,500,600,700,800 series
200 series are EOL - and 400 next year are EOL - due to maxwell refresh

Im sure some people will be turfed with it - specially after stanford's muck up

    Hi Biso n88,

Yes, the new tiers do start March 1st.

You can still claim prior year folding points up until March 15th, then the request feature will be removed for year 6 (same as in previous years).

    Thanks,
    Rob

I'm barely able to reach 500,000 points per month with my gtx470 and i5-2500k. Are the new video cards really able to get 1.5 million points per month?

I'm in the same boat.  500K is pushing it for me.  If the new cards can actually produce, then maybe I will upgrade now to be able to keep up.

Sounds good to me.  My 780 can do 1.5 mil in about 10 days or less like wrinvert said, add in my cpu and it's even faster.  Anyone with one fairly new gpu shouldn't have any trouble hitting this in one month.  The points levels are meant to motivate folding, so they shouldn't be easily attainable by everybody.  When I first started out with team EVGA it took me 20+ days to earn my bucks each month.  That being said they have funded hundreds of dollars worth of hardware I use for folding and gaming.

    using GPU QRB
    with my 780's (300k PPD - about 150k PPD each -10 days is 1.5M Each) and my 670's (200k PPD) +2 cpu's(80k)
if I push it... nearly 700k daily - so making the tiers a piece of cake for me

    670's make around 60-70k PPD - so 1 card for 10 days make around 700k... 20 days is 1.4M & 2M for the month
and you still have the cpu helping you - even at 10k PPD thats 300k more monthly

400& 500 don't benefit from GPU QRB - and in fact may do worse under QRB - so stick to core 15WU's
a 560 or 470 should do around 15k daily - 10 days is 150k 30 is 450k... add in your cpu you should just make the bottom tier

Haven't really been folding this last week because I wanted to see what Year 7 was all about.

I'm a little disappointed that the points requirement have increased quite a bit; I don't think I can make that bottom tier running 30 days a month. I'll fold for EVGA because it's a good cause though; when I get a new card to complement my 640 I'll think about the bucks.

Looks like I should have started earlier. Thanks for the opportunity though EVGA!

    Ouch, not even a GTX 480 Hydrocopper + i7 4771 + i7 2600 will do 1.5m a month.

You guys better launch those 880's soon so I can resume getting those eVGA bucks

I'm not Folding these days, but if I were, my thoughts on Year 7 would be .  I think we all know that EVGA does not have to fund this effort and to continue it is still quite "special" in my book.  It is also one of the reasons that I think so highly of EVGA and the people that work there.  A "class act" for sure.  I do also understand team-mates that have concerns with equipment capability, electrical requirements, etc.  I have those too and Folding is one of the most intense, power-hungry apps you can run on a PC.  Hoping that everyone finds their place with this stuff and where they are comfortable in DC-land too.

Just picked up a 760 to fold on. With the crappy new wu's I will average 60k PPD, maybe a tad less. Meaning it will be tight, especially if the wu change more. Very sad. I can't afford $400-500 for a 780. This will hurt a lot of budget folders.
