Xavier Zepherious Um... there was no goggle doc full of names (troy might have had one at one time) just use EOC site (team list) and go thru starting from the top just be aware that people don't always use the same name for their account as the folding name There was such a doc (or spreadsheet file) at one time because myself and several others worked from it to do a massive PM to the base. Troy was the owner of the file at the time. Yes, we ran into the problem of different user names too.

that sheet only has a few hundred names so we would wind up going by EOC anyways I know I did some of the PM'ing from the list for troy for other contests. I did the last Call out by PM (for CC) using EOC top 2000 have more than 1M each (at least almost all) anything after this point is a mixed bag (not many folding down there) 1. newcomers (whom most will be folding anyways) 2. old systems (that don't generate as much points) 3. ps3 systems (even fewer points) 4. people that have left EVGA or the forums 5. people that quit folding

What we need is...an "easy" way of communicating to whatever we want to agree is the "base". The problem we have encountered in the past has been the totally manual process of going through hundreds of names and sending PM's (5 at a time) to a large base of people. So, no matter what you want to define as a usable base of names, the bottom line (for me) is that it needs to be way easier to administer the messaging. Pouring through hundreds of names from EOC and trying to figure out if their name in EOC is the same as in the EVGA forums does not appeal to me. I'd rather be discussing how we can streamline those manual processes. Let's get outside the box a bit more here and think of some new ways to deal with comm to our base. I understand that this could take time to figure out and accomplish. I'm willing to be patient, even if that means [H] passes us before we figure out a better method. I see this as a tool that we can use beyond the Challenge at hand.

Hmmmm...I hear ya. I feel like this need is floundering since our interaction with EVGA is IMO spotty and unproductive. It would seem to me that we have a situation that doesn't serve our team well and is also not that good for EVGA either. On the one hand, as a team we occasionally have needs to effectively communicate events and important information to our base. At the same time EVGA is running a company that needs to focus on their business and doesn't appear to have the cycles to handle the communications either. Thirdly, we have a system (PMs) that may be used more effectively, yet (as you pointed out) we don't have the freedom to efficiently use either. Feels like in the movie "Catch-22", we need help, but if we ask for help, that means we are capable (in some way) and can't get help. Seems we need a system that allows us to have some control for managing team communications. I'm not talking about being a pest about it either to our membership, just occasionally sharing important information with them. How many times have we had a contest and found people that didn't know about it because they don't read this very section of the forum? I'm open for ideas and would like to figure out a way to move this ball along with EVGA too if possible.

We probably need some sort of signup page (outside EVGA's site) where people that are interested in contests and competitions can provide an email address. I don't see any more efficient way to do mass communication without cooperation from EVGA staff. That's not a bad thing - separation between EVGA the company and the EVGA DC teams is a good thing IMO.

we also have the option of an outside forum(create our own) as well PS: if we do manual PM - lets do this with some thought like saving the actual EVGA user name in a list (so we can combine what we do into one list) Each person saves a list of User names (that corresponds with a folding name...ie save both) Each person posts on what section (on EOC) they are working on so we don't send duplicate PM's ------------------------ on a side note It might also be a good idea to recuit (reel in - like fishing) all the EVGA employees we can into the team. if the majority of employees are onboard and are Folding addicts for the team that we have a real voice at EVGA (Now whose looking to lure in the big fish - lets see if we can reel in the CEO)

You may be onto something there XZ...Wikipedia says EVGA has 250 employees. I don't know how many of them Fold, but I think it should be a "job requirement"...haha. That could help us fill-in some gaps on production!! http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/EVGA_Corporation

I think you are looking at this PMing folders all wrong. When what you need to do is PM every one that is signed up to forum. That is kind of why it would be better if EVGA would do a email spam.Yes the buck program is fine but I would give that up for a little help from EVGA As I climb up the ranks I look sometimes at what the ones I am over taking are doing.90% of the time they are not doing any folding.Thing is if there not folding they just do not want to or moved on.We need new blood.Heck we need 4 or 5 that can do 1 mill. a day or we need enough new peps to do that.Thats where H is kicking are ass .We got 872 active folders they got 607 . So as I see it we need about 150 more folders or 5 that can do 1 mill.ppd a day. Most likely we will not get the 5 but with EVGA's help we mite be able to get the 150 new folders This is just my take on upping are PPD by 5 or 6 mill. a day to hold H off. ( You may be onto something there XZ...Wikipedia says EVGA has 250 employees. I don't know how many of them Fold, but I think it should be a "job requirement"...haha. That could help us fill-in some gaps on production!! ^^^^ now that would work are when they are testing video cards do it folding. have each card fold for 24 hours use it like a burn test.

when we run contests we have been known to meet 30M PPD just look at folding madness contest (march). When the team gets reved up and there is a contest - we bring it and try to meet and break records nothing better than a good internal challenge and of course a few prizes to win along with it

A contest will do nothing to address the current situation XZ. We don't need a 1 week or even a 1 month boost to 30 PPD, we need a sustained effort to increase production to stay #1. Achieving that most likely won't be from our current folding base, it will come from bringing new folders.

Yep, what Troy is saying is correct. That is why this whole effort and idea of Troy's was a good one. To try and enlist previous (inactive users) and new Folders to the team. It is disappointing that we could not get the help from EVGA that appeared to be coming because I think that could have been a good thing. But, I do have to say that we are seeing progress in new and previous members joining the team. It may not be enough right now to prevent [H]'s overtake, but is encouraging all the same, and who knows where we might be a few months from now? We are a great team who is being overtaken by another great team that just so happens to be armed with a large number of 2P/4P machines. Those type machines are in the current "Folding sweet spot" of racking up tremendous daily points. Under present conditions, we are mounting a heroic effort by our existing team that has delayed [H] so far, but time is closing-in on us. I haven't lost hope though for this battle, but we may well have to be patient for the day when the tide turns back for us.

I have some good news and progress to share: - Working with EVGA to get a mass email message to all our folders and they are going to try to get it out on Wednesday! They are, of course, very busy with other obligations and may not meet that deadline, but it should get out soon. Lets be sure to thank EVGA for being such a great company and being dedicated to supporting the amazing community they have created here.
- After the message is sent out, it would be a good idea if we were particularly active on the forums helping new and returning folders get up and running. If you can't increase your own production, you can increase our team production simply by helping others get up and running. Please make any reasonable effort to help out as much as you can!
- Punchy has been sending out a PM version of the same message to some of our inactive folders and you may have noticed some old (or new) familiar faces showing up on the forums to fight the good fight. Lets give them a warm welcome back and make them feel right at home!
- I've been working with drougnor to get individual and team stats up and running on the contest page. Unfortunately we both are pretty busy with outside obligations, but hope to it up and running soon.
- blkhole is running a set of challenges with some amazing giveaways in conjunction with our overall challenge. Be sure to check it out and get in on the fun!
- If there are any questions/issues that come up, please ask.

On the stats front, the system choked due to weather flaking out our internet and we lost 5 hours of updates, but it's back up and chugging away. **edit at 7:27am EDT** And it looks like the google page that's running my online stats has choked as well, only I can't reboot Google's servers... I'm going to poke at it a little when I have time, IF I have time, but will definitely get the points manually copied and pasted in as I have the chance. d

Thank you very much, my friend. I had another brief outage this morning, caused by my stats system locking up, which forced me to reanalyze a couple of steps and insert a couple of potential fixes. With a little luck, those fixes will prevent the current stoppages from happening again. (Or, my fumbling attempts at fixing this at 4:30am will result in more hilarity as I find out I transcribed everything into Sanskrit or something.

For a few years I lived in Kentucky and we drove back to Maine to visit family and friends - And every time we came through Port Chester, in Conn. I would laugh for about 10 minutes, remembering that modern classic movie. And for the stats, things appear to be smoothed out. *knocks on wood* No Sanskrit in the files, either. BONUS!!
