tanner2 I know anyone can do math 2.4 day deadline x 24 hours - 1 hour upload x 60 minutes / 100 frames = max 33.96 minutes per frame. Nothing going wrong. Just to add some info, My sr-2 dual e5645' running 24 threads run at 3.45 hz have a tpf of 27:15 minutes on a 8101. Takes 1.9 days or 46 hours. Total points 220k-230k and about 110k-115k ppd. 15-20 minute upload. Cl9 ram, numa off, kraken on. Dedicated folder. That's what I was feeling would be sort of the minimum requirement these days on an SR-2 for Bigadv. The 5645's were released after I had already built my SR-2 (way back), but the minute I saw them I thought sweet, wish I'd had the chance to get them instead. Good information from you and helpful to have some actual results for others to gauge by. Help me understand your NUMA setting. From what I've read, if you are running the Kraken, NUMA is supposed to enabled because the Kraken is supposed to take advantage of it. Have you found out differently and that disabling NUMA was the better route on an SR-2?

Here are some estimates from Nathan_P on minimum speeds needed (not including upload/download times): 16 Thread intel xeon based on Nehalem-EP, only if you can get clock speed up to 3.6 24 thread intel xeon based on westmere-EP - only at a clock speed of 2.66ghz or better, 16 thread westmere, see above 16 thread AMD 61xx Magny cours, only if you can get clock speed up to 3ghz 24 thread AMD 61xx Magny cours, only if you are running 6172's or faster 16 thread AMD interlagos - only if you can get clock speed upto 3ghz 24 thread AMD interlagos - 2.3 ghz or better

Thanks for the data Punchy!! When I get a spot to where I can dedicate my SR-2 under native Ubuntu for a few days, I may give it another try to see if it can come in under the wire. Sure do miss being able to do Bigadvs under 'Winders...maybe one day...

Hey guys, dunno how often you get my GD area but I must retire. I know I've done very little but now....well it's full on 0 for an undetermined amount of time. troy8d I think EVGA is a little backed up with the 13th Year Anniversary, but hopefully when things settle down in another week we can get our message out and really get this ball rollin! 3 weeks since this message - if the email doesn't come out shortly then it's too late. It takes more than a few days to get a steamroller up to full speed.

Agree with your thought Punchy...we're slowly being overtaken by [H] and anyone can see that in the daily production stats. Our recent production rally's within ourselves (while significant because of what our team is willing to do) are still delaying the inevitable at best. I have no inside knowledge, but have often wondered if EVGA struggles with sending out such messages (like Chimp Challenge and now this message). EVGA markets products to all of these Folding Teams and wants all of them to be their customers no matter if they Fold for EVGA or not. Taking actions that directly promote the EVGA Folding Team's performance may run afoul of the messaging that EVGA wants to send to all customers across all teams. Again, I don't know what is actually holding things up this long, so in the absence of facts I only have my speculation/guesses. PS: I've also wondered if our requests for blanket emails to a wide EVGA population raise some "privacy" issues for EVGA. In my job I have to be keenly aware of email privacy statements and more importantly having someone that manages requests to not be contacted. I just mention this because our attempt to get EVGA to contact EVGA customers for CC2012 was not successful. This effort is running very close to the same results for our "Call to Arms" email request. My gut feeling is that the email is not coming, as with the CC2012 email. If you recall with the CC2012 email request, we also were under the impression that EVGA would do it, but it did not happen for some reason. Before I close these thoughts, I want to say that I have no ill feelings toward EVGA one way or the other about this request. They have always been "top cabin" in my book as a company through every encounter with them for products. I do wish we had better communications at times so at least we would not be left wondering if/when a request such as this will happen.

Interesting insights there texinga. I had never considered that perspective before. However, they did market the #1 folding team on GPU boxes which had to have been purchased by members of other folding teams. Yet I haven't heard any stories of complaints. Either way I too have the utmost respect for EVGA as a company, and am proud to fold under their flag no matter what rank the team is in the world.

Yeah...I don't really know anything and it could be that they just haven't had time to do it. An email could help get the word out to a greater PC audience. But in the end, we are Team EVGA and we are doing the best that we can (even in summer temps)! Even if [H] does pass us soon, it is not at a break-neck speed. We would still be following close behind and looking to mount a retake. The competition is fun and provides some Folding interest while we wait for cures/progress. I'm not bummed at all whether EVGA does send the email. I was just "thinking outloud" and basically jabbering. I do hope that we can help EVGA to keep that "#1 Folding Team" moniker on their boxes!

I predict that just before we are about to be overtaken, 8102 points will be adjusted and the quick return bonus for GPUs will begin. How's that for conspiracy theories?

Just a quick update for everyone: As for myself, I have been in the process of moving to a new place and dealing with some other personal issues that hopefully have been straightened out. I hope to be around more now. As for where this currently stands, I was in contact with EVGA earrlier in the week and they still support us in this venture. In regard to some of the comments made: it has taken a while for it to be approved up the chain of command, but from what I know it has been approved. EVGA was (understandably) busy/distracted with the 13th anniversary and I was a bit busy myself. When I was in touch with them earlier this week they said we should have a date that this will be sent out soon. Even though we are not EVGA's top priority, I will also start being more persistent as has been pointed out that we are nearing the point where things need to start happening. If EVGA does not come through, we can always result to home grown efforts. Either way, we're not going down without a fight!! EVGA has been very supportive of our efforts, the primary issue being that they all have other responsibilities. When deadlines approach, their ultimate responsibility is to improve their bottom line and our requests get pushed to the back burner. Its not an issue with privacy or anything like that: the email would only go to those that have selected to receive promotional emails from EVGA and have a registered folding name with EVGA (a large number of people ). I'm sure they're out of the office for the weekend, but will follow up with them on Monday to see where things stand. Thanks for the patience everyone...I'm more than ready to get this party started!

For Troy, thanks for that update and glad to see you back around here again! Xavier, those 3930k's are sweet processors. I recently helped a friend build his new gaming rig around that CPU and he loves it. I just ventured into the Bitfenix fans myself. Picked up Bitfenix's Specter Pro series in 230mm, 200mm and a couple of 140mm fans (all in green for my new 4P clear case I'm making). Sweet looking fans for sure. Looking forward to seeing what you are building and welcoming that new mustang to the herd!

According to Troy, the vehicle is an "email" message. IIRC, Troy drafted the message for them to use in the email. That was an excellent thing to do rather than expect them to do that when they have other things on their plates. http://forums.evga.com/fb.ashx?m=1719879

I think it's time to switch to plan B and start sending out PMs. I was just thinking the same thing, but the neat thing about EVGA's email would be to target a much larger audience. If we do the PMs (and I'm in full support of that effort), we would be targeting past Folders from CC, correct? That could be a good thing to do in addition to the email. Regarding that email, I'm reminded of a humorous thing that happened to me back when I negotiated contracts for a living. Had a customer where we had spend the better part of 2yrs working out change after change. At one point he comically said to me "you know if this contract was a baby, it'd be walking by now"!

I was on the same page as you Punchy and Tex. I think its time to start down the PM route, and while it might reach a smaller audience we can get it started on our own schedule. We could still continue to explore the EVGA email option even if we start sending PMs. But if we want any chance of holding off [H] I don't think we can sit around on our hands any longer.

Let's do it... We have lots of motivated team players right now and we could whip through all those communications quite swiftly. If we use that Google-doc of names that you or someone has at one time, we could "get 'er done" in a short time-frame with enough people. What we really need is some better way to broadcast a message to our team too. Sending 5 PMs at a time, while doable, is a slow way to mass communicate when we need to get the word out to our team. I know that even with PM's they are useless unless a person logs-in to have them pushed to you. Is there any way that we can setup something that can be used again and again with a single effort/message? We could keep people informed of contests, challenges (like this one), etc that way. We are the largest producing Folding team on the planet (well at least for now), but we have no way to mass communicate to our base. Just thinkin' out loud...

Um... there was no goggle doc full of names (troy might have had one at one time) just use EOC site (team list) and go thru starting from the top just be aware that people don't always use the same name for their account as the folding name
