EVGA, are there any plans in the works to sell an ACX cooler for the Titan X?

I'm strongly debating on whether the Titan X or the 980 Ti will be the card to get. If there's an ACX cooler for the Titan X, that would help swing my vote. If not, I'm not sure I personally could live with the high fan RPMs required to cool it. Thanks.

You, sir, are exactly the kind of customer EVGA surely likes.

Haha, that ACX 2.0 cooler will surely increase the Titan X's potential.  And I've always been intimidated by the thought of building a whole custom looped liquid cooling solution for my PCs.

Why would you want to replace NVIDIA's best cooler which has a vapor chamber with an inferior cheap ACX cooler?

While it may be "inferior" plastic, an aftermarket cooling solution like Evga's will keep the card far below its current 80-86c load temps. It's common sense, really.

It's not common sense at all. I also disagree with your numbers. How can you make such predictions? You compare the ACX's performance on a 185 watt TDP card to the NVIDIA cooler on a 250 watt TDP card and expect there to be some meaningful comparison based on theory alone?

EVGA's ACX cooler is inferior in my opinion. It is a simple design, not well engineered, and not as good in my opinion. It's not just the plastic which is cheap; the whole thing is cheap.

The ACX cooler dumps the heat into the inside of your computer's case and then recirculates that heated air. NVIDIA's cooler blows the heat outside of your case -- as it should. The reason EVGA uses the ACX for so many of its cards is because the ACX cooler is cheap. It's not because the ACX cooler is better.

The NVIDIA vapor chamber blower cooler is the best stock video card cooler ever made; hands down. In my opinion, it is better.

Agreed Ty, I think it is funny that people don't realize that all the reviews showing the cards running at 83 degrees have the automatic overclocking enabled. If you run the card locked at 100%, you won't come anywhere near those temperatures. If you unlock the overclocking, the card will automatically increase its speed until it hits 83 degrees which is when it starts to throttle back down (still way above the 100% mark).

One other note, I currently have two 780 Classifieds with the ACX 2.0 cooler and had to add multiple fans to my system to get rid of all the hot air those things were blowing into my case. I am upgrading to the Titan X next week and selling my two cards (with backplates) on ebay.

Ive always liked coolers that have radial fans (blower style) because it's more efficient, usually quieter, and looks awesome. My GTX 970 stays cool with the stock fan settings but it gets fairly loud compared to my old GTX 570. I know why aftetmarket coolers use axial fans like the ACX cooler, it's likely cheaper to produce and therefore more profit. What I dont understand is why its not an option for all GTX cards even when consumers are willing to pay a premium.

I had a pair of Titan Blacks and after switching to ACX coolers the temps dropped nicely. It all depends on your cases air flow.

I previously owned a reference 780 Ti and returned it for a 780 Ti Classified. The TDP of that card is 250W. With the reference at 40% fan speed, it easily hit 81C. The Classified, on the other hand, stayed over 10C cooler with the same fan speed.

Sure, aftermarket coolers may be cheaper, but they work very well. Go look at the numerous reviews of the MANY aftermarket cooled GPUs. They often compare noise and temps to the reference designs.

Now when you want to run SLI configurations, I completely agree that a blower style cooler would be best, in most cases.

I too personally prefer the ACX coolers.  My last card was a 670 FTW with a 680 FTW vapor chamber heatsink (mod made by wrinvert since he water cooled his 680s and didn't need his vapor chamber).  The single 670 was much louder than my current 2 970 FTW+s in SLI.  My 2 ACX coolers have run cooler and quieter than the previous blower cooler, even though they are in SLI (2 slots between cards).  My top ACX card has never seen above 63C.  Where my single 670 with vapor chamber blower was in the 70s while gaming and I remember it being loud.  I of course have really good airflow in a big case.

I also wouldn't even have asked this question if Evga hadn't already previously released an ACX cooler for the last Titan.

So, Jacob, are there any plans at all for something like that to happen again?

Titan and Titan Black weren't allowed Aftermarket coolers pre-installed.

This is probably the same case with the Titan X, EVGA allowed you to buy them on the EVGA store. So they will probably release a ACX cooler Soon™.

There's also the VGA coolers from Corsair and NZXT. I wonder if they'll be updated with brackets compatible.

Most of these CLCs don't actually cover the RAM which is an issue.

The EVGA AIO is great because it simply bolts onto the existing faceplate of the stock cooler so we need one similar to the GTX 980 AIO for the Titan X.

I don't think the spacing of the mounting hole changed, so the kraken and Corsair solution should work. I personally will not be paying for a Titan X just to test it, lol.

Don't know if I'd call it an issue. VRAM on the back of the Titan X is exposed with no problems... they just run hotter than hell.

That's all Corsair would tell me. Seems like it will come for the Titan X. :D
