Hi There,

I recently upgraded to windows 10 from 8.1 and I have been trying all the lastest drivers to date but for some reason i still cannot install the latest geforce drivers.  Everytime I install it its showing up in device manager as incompatible (yellow hazard sign) and my screen resolution is stuck on 1024x768.  So far the only way to bypass this problem was to search geforce forums and modify an older driver from march to get support for the 980ti.

Has anyone with a gtx 980ti experienced this problem with windows 10? if so please help.

Thanks

It might help if you list your entire system specs and monitor  as well .....&  did you just do the 'upgrade' version of Win 10 ?, - or did you also later do the full wipe and install fresh copy of  10 ?

I have two GTX 980ti cards in SLI and they are happily running fine in Windows 10 pro.

Yes, definitely need your system specs to assist you further

+1. I have 980 Ti SC+ in SLI and they are running fine too. What is the version of nvidia drivers are you using ? The latest drivers are fine but flickering shadows and sudden FPS drops ( less than a second ) issues in Witcher 3 are still there from 355.80.

im using 352.84 and had to modify the ini file.. https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/838779/geforce-900-series/980-ti-amp-windows-10-64-bit-/1/

I tried 355.82 and it still didnt work.  Should I do a driver sweep?

@mhijazi...did you do a clean win 10 install or upgrade from 7/8?

    Thanks

Acutally I had 780's in before I swapped them with 980 Ti's . But the installation before swapping cards was fresh Windows 10 isntallation.

TRY THIS AMAZING TECH FIX , I inadvertently stumbled across .... Sounds dumb but it worked for a similar issue under Win 10

    1) While your system is in Win 10 at desktop
    2) reach around and unplug your monitor cable
    3) wait 5 -10 seconds
    4) plug the monitor back in   - * cross fingers *
    5) wait 10 more seconds & see if Win 10 & the drivers recognize the monitor again  , along with it's correct resolutions .........

    Try this...

#1 Download driver 355.82 to your desktop & download the latest version of DDU to your desktop.

#2 Unplug ethernet cable from motherboard to disconnect the internet.

#3 Uninstall the nvidia drivers normally.

#4 Use DDU (Display driver uninstaller) in safe mode to clean out all your nvidia drivers. Use the clean and restart (highly recommended) option.

#5 Delete video GUID's using regedit. Click the start button and type regedit and hit enter. For windows 8/10 hit the windows key + r and type in regedit and hit enter. Navigate to...
    - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Video (highlight the Video key and press the delete key.)
    - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\Video (highlight the Video key and press the delete key.)
    - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video (highlight the Video key and press the delete key.)
NOTE: When deleting the video key you will be prompted with an error saying "Error deleting key, Cannot delete Video: Error while deleting key." Just ignore the error and select OK, all keys within the Video key will be deleted except for ones that cannot be deleted.

    #6 Reboot PC.

    #7 Do step #5 again.

    #8 Reboot PC.

#9 Perform a clean installation of video drivers.
    1. Uninstall Precision X/Afterburner if installed, make sure to select "no" to saving profiles if asked.  Reboot the PC now if you had to uninstall PX or Afterburner.
    2. Run the graphics installer located on your desktop.
    3. Select custom advanced install, under custom installation options uncheck all options except the physx system software, if you have a 3D capable monitor and would like to use 3D at some point please select both 3D options, check mark perform clean install, then click next to install the driver, reboot when asked.
    #10 Connect ethernet cable.

When you say it delete the video key do you mean delete the whole video folder? I have 6 folders within the video folder? Also I don't see control set002 but see the rest

Sorry I don't want to mess up the registry or my computer may not start

Onboard graphics should be disabled when using your dedicated gpu. To try and fix it you could try unplugging the ethernet cable from motherboard, opening device manger, right click the 4600 under display adapters & select uninstall, check mark "delete the driver software for this device" if shown, then select ok, close device manger and reboot pc, install latest driver.
