This is very strange...those settings should have worked, no problem. OK....try this....leave the CPU FSB alone and just lower the CPU vcore.

CPU Core      : [Manually set]   (1.25v)
CPU FSB        : [Manually set]   (1.2v)

If that does not work, try them both at 1.3v.

hi Jeff, tried both settings , it didn't work, i was seeing issues like audio distortion, system hang etc , some apps not working, also i was getting this message for some apps "The instruction at 0x762cfd7a referenced memory @ 0x25157ea3. The memory could not be read"
However I have a stable system with post 9 settings,i even tried with all 4 stix, no problems at all.
So could be some hardware compatibility issue ( especially RAM), may be we can try unlinked,Im no sure if thats an option.
thanks!
Ashwin

I find myself very puzzled over why you are unable to run successfully with just a minor OC on your CPU and the RAM at it's rated spex.

The post #9 settings are CPU at stock settings and RAM underclocked. Maybe that is just how you will have to run...especially, since you did try with all 4 stix installed and it works. I would not expect you to be able to run all 4 stix at 1600MHz but, the settings we have tried SHOULD have worked with just 2 stix.

I suppose there could be some compatability issue with your unique combination of hardware installed. We could try unlinked but, you definately do not want to be running your CPU at 1333MHz and RAM at 1600MHz.....that will certainly cause memory errors due to the CPU bottle-neck that will be created.

How about you go ahead and install all 4 stix, reapply the Post#9 settings and run like that for a few days to see how it does?

Hi Jeff, Yes i will run with all 4 stix ram and post 9 settings for a few days. its been very stable so far, as you mentioned it might be the odd hardware combo, especially im running mobo and RAM which have reached end of life.At least as a beginner im glad i built a stable pc. I use this more for music and entertainment rather than gaming, I also have another pair of ram (8GB 4x2 corsair CMX8GX3M4A1600C  9 9-9-24 1.65v).I can try and use those if i want to experiment further.
Thanks a bunch for your suggestions, without your instructions it was very difficult for a newbie like me to get a stable system. Appreciate your time.

Well, I'm glad that it is running stable and you are able to use all 4 of your Patriot RAM modules.

I really do not believe you would have better luck running the Corsair RAM stix as they are low-voltage modules.

You probably should leave it just like it is and just enjoy it...instead of having to be messing with the BIOS all the time.

I am very glad that I was able to help in a small way to at least get it stable (and you are certainly welcome)....although, I am still puzzled over it.

Hi Jeff, I installed E-LEET utility and attached is the system voltages and temp screenshot, is the temp in normal range. Also i have one more question regarding graphic card, Im planning to use an led tv as a monitor, what specs should i look for in a TV (HDMI)  which can also serve as a monitor.
thanks!

First off...the E-LEET tool was not designed to be run on a 790i MoBo....apparently; it works anyway but, I have never installed it.

Those temps. showing are a little warm for idle temps. You may want to Disable the SmartFan in the BIOS and manually set all fans to run at 100%.

As far as using an LED TV as a monitor....that would totally be up to your personal preference. I would think that your GFX card could easily run any TV that you might hook up to it.
