Hi,
I have an ASUS HM81K motherboard and an EVGA GTX 760 card.
Without the EVGA card, the system works without any issues. The weird stuff comes after I put this card inside. I connect the power supply connectors to the card and then the following happends:
When I turn on the machine the first time, everything works. However, turning the machine off and on, and the machine simply won't power up (it powers up for half a second and immediately powers down. I can make the machine power up if I press the power button for few seconds, and even then sometimes it doesn't).
The only way to get a first time full power on and boot - is by disconnecting the power plug from the machine, wait till the motherboard really powered off (takes about 10 seconds), connect the power cord, and power on the machine - then it works again until I shut down the machine, and the next time I power it on - the issue is coming back again.

I thought it was an issue of the PSU (although it's a 550W machine and this machine has only i7-4790 CPU, 2 hard disks and a DVD-ROM, nothing that will get some load on the PSU), so I replaced the PSU with a new 750W Corsair PSU and .. the problem comes again.

ASUS support claims nothing is wrong with this motherboard, and I looked in the UEFI menu, I didn't find any special settings to eliminate this issue.

Any suggestion?

Thanks

Welcome to the forums..You mean an H81M-K motherboard?..If so, there's been 13 BIOS updates since the first release which address various issues, do you have the latest BIOS installed?..If not, do so and go from there..Take out the GTX 760 and use the Integrated Graphics while doing so..Instructions on updating the BIOS are in the motherboard manual..If you do have the latest BIOS installed, clear CMOS by turning off/unplugging the PSU and removing the motherboard battery for about 10 minutes, then put it back and try it.

Already done that. I'm on the latest version (1003), CMOS cleared, default values etc...
    Still - same problem.

Time to start the ASUS RMA process.

Turn off or set the Graphs to Legacy Mode Not UEFI if you are running Windows 7.
If you are running Windows 8.x then RMA Time.

Actually - I found the problem, and IMHO the RMA won't help much here...
When I power my machine without connecting my screen with the DisplayPort (I have 2 screens, one is connected with DVI-DL, the other - DP) - all is working perfectly well - rebooting, powering on/off, POST, everything works.
When I connect the screen With the DisplayPort, then everything is as I described above.

So, IMHO, it seems like a bug in the card's firmware, not the UEFI. I checked the monitor and the DisplayPort cable with another machine - and everything works ok.

So, how do I escalate this to the engineers?
