Is it loud? I never used fan bundled with it. I have a Scythe GT on it although these are next to impossible to get now, other than 2nd hand market. I also don't connect it to the Hybrid unit itself, but rather connect it to my fan controller (Corsair Commander Mini) so that I can have control over it, as from what I gather Precision/ Afterburner etc. only control the RPM of the blower fan. Connecting it to motherboard header would also likely let you have some control over it, although will be unlikely to give you as much choice as to what temperatures to base fan curve on.

I have some Corsair ML120's coming which I intend to use as push/pull, since my GT's aren't PWM.

Any High Static pressure fan will do, although be careful as the stated static pressure will always be at max rpm, so clearly if noise is an issue then take that in to consideration when selecting a fan. The higher the max rpm, the louder the fan will be (generally).

*EK Vardar are similar in design to the Scythe Gentle Typhoon's and I hear good things about them (EK are a watercooling company, so it stands to reason their own fans would perform very well in this area).

When I first seen thone Vardar fans I thought of gentle typhoons fan as it looks dead on.. figured maybe ek bought the design or something since I don't think those gentle typhoons are made anymore.

Yes the fan that comes with the rad is loud.. but only when you connect it to some other connection to hear it full blast. It's one of those fans with a high piercing motor noise! Nasty.

If you can grab one of those vardar fans the 1875rpm one I believe does 50cfm. It prob would be perfect and I doubt you could hear it.

Performance pcs sells them.

If you are looking for a quiet static pressure fan with some bling (glow ring) check out Thermaltake Riing series fans. I use 4 in push/pull and they are surprisingly quiet at a max RPM of 1650, they also come with low noise adapters. They have multiple color choices for your build.

Thanks guys i had gentle typhoons by Nidec (different manufacturer) but i had to return it because there is a vibrating sound emanating from the motor its sad that scythe stopped building these beast of a fan and that's why the hunt begins again for a good rad fans I am planning on connecting it on my mobo fan hub and control it from there.

I prob had like 30 of those back when in a huge mountain mods case with 3 120.3 and 1 120.4 rad all in push pull plus case fans. It is the best period. First and only time I had a silent pc.

And yes I had to put my own black cable sleeves on all those fans! Sucked hard.

Well if there anything like the old gt fans then I'm sure you'll hear the 3000rpm model. Hunt for reviews on the old gentle typhoon fans and I'm sure you'll get the info you want. Prob on YouTube as well.

I had no idea another company had the licence to make Gentle Typhoons, so thanks for that info karlsmiley. Wonder if I can find a UK supplier?

:/ if I was not planing on installing my new rig with 2 120.3 rads in my thermaltake core x9 tomorrow I'd attempt to order up 9 of them. I'm stuck with corsair sp120 performance edition fans. There ok but gt's are just that awesome.

I might be able to return the 10 fans to mc but I'm sure the wife would ignore me if I mention it.

Well for some reason I got used to the sound of the stock fan lol all it is really is the sound of air going out of the rear exhaust and a little vibration I really hope this black edition GT's will make a big difference performance/noise mann can't wait for it to get here.

Just make sure to connect the new fan to something else other then the connection off the card. Either motherboard or fan controller to adjust the speed or just straight 100% power any fan connection.

Currently using the stock connection off the card you can't control the fan speed (only the fan from the 1080 itself can you control). So if you can only hear the air sound and no motor noise then you must have it connected to the card the default way it ships. Connect the stock fan to any other plug to run it 100% you should hear it's loud high pitch whiny motor.

I'm sure you could run the new fan at 100% I bet and not heat anything other then the air noise blowing threw the rad if that.
