Why use Hybrid cards in this configuration instead of Hydro cards with a full water block?

To show off the expandability of the system.

I'm assuming all the parts you see will eventually be available from EVGA and this is to showcase that and to show off the expandability as Strafe said.

I7 4790k, MSI Gaming 7 Motherboard, 16 GB Gskill 2133 DDR3, Corsair Air 540, NZXT Kraken x61, Intel M.2 Sata SSD (boot/OS), 3 Samsung Evo 850 SSD's no raid (games ect), Two 2 TB storage Drives, EVGA GTX 1080 FTW

That is exactly why i waited. I'm suffering here trying to do 2560x1440 on a 770... holding out for a 1080 hybrid.

I'm in the same boat, except I'm suffering trying to deal with reprojection in SteamVR with my 770 4GB... I've been holding out for Pascal, and seeing what the AIB partners do. After seeing a bit more info on the GTX 1080 Hybrid, looks like I'm gonna be waiting it out for this also. If it is essentially an FTW with an Asetek liquid cooler it's going to be a really solid card. From what others have already posted doing their own franken-hybrids (like the cringe worthy show by GN), we should expect to be able to sustain a decent ~2GHz boost.

I'm really interested to see what Big Pascal will do, seeing that the memory will be on package and thus be cooled by an AIO we should see some interesting designs.

I have a question, if anyone from EVGA (or anyone else, really) can help me. I bought an hybrid 980ti on the 30th of march, and would really like to exchange it through the 90 days step up program... I kinda fear that the the 1080 hybrid won't be in the options for it before my 90 days are up though... Can I do anything about it?

If someone step-up from GTX980Ti Hybrid he could get only GTX1080 reference if I understand their system.
Many people will want EVGA Hybrid GTX1080 and GTX1080Ti Hybrid.
And that's great investment because AIO cooldown and hottest Radeon  graphic card easy.

EVGA GTX1080 Hybrid with 2x Gentle Typhoon Black Edition PWM 500-1850 RPM in Push-Pull connected to motherboard or fan controller.
These fans... And you will have so nice temps in silence and Hybrid will become your favorite graphic card EVER.

https://www.dazmode.com/s...cfm-black-edition-pwm/

Pretty much how I have my 980ti hybrids set up. I put the Gentle Typhoons on them and put them in a push/pull. I have not yet connected them to the motherboard though. But I know these rascals scream at Witcher 3 in 4k. I was at a spot getting over 100fps (AA and hairworks off. AA not needed and I do not like hairworks). I average 64-74 fps and mine do not handle an oc very well. 1480 at best.

Thats funny. It seems Steve/GamersNexus had his trip paid for to Computex by MSI and all his Utubes have a brief MSI pitch, including this one for the EVGA cards.

Hey, if someone was gonna pay your way for a trip like that, would you honestly say no?

How I feel last year that bigger cooler could be excellent for Hybrid.
Only I thought maybe EVGA plan to launch Hybrid version Classified.
But never mind, this is more than enough.

Nicest Pascal on Market.

Looks like EVGA plan to version of AIO systems for CPU, 120 and 240mm.

Did you notice what they done with power connectors...??? Now VGA cables could be connected on back side.  Excellent, excellent.

If SLI, then that would bring up the need for a decision whether or not to chain together 2 hybrids into a 240mm radiator, or for each gpu to have its own radiator and not be chained together. Other options when chaining is a possibility.

Personally I've already bought a Thermaltake 393mm AIO cooler for my cpu to go in the top of my case. No quick disconnects with it. I presume I could add QD's to it, but don't think so at this time.

There's room in the case bottom for a 240mm cooler for my gpu's.

Classified is like Terminator.
So cool colors, from every side look different depend of light, not as other graphics, whole ACX 3.0 series.

Well damn, I have a 980 Ti Hybrid, I wanted to step up to a 1080 Hybrid.  It looks like that won't happen.  I should have lived with my old card and waited.  Oh well the reference 1080 still is better than the 980 Ti.  I guess I can mount my own cooler like these guys?

Building GTX1080 Hybrid

If you want best and coolest graphic card without custom loop prepare for EVGA GTX1080 Hybrid and two of these...

Gentle Typhoon Black Edition
1850 RPM - 2150 RPM - 500-1850 PWM

https://www.dazmode.com/store/category/quiet_fans/

I have ready fan place on back side of case perfect for Hybrid radiator,
long time ago I kept CORSAIR H50/H70 there with two Gentle Typhoons on full 1850RPM in push-pull I heard NOTHING even with opened case.
If so efficient fans spin on 1850RPM on Hybrid radiator I think temp of GPU will be great.

chedck EVGA_JacobF 's replies on twitter, someone asked about an eta on the hybrid and he said late June, so that narrows down "soon" a bit though what I'm hoping for next is stuff like specs, I know it's not just reference with a different cooler, as it at least has 2 8 pins instead of 1, I would however like to know what other differences, if any it'll have, and how it might compare to the 1080 founder's edition that was modified into a hybrid that someone did with the GTX 980 ti kit.

Several reviewers said the Hybrid uses the same board as the FTW, which is a 10+2

Late June is cool with me, but I might be going with a pair of 1070's, any word on the release for those?

Hopefully the 1080 hybrid will come out and be on the Step Up list before my 14 days are up. If not, I'll just step up to a 100 FE or ACX3.0 and pray for a Classified Hybrid down the road.

Will there be any issues with two 1080 hybrid cooler fans as intake rather than exhaust?
I suppose the heat in the case might build up just like a dual SLI ACX set up?

The non-refrence based cards will not be on the Step-Up program as noted on the Step-Up support page.
You should just Step-Up to the ACX version and then wait until the GTX 1080ti Hybrid launches sometime next year to upgrade to Big Pascal. Or just stick with your 980ti Hybrids until then.

These are the three 1080 cards available on the Step-Up Program
  • EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 FOUNDERS EDITION () ()
  • EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 ACX 3.0 () ()
  • EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 () ()

From the Step-Up Program Support Page. (I Guess I can't post links :/ )

Graphics Cards

  • EVGA will only release reference versions of its products, NVIDIA reference spec and clock, to the Step-Up program.
  • Step-Up is limited to pre-approved graphics cards only and can only be used for exchange to a different and higher performing GPU.
  • Products known to have a limited availability will not be made available to the Step-Up program. (Limited availability determined by EVGA.)
  • Customers who received their EVGA graphics card as part of a complete computer system are not eligible - except for those listed on our approved .

This will totally depend on your case setup. If you have a larger case with plenty of room inside, along with ample airflow through the case then it shouldn't be an issue at all. Having them mounted on the front as intakes will also provide the GPU with the best cooling performance since it's pushing fresh cool air in from the room through the RADs. If you have a smaller case or don't have other intake & exhaust fans then I'd try to mount them to push air out of the case.

I have a Corsair Carbide Air 540 and plan on mounting the RAD in the front as an intake since I have plenty of airflow going through the case with an H100i mounted in the top with 4x SP120s in push/pull moving quite a bit of air out the top and an AF140 exhausting out the back. My ambient case temperature is plenty cool right now at about 27°C.

To quote Linus on the Seahawk topic " [...] Corsair is saying: 'Look, we're removing all limitations and while NVIDIA was showing off Clock Speeds like 2GHZ at their launch event, some folks on water are seeing significantly higher than that.'"

Edit: Availability is supposed to hit 2 weeks after initial 1080 release - so just a week away?! If that statement holds true, they're much faster than EVGA on the Hybrid - but that will at least give me - and others - some info about the OC possibility/stability (like Gamers Nexus reported)

I don't know how I feel about that... I'll wait and see proof, cause hearing that LN2 gurus modded the CRAP out of the FE and couldn't get around a 1.25V lockup is very discouraging to say the least.

The thing that made me happy was when he said that the PCB is not finalized.  So I guess he meant the demo unit's PCB is not the final one, cause one week away means they went to production already. One 8-pin on a water cooled card is ridiculous. And a nicer back-plate would be nice too... since that is what you actually see for the life of the card.
