EVGA 1070 FTW black screen happened for the first time

Hey guys...
 
So black screen happened to me today while playing Overwatch. the fan stopped spinning (or at least I cant hear it anymore, it ramped down) and monitor went black with a no signal. Made sure all PCIe cable were connected properly and uninstalled the driver using DDU and reinstalled the latest. Ran Heaven for roughly 30 mins no crash. However, when I closed Heaven, screen turned black for roughly 2 seconds before coming back up... Any ideas? I think I should probably RMA this card?

    Also, I'm using MSI Afterburner for a custom fan curve, don't know if that is an contributing factor. I am thinking of setting both the core clock and mem clock by -100 and see how it goes...Kind of sad that I got an FTW card only to have problems after problems lol

    I had black screens when playing Skyrim Special Edition until I set the power to Adaptive instead of the new default of Optimal Power in the Nvidia Control Panel.

    Hey man,
    I tried your suggestion and was able to play for about 3 hours before it finally happened again... I also underclocked my memory clock and core clock. Guess that did not help. already requested an RMA. I got an error from Overwatch saying that ``Your rendering device has run out of memory`` ? Can I assume its a VRAM failure ?

    Run out of memory? That sounds like a software issue.
     
    What driver are you using, and have you tried a different set? For me 373.06 has been the best with regards to not being utter junk like the new drivers have been.

    First time it happened I was on 375.70, uninstalled using DDU and installed the newest one and same thing happened. I rolled back to 368.69 and was able to play for a few hours with no issue. Either way, I`ve requested an RMA since I needed the thermal pads applied anyway haha. Thanks for the input, I`ll see if it still happens
